Chapter 2

Even though Little Aunt hadn't eaten for three days, her strength was still not something a child like me could resist.

She held me down, fished a chicken leg out of the pot, and stuffed it into my mouth.

Until my mouth was crammed full and I couldn't speak, the usually silent Little Aunt suddenly shouted.

The people came over at the sound, and she pointed at me and said, "This wretched girl stole a chicken leg. Punish her by not letting her eat tonight!"

My mom looked at me with a mouthful of meat, her eyes blazing with anger.

"You little spendthrift, is meat something you can eat? Do you deserve to eat meat?"

I was stomped to the ground, the meat from my mouth scattered, mixed with blood, and spat onto the snow.

I tried hard to lift my head to look at Little Aunt, but my grandmother grabbed my hair and lifted me up.

"You troublesome girl, causing chaos today, if you ruin our Chen Family's great event I will never forgive you!"
