The Great Oni
Volume (1) Chapter (26)
When the body's Overall Strength reaches Level 1, the dormant Qi-sense buried inside the body must be awakened.
After that, three dantians have to be constructed, and that stage is called the Martial Master stage.
The third stage is called Level 3—the Martial Spirit stage—and at that stage the cultivation method must be studied in depth.
Understanding of the cultivation method is divided into four tiers—basic, comprehension, proficiency, and perfection—and once the basic tier is attained, one can step into the Martial Spirit stage.
However, grasping the methods is extraordinarily hard; even practitioners blessed with talent can spend an entire lifetime studying and still die before ever reaching the proficiency tier.
Li Fan had no intention of cultivating this method, yet the moment he glanced at it by accident, he reached the perfection tier.
Li Fan smiled: "A god's capacity to learn is insane; I only skimmed through it like this."
Because of that understanding, even before he opened his Qi-sense, he had already reached a realm where he could manifest a Martial Spirit and hold it in his hand.
Li Fan twirled the sword a little and then stored it away again.
Such a paltry, ordinary, trash-level cultivation—he certainly would not practise it.
Whatever the case, his current self was already thousands of times stronger than the Martial Spirit stages.
Therefore, even if he cultivated it now, he would not become extraordinarily stronger.
For that reason, he decided he would later absorb a truly great being's Martial Spirit and cultivate only after he became an Empire-level Martial Spirit.
According to the Martial Spirit inheritance information, cultivation ranks are divided into Practitioner, Martial Master, Martial Spirit, Martial Lord, Martial King, and Martial Empire.
Even if Li Fan practised the Fara cultivation and reached perfection, his ceiling would still only be the Martial Lord level.
Even so-called prodigies can barely touch the proficiency tier; the perfection tier is even farther away.
Li Fan relaxed his muscles a little and climbed back onto the bed.
Only one minute remained before the clock struck nine.
Although not as wildly excited as before, Li Fan was still a little thrilled.
With his current toughness, even a nuclear bomb would leave him with nothing more than superficial scratches.
Thanks to his resilience, even those scratches would heal within seconds.
Still, the stronger, the better, right?
Hence Li Fan had already decided to accept injuries in exchange for new abilities.
While Li Fan was lost in thought, the clock hit nine.
At that instant, a huge translucent screen appeared in front of him.
```
[Number 1 – Pass through the Buffalo Deity's Trial]
[Difficulty – Deepest Hell]
[Reward – God-Rank Nameless Fragment Martial Spirit]
[God-Rank Nameless Fragment Martial Spirit – the System will grant a random fragment most suited to the host]
[Restriction – because a God-Rank Martial Spirit is overwhelmingly powerful, the System will rest for 30 days after granting this reward]
[Number 2 – Pass through as an Agent]
[Difficulty – Life]
[Reward – Interworld Agent]
[Interworld Agent – may live 10 years in another world and bring the Demon-Energy Master along]
[Restriction – the System must expend extreme effort for this; it will rest for about 20 days]
[Number 3 – Pass through the Hopeless Trial]
[Difficulty – Hell]
[Reward – Emperor of Grudging Spirits]
[Emperor of Grudging Spirits – able to control grudging spirits]
[Restriction – may control only spirits below Emperor rank that died with great resentment]
[Restriction 2 – because this power is immense, the System must rest for 7 days after granting it]
All three choices were outstanding and extremely useful.
First, the God-Rank Martial Spirit was certainly stronger than the Empire rank and was exactly what Li Fan both wanted and needed.
Second, living ten years in another world and taking the Demon-Energy Master along was attractive as well.
Li Fan was not a wicked, malicious fiend, so he would not torment ordinary or good people.
Yet every world, without exception, is rife with evildoers.
If for ten years he could hunt bad people in that other world and harvest their energy through the Demon-Energy Master, he would surely return vastly stronger.
The third option, Emperor of Grudging Spirits, was also tempting.
Countless people have died unjustly in this world, unable to move on to the afterlife.
Thus many powerful resentful ghosts must be wandering about.
If anything tried to bother him, he could simply dispatch a few minions and the matter would be settled.
Because all three powers were colossal, even the System warned it would need rest.
When the System gave him the God physique earlier, it had not needed rest even though it claimed its energy was drained.
Before learning about Martial Spirits, Li Fan would probably have chosen the second option.
Now, however, he understood just how useful Martial Spirits were.
He estimated that if he reached the Martial Empire rank, he would become vastly stronger than he was now.
More impressively, Li Fan could absorb and wield spiritual energy.
His physical body was already tremendously strong, and he could also use mental energy.
Therefore, rather than further boosting an already formidable body, he decided to choose the God-Rank Martial Spirit.
