Chapter 114: The Throne of Nothing
—Council of Reckoning—
The Spirit Sanctum was full.
Grand Council. Spirit Tribunal. Academic Board.
They gathered in silence.
Marcus Ikemba sat unmoving, expression granite.
Sonia Ikemba, arms crossed, eyes locked on the floor.
Joshua Ikemba, standing, jaw clenched.
Muna Ikemba, draped in mourning black, lightning still coiled around her feet.
Kamharida stood at the head—presiding.
The air was tense. Not from grief. But from blame.
The Veil had gone completely silent.
No new movement. No shadow signatures. No word.
T`halem's awakening had already rewritten the threat landscape.
Now Karen and Cassandra were gone.
---
Kamharida opened the session.
"Everything we feared is in motion. We are no longer dealing with the Veil alone."
No one spoke.
Then—Muna stood.
Trembling. Not from weakness.
From rage.
"You all waited." Her voice cracked. "You watched."
"While my daughter was taken."
Kamharida said nothing.
Joshua spoke, calm but sharp. "You acted on your own. Without telling anyone."
Muna's eyes flared.
"I had to. I branded her soul when she was born. I felt it rupture the moment they touched her."
"I wasn't going to ask for permission."
Sonia cut in coldly. "And now Karen's gone too."
"You led Kamharida into the void without telling her what you were doing."
Kamharida stepped forward.
"I followed her because I could. Not because I was told anything."
The Spirit Tribunal murmured.
One of them, Daizo Ennin, leaned forward.
"And now we face a being who was never meant to return."
"T`halem does not serve the Veil. He allows it. Until he doesn't."
Marcus spoke finally.
"There will be no internal war over this. Muna's decision was reckless. But we can't afford fractures."
Muna didn't apologize.
She sat back down.
---
Dean Elandra of the Academic Board stood.
"Two students taken. One lost her soul core. The other… became something else."
"And now T`halem has both."
A pause.
Then Kamharida looked around the chamber.
"I have Mirex in custody. The Veil is hiding. But they won't remain hidden for long."
She turned to Marcus.
"When they move again—we end this."
---
The meeting adjourned.
No votes. No debates.
Just decisions.
And war on the horizon.
