Kayla's POV
"Do Not Touch Me." His voice was filled with rage, but beneath that rage was
fear.
His expression was taut, his eyes blazed, and left me hot all over, my heart racing as I saw used my eye shut, unpleasant memories replaying in my head
"I'm sorry...I didn't mean..." He cut me off before I could offer him a very sincere apology.
"Save it." He turned and practically ran up the stairs.
I wondered who he was, but wondered what made him that way, why he hated contact. His expression this time was worse than when my father touched him.
I shrugged and waived those
thoughts from my mind, not wanting to pry.
"Hello there." I heard a sudden voice behind me and flinched.
I turned to see an elderly woman who had the warmest smile on her face...I couldn't help but reciprocate.
"I'm sorry about Young Master...He just hates people touching him," she said,
and then a sad look was cast on her face. Her eyes drooped as she stared at the ground.
Okay, what really happened to him?
"What happened?" I know I said I didn't want to pry, but I'm feeling even more
curious after seeing the look on this woman's face.
"Nothing," she says, but it sounded almost like a snap. Her eyes widened when she realized what she did.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to snap...it's...it's just a very sensitive
topic," she says, and then stares off into an oblivion...a stare too familiar...the thousand-yard stare.
"Uh, hello?" I know if I didn't speak, we would probably stand there for hours.
Her gaze returned to me, and she snapped her fingers. Two maids showed up right beside her and bowed at me.
"Show her to her room," the elderly woman says with such great authority. She must be the head around here.
"Yes, Madam Dee," the two maids said and began ushering me up the stairs.
I couldn't help but look back at the woman who stood there and sigh.
We got to a big door, and the maids stood.
Beside the door was a huge man stationed there, suit on check, dark shades.
Slowly, I grabbed the knob and turned it.
A click was heard, indicating the door was now unlocked. I entered and closed the door behind me.
The room was in awe...elegant. A queen-sized bed with blue flowery bedsheets embracing its corners, a nightstand which had a matching blue alarm clock, and the huge door, which I guessed was a walk-in closet.
I admired every single item in this room until my gaze landed on one...the mirror...I
took a sharp intake of breath and looked away from it.
My bags had been put into the room and were laid in one corner of the room.
I walked to it, but halted. Sweet air blew through the window, and my eyes dropped. I suddenly felt tired.
Well, I guess unpacking is for tomorrow. I walked to the bed and slumped on it,
engulfing the pillow to my chest, and then closed my eyes.
••••NEXT DAY••••
The bright sunlight blazed through the curtain and onto my eyelids
. Slowly opening my eyes, I was met with a quest room...no maids whispering, and I was glad.
I got down from the bed and saw a spare flip-flop on the ground. I tucked my legs
into it and trudged to the bathroom.
Slowly opening the door, a gasp left my lips. The bathroom had an equal size with the
room, sparkly white walls, blue-tiled floor.
Thank God I had no classes today, and now that I think of it...Fùck, I hadn't called
Micheal. I rushed out of the bathroom and jumped into my bed.
Grabbing my phone off the bed stand and pressing the power button, the screen came on, and then I saw it...10 missed calls from Micheal.
I quickly went to contacts and dialed his number. It rang just once before it was picked.
"Kayla...where did you keep your phone? Jesus...I've been calling your number, but it kept saying unavailable...I was worried."
I let him rant on and on about always having my phone with me before I finally spoke.
"Good morning to you too," sarcasm dripped from my tone, and I made sure he
noticed.
"Sorry...Good morning."
He replied, and then I heard a tap running in the background
"You have classes today?" I asked, as I flung my leg up in the air, a habit I was used to.
"Yeah...I know you don't have any, so I won't bother asking."
I rolled my eyes, seeing he was using this as a method to brag.
"Awwn, you're so sweet for memorizing my schedule."
I said, and a laugh was heard from his side
"I'll talk to you later," he says and muttered a quick 'I love you'. I say it back, and then we ended the call.
I stood up, and my gaze went to the horrifying mirror once again.
I began to say random words in my head to distract myself.
••••ROMEO POV
My eyes were wide open, and they had been like that since last night.
My head was blank, a daily struggle. Insomnia had crept into my soul ever since that day.
It wasn't healthy; sleeping pills didn't work, so I simply stared at the roof.
My mind replayed what happened hours ago with Kayla touching me.
I shuddered as I remembered her touch. I didn't mean to snap that way, but I couldn't help it.
It became more like a reflex action. The scared look on her face when she saw
my reaction wasn't pleasing.
I felt pity as I stared into those eyes. Why did she pity me?
It wasn't my fault that...A groan slipped from my lips as I tried to shake those thoughts off my head.
A knock erupted on the door, snapping me out of my thoughts. I was too weak to talk, so
I simply stared at the door, wishing the person behind understood that I didn't
want to be disturbed.
"It's David," he spoke, and I let out a whisper. I'm sure he heard because he
entered and closed the door behind him.
"Sleep?" he asks immediately he spotted me on the bed. I shook my head, my face stoic
and void of any emotion.
"You need to go to a therapist," those words were his daily anthem, and he knew
I didn't listen to him, but he still kept saying it.
"I have classes today...try to get some sleep," he says and walks back to the door.
He looks at me and lets out a forced smile before he walks out.
I know he blames himself for what happened that night and every other night after that,
but it wasn't his fault...I flung my hand over my eyes, trying to "get some sleep" as David said.
••••KAYLA
POV
I walked down the stairs, my gaze wandering around every corner and every object that
came into view.
Then I heard footsteps coming from behind. I turned, and then a figure came out of the
door. His back was toward me, so his face was hidden.
I heard him sigh. I wonder who he was. Slowly he turned, and then my gaze went to his face.
My jaw dropped in surprise
"Y...you?"
