chapter 15

Eliza's POV

Continuation of flashback

Suddenly, something hit my head.It was so strong. I held my head with one of my hands while the other one was holding Lily's hand. "Eliza ".. Lily called out.

My vision blurred and i became unconscious.

When i opened my eyes. I only saw Lily by my side. My head was still aching. The pain was severe.

I looked around trying to figure out what's happening. We weren't tied but was locked up in a dark room. But still there was light showing through window. I am sure we are still at the same building.

"Eliza" she called again. I didn't say anything but checked her body to see if she is injured.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

"What? You are injured and you're asking me if i am okay? " she said

"Don't worry about me. Who are they?"i asked her.

She seemed fearless. That was contagious?I think she planned something.

"My parent's buisness rivals. They called them. But..." She said and looked at me as if she is determined to do something.I just frowned because i was too confused. "...We have to escape from here. Now." She continued. I was a little surprised. "What? Listen, it's not the time to be stubborn. Besides, how can we escape? It's between adults. "I said calmly. But her expression didn't change. "We have to escape. Just come with me or i will go alone." She said. "No, i am not letting you in danger alone." -me

"Then what? Come with me" - Lily

"Lily, fine.. But tell me why should we escape now? Can't we wait for your parents " i asked her. She didn't look like when we met. She changed. I think she inherited some of my characters.

"I heard them talking in phone while i am in my car. I informed my family before stopping my car and pretend to be unconscious." She explained. "What? Pretend? Liana, are you out of your mind?" I asked her angrily.

"My car was already out of fuel and there was no other way" she continued. "Listen, if my parents come here, they will kill our whole family." She told me. I let out a deep sigh.

"Fine. But how?how will we escape?" I asked her.

"Come with me" she said and i followed her. My head still ached. She went to one of the windows which was still under construction."Can you break this?" she said while pointing at it's wooden part. " I will try" i said and kicked it a few times. It just cracked. My kicks were so strong. I felt like my legs are going to fall from my body. I looked around to find any strong objects. I noticed a steel rod leaning to brick wall. I took it and started to hit the wooden part of the window. It finally broke.

We stepped outside the room through a side of that window.

She stepped at first then i. We searched for staircase to go down. Both of us don't have our cellphone.

Something like the handle of staircase caught my attention an we slowly walked towards it.

But we heard some footsteps. We both stunned. I grabbed her hand and hid under a table. They went straight to the room where we were locked. The door wasn't actually hard. It was the only room which has a door. I think that's where the tools are. We quickly went downstairs.

But.... The two men grabbed us from behind.

"You got nerve" one of them sneered. We both are struggling between the arms of that huge men.

The men released their vice-like grip, and we stumbled forward, gasping for freedom. Our hands throbbed with pain, the skin seared a fiery red from their brutal hold. I raised my gaze to meet the boss's, his eyes locking onto mine like a predator sizing up its prey. Then, with a slow, deliberate movement, he raised the gun, its muzzle staring me down like a cold, unforgiving mouth. But I didn't flinch. My eyes didn't waver. Instead, I locked onto his, my stare a sheet of ice, unyielding and unbreakable, as if daring him to pull the trigger.

As he turned the gun on Lily, her eyes brimming with tears like shattered prisms, my heart careened out of control, racing with a ferocity that threatened to shatter my ribcage. Time seemed to slow, the air thickening into a suffocating dread. I couldn't lose her – the thought detonated in my mind like a bomb. With a primal roar, I launched myself at the gun, my fingers closing around the metal like a vice, wrenching it from his grasp. The momentum sent the gun flying out the window, but the price was steep: the bullet, freed in the struggle, tore through my arm like a ravenous beast, leaving a searing path of agony in its wake. I felt my vision blur, the world spinning around me, yet my grip on reality remained, fueled by the singular thought: Lily was safe.

I clamped my hand over the wound, trying to stem the bleeding, but my gaze remained fixed on Lily, her eyes wide with shock and horror. Their boss's face turned beet red with rage, his fury palpable. Before I could react, a crushing blow struck my head, sending stars bursting across my vision. The impact was like a sledgehammer, shattering my equilibrium. I stumbled, my knees buckling, as darkness closed in, threatening to consume me whole. The last thing I saw was Lily's anguished face, her lips parted in a silent scream.
