Are you okay?

The Great Oni

Volume (1) Benoni chapter (31)

The current park is the largest in Europe, and because today is a school holiday, it is bustling with crowds.

His parents and other relatives walked in small groups, while Li Fan split off, sitting beside the path and eating various street foods with relish.

Before long, the skewers were gone.

Li Fan licked his tongue and headed toward an ice-cream shop.

In front of the shop there were two lines, packed with people.

Suddenly, because a young man standing in the adjacent line looked unusual, Li Fan looked carefully.

That young man appeared to be about eighteen years old, wearing a shirt and shorts, dressed lightly.

His body was solidly muscular, and his physical overall Strength was roughly equal to three grown men.

Normally, a person that sturdy without being a cultivator is rare, but not unheard of.

What drew Li Fan's focus was that although the youth was this healthy, his life-energy should have been at least sixty to eighty years.

Yet the young man's life-energy was only about twenty years, and even with Li Fan's Demon Energy Master he could not see any problem.

Because Li Fan stared for a little while, the young man frowned and asked him a question.

Li Fan, thinking it was nothing too strange, ignored it and focused only on his ice cream.

"Hey, isn't that Arsham?" A skinny boy of about fourteen pointed at Li Fan's half-brother and spoke.

"Yeah, that's Arsham. Did this guy start trouble with Jinny? Now he's bumping into Jinny's older brother," another boy said after looking closely.

"Hah, that kid's done for. Jinny's big bro is real mafia. Let's take this kid to Jinny," the three boys, who were Arsham's trouble-makers, whispered among themselves.

The three of them alone would never dare fight Arsham, who knew boxing, but Jinny's older brother was a genuine tough guy—they'd once watched him beat up five street punks single-handedly.

Li Fan had already spent roughly 3,000 dollars on food and still held some fruit in his hand.

Suddenly the boys stirred up Arsham and told him, "If you've got guts, follow us!"

Arsham, confident from past victories over those boys, saw only three of them and followed.

Even from a distance, amid the noisy crowd, Li Fan heard everything.

Bored and half-full, Li Fan trailed them loosely.

The three boys led Arsham down a cleared side alley.

"Haha, Arsham, maybe you can box, but you can't handle us now—my big bro is here," Jinny laughed wickedly as he stepped out from where he'd been waiting.

"So you're Arsham? They say you're tough—care for a little bout?" a man sitting behind Jinny stood up.

The man wore a shirts and shorts, showing off a muscular build.

"Hah, you guys can't beat me, so you're crying for big brother? Fine, let's see what happens," Arsham answered, blood boiling, and faced Jinny's brother.

Jinny's brother stood about six-foot-three; Arsham was only around five-ten.

"That guy…" Li Fan's eyes lit up from atop the wall where he watched.

He recognized him as the same unusually sturdy youth—three times tougher than normal—whose life force was only about twenty years; the one who had caught Li Fan's attention earlier.

"Against anyone else Arsham might win, but not this guy," Li Fan shook his head.

Three-times overall strength meant not just strength but also speed.

Earlier, when Li Fan was only twice as fast as normal, he could dismantle ten thugs alone; no matter how skilled a boxer, Arsham couldn't even land a clean hit on Jinny's brother.

While Li Fan thought this through, Arsham and Jinny's brother began trading blows.

Arsham opened with a straight punch.

Jinny's brother didn't even try to dodge—he caught Arsham's fist with a palm.

"Aw, how soft—did you skip lunch?" Jinny's brother sneered, squeezing hard.

"Agh!" Arsham cried out in pain and threw his right with all his might.

Jinny's brother dodged with a taunting grin and buried a hook in Arsham's ribs.

"Boom!"

"Ugh!" Arsham dropped to one knee in agony.

"Haha! This is the 'strongest kid in school'? Back in my day, you'd be nothing but a punching bag," Jinny's brother mocked and stomped Arsham's head.

The four cronies at the side hooted with laughter.

"Hah—you talk big for someone who's so 'strong,'" Li Fan chuckled lightly from the wall.

Hearing a voice above, Jinny's brother squinted and looked up.

The wall was rather high, adjoining a building—about twenty meters tall.

Li Fan hopped down casually, landing softly.

"This kid…" Jinny's brother, Jinwa, felt a twinge of unease at how easily Li Fan had leapt down.

"Who are you?" Jinwa wiped his nose and asked.

"Li Fan?" Arsham, still clutching his ribs, muttered weakly upon seeing him.

"So you're his big brother?" Jinwa smirked.

Li Fan said nothing, only looked at Jinwa with mild disdain.

Veins bulged on Jinwa's forehead; he lunged at Li Fan with explosive speed.

Li Fan kept both hands in his pockets, slid a foot, and kicked.

"Wh-shooom!"

Jinwa never even saw the strike—his nose bridge snapped and his head reeled.

His toughness let him recover; he swung again.

"Wh-shooom!" Another lightning kick sent Jinwa flying—two teeth snapped free.

Blood streamed from his broken nose, spattering his lips.

Jinny's four cronies stared in terror.

"Li Fan…" Arsham was stunned.

He was a good fighter; against normal punks he could drop five at once.

But Jinny's brother had crushed him without effort, and now Li Fan had floored Jinwa with invisible kicks.

"Dog-spawn!" Jinwa cursed, still defiant, and launched a high kick at Li Fan's head.

Before his knee reached height, Li Fan's kick met him again—four more teeth clattered out.

"Ugh—cough!" Jinwa spat blood, nearly fainting despite his triple toughness.

"What, not coming? Guess it's my turn," Li Fan still hadn't taken his hands from his pockets.

Because Jinwa couldn't step forward, Li Fan took one stride and hooked a spinning kick across his skull.

"Whump!"

Air burst from the blow; Jinwa blacked out instantly.

"Are you okay?" Li Fan ignored Jinwa and his four lackeys, helping Arsham up.

"I'm fine, Brother Li—thanks," Arsham smiled gratefully.

Li Fan had no interest in dealing with the four cronies; in truth, he barely cared at all.

Arsham, however, clenched his fists and charged—the four, paralyzed by fear of Li Fan and facing a skilled boxer, were out cold within three minutes.
