Day of the Carnevale. Part 2

"Come get your Carnevale Limited keychains!"

"Anyone interested in knowing the full history of Ragunna? If so, come in! We accept any and all visitors!"

"Extreme discount for all Ragunnesi and non-Ragunnesi! All in celebration of the Carnevale! Don't miss out because the stocks is running quick!"

Prosperous atmosphere surrounded the entirety Ragunna. Many tourist from all around Solaris 3 came to visit just to witness the event that is the Carnevale.

Katsuri, wearing a dress that weirdly fit almost to her exact body shape, had her head hung low in sadness.

Somehow, Danjin had convinced her to attend the Carnevale, and not be such a NEET staying inside.

How did she know her body size?

...Katsuri doesn't want to think about it. All girls have their secrets, she's not going to be the one to find out what they are.

Either way, she's not out exploring the Ragunna City, the place where the Carnevale takes place... and where the attack would happen.

If she could remember correctly, as long as she stay far away from the main dock and the plaza, she should be save from the onslaught...

With that in mind, it should be pretty safe to just walk around the stalls, wait for the main events to start.

It was then, a hand landed on her shoulder.

Without turning around, she sighed.

"Let's go, I have this brochure here that shows all the main attraction happening inside Ragunna." Danjin waved the small book in front of Katsuri's face. "The most obvious ones are the food stalls, but we've had breakfast already, so it's alright to skip them for now until we really feel hungry."

"From what I can see in here... There are also the game section where stalls which focused on Ragunnesi's cultural games are standing. Want to go try them out?" Danjin flipped the pages with her head resting on Katsuri's shoulder.

Katsuri stayed silent for a moment before turning her gaze towards the sky, it appears that the sun is just about to rise.

"...Let's watch the sunrise. I've never seen it before." She muttered just loud enough so that only Danjin could hear.

"Oh, what a romantic suggestion! I didn't know you had it in you to suggest such a thing!"

"Why are you taking this conversation in a weird direction? I just said I wanted to watch the sunrise!" Feeling her cheek burn, Katsuri retorted back with gritted teeth.

"Hehe, I'm just joking. Alright then, our first destination is watching the sunrise! Let's go, I think I know just the perfect place to witness the full glory." Danjin stored the brochure and extended her hand to Katsuri, who immediately grabbed it and followed along.

While on the way to their desired location, a thought passed through Katsuri's mind.

'Wait, if the Carnevale started today and Rover just arrived yesterday... doesn't that mean that everything that happened inside patch 2.0 happened in just one night!?'

...It was a compelling thought process, but it does make sense.

Which meant that... Rover had to tackle the entirety of Ragunna in under 24 hours.

"..." That damn Rover has got mad amount of stamina if she could still fight against Phrolova's personal Echo even without any sleep or rest.

...Well, at least she probably didn't face off against hordes of Tacet Discords like she herself did last night, right?

'What am I saying, I only killed one and the rest scattered on their own.'

It can't even be categorized as a fight, it's just a Pokemon battle at that point and her first attack was Super Effective!

That tentacled guy died immediately with one attack...

Probably a Glass Cannon build. A lot of damage but also very brittle.

Speaking of which... where'd her sword go?

Using her free hand, she swiped over her Tacet Mark behind her neck, 'Faith too, she hasn't been responding to any of my call since last night.'

Perhaps Danjin would know where her sword had gone off to. After all, her sword was originally on Danjin before it was suddenly summoned into her hand.

"Um, Danjin."

"Do you have a question, Katsuri?" Danjin slightly turned her head while walking. "Also, isn't it awkward for you to be so far back with me leading your hand? Come here, walk right beside me."

With a slight pull, Katsuri was now walking side by side with Danjin.

"So? What is it?" Danjin showed a soft smile, one that Katsuri is now used to seeing.

'The people here are nice...'

"Where'd you place my weapon?" She asked.

"Oh, that? Well, I figured that you should have it on you by now." She said mysteriously.

Confused, Katsuri questioned about what she meant.

"You see, us Resonators have our privileges too, you know? There's a lot of inconvenient thing that the common people have to deal with that us Resonators have the easier road with. For example, weapons and equipment." Danjin explained.

"That weapon that you have, it's already been contracted to you. Quite a rare case for a Resonator, in actuality. But it's not that it never happened."

"Your sword has its own sentience, which meant that it chose you. I discovered last night while you were away that the sword was probably itching to be wield by you. So, even as it disappeared into thin air, I figured that you should've had it on your person."

Danjin finished her explanation as they entered a tall building and entered an elevator.

While listening to the elevator music, Danjin continued, "How about it? Have you figured out how to summon your weapon out, yet?"

"...No. Can you please teach me how?" Katsuri said silently.

"It should've been stored inside of your Tacet Mark. This is the only kind of tatoo that actually brought benefit to the individual. Here let me take a look at yours...?"

As Danjin turned Katsuri around, she was surprised by what she saw.

Behind Katsuri's neck... the previously empty black line had a single star on it.

'What... This is unprecedented! The Tacet Mark changed!?'

It was an unbelievable situation. Katsuri's Tacet Mark which was empty previously had gained a star, as if it had evolved or some kind.

Mind you, a Tacet Mark will always stay the same as it was when it first appeared, no matter what happened to it.

Even if that chunk of the skin was carved out of the individual's body, it'd still appear on the bone inside.

And it will never change in term of shape or size.

That's just the rule that have been set for the Tacet Mark that existed on a Resonator's body.

'Did my eyes lied to me when I first laid eyes on them? I should ask that acolyte about what she saw so that I could make sure...'

"What's wrong? Why'd you stop explaining?" Katsuri suddenly asked.

Finally out of her thoughts, Danjin responded with feigned nonchalant, "It's nothing, as I was saying, this Tacet Mark of yours is very useful. If you just practice hard enough, you should be able to summon your sword through it."

Danjin didn't say anything about her concern, merely making sure that Katsuri wouldn't see everything in the wrong way.
