LEO

"I asked Who the hell are you?''The man demanded, and just as Ryn was about to answer him, he suddenly heard a roar. A deep, monstrous, and ear-splitting roar that sent shivers running down his spine. 

Leo looked up to see a massive shape break through the clouds. A gray dragon appeared. Its wings were spread wide, and the scales were gleaming like molten rock. The sun had taken on its form, and it was the biggest Creature Leo had ever seen. 

A dragon. A real dragon. 

Just like him, all the students turned towards the dragon as it descended towards them. 

Leo suddenly screamed as the dragon looked as if it was heading directly toward him. He shut his eyes, expecting to get hit, but nothing happened, and instead, he felt the thunderous clash of the dragon. 

Laughter burst from the group of students around him. 

''is he serious?'' 

''who let that omega up here?'' 

''Did he think the dragon was going to eat him?'' 

Leo heard the whispers from the student, and at that moment, he wished he could disappear, 

He slowly opened his eyes and saw that the dragon was beside the master. ''what…'' Leo couldn't believe that dragons could be real as he stared at the one in front of him. Its wings were of burnt copper, its eyes burning gold that locked up to his. 

It didn't move to attack, and instead, the dragon watched him. 

''it seems that the omega hasn't seen a dragon before,'' someone from the crowd said, and every student laughed. 

Leo looked up to see that it was the boy who had suddenly attacked him on his way to his room. He was the boy who bullied Ryn in his memory. 

''oh, Chen, don't scare him like that. I think he is about to faint,'' another boy joked, but Leo wasn't focused on the boy. Instead, he was looking at Chen. 

There was something about him that he wanted to find out. Something he had done to Ryn. 

''Oh, shut up, Hao, a Familiar voice sounded, and Leo looked through the crowd to see Mira. Why are you late?'' she mouthed, and just as he was about to answer again, another roar sounded. 

Another dragon appeared in the sky again, and he clenched his fists tightly as a distraction from the fear that had grown in his heart. 

The dragon was a black one, flecked with crimson, like blood soaked into stone, but it had a rider this time. As the dragon flew down, Leo saw it. 

Kael. 

Leo's breath caught in his throat, and he felt his chest flutter at the sight of him. Their eyes met, and he expected that Kael would say something to him, but instead, he passed by him without stopping. 

Like he didn't exist. 

His shoulder stiffened, and he clenched his fists tighter. Now, he was being ignored again, and a knot tightened in his stomach at the rejection. 

''I asked you a question twice, omega! Who the hell are you, and why did you come to my class late?'' Master Theron demanded. 

Leo cleared his throat and introduced himself. ''I am le…'' he corrected himself immediately. ''Ryn varyn.'' 

A look of recognition flashed on his face. Still, it quickly changed into a deep frown. You are the famous omega,'' his tone was condescending just like everyone else, which made Leo wonder just how many people hated his guts. ''Ryn vary!'' he shouted. 

''yes…''leo stammered. ''yes master.'' 

''Since you arrived late, I will have to punish you cause no one is allowed to join the training once they come after the passing time.'' 

''but…'' Leo wanted to explain himself, but he was cut off with a hand thereon raised at him. 

''I do not care what your excuses are, omega, but no one comes late to my class. Everyone in draconic knows that, and I always suspend comers, but,'' he paused and narrowed his eyes at Leo. ''I am in a great mood, so I will make an exception,'' he told him and pointed towards a large door. 

Leo's eyes looked towards the door. That is the equipment shed. Since you arrived late, you will serve.'' 

Serve. He already knew what that meant even without being told. The master had ordered him to be an errand boy for everyone present at the training. 

''clean the equipment and bring them here!'' he ordered. 

''yes, master,'' This time, he didn't stutter, but he felt his heart racing so fast that he thought it would burst. 

The whispers from the students started again, and they began laughing as he walked past them, heading towards the doors. 

''Looks like Ryn hasn't changed even after being mated to the alphas.'' Someone said. 

''he is still useless as ever.'' 

''Always going to be a servant.'' 

Leo clenched his fists tightly as he walked out of the courtyard. He arrived at the shed on time and saw the equipment he was to clean and bring to the training ground. There were long, weighted spears, dragon-scale armor pieces, sigil stones, and swords. 

There were at least fifty of them, and for a moment, he just stood staring at the equipment and hating his life. 

''This place sucks,'' he groaned and then looked around for a piece of clothing, and then he started cleaning. He began with the spears and then moved on to the dragon-scale armor, finishing with the swords. 

Leo had no idea how many minutes or hours he had spent on the cleaning, but when he finished, his hands were shaking. ''Now, time to take it back,'' he muttered to himself and picked up the swords. 

Just as he opened the door to step outside, someone was blocking his way. 

His heart started racing as he came face-to-face with Chen. Ever since their encounter, he had been trying not to face him again, and seeing him made Leo gasp. He took a step backward, and the sword in his hand dropped to the ground. 

''Well, hello, Ryn,'' Chen laughed and kicked him on the chest with his legs. 

He wasn't alone. There were three others with him, and as they stepped inside, they shut the door behind them. 

''wha…'' Leo was lost for words. 

He couldn't even speak in front of them without stuttering like an idiot. Never in his life has he ever felt so intimidated. 

''what are you doing here?''he managed to ask. 

''Look at you,'' Chen laughed. ''Still pathetic even after being mated to three alphas!'' He kicked him again in the stomach, and Leo ended up falling to the ground. 

One of the boys was familiar, and Leo recognized him as the one who had held him against the pillar; the other two boys were his minions. "Looking at him shaking like a fool," one of the boys mocked. 

''Do you think you belong here? You think just cause you showed off some runes and fell into some powerful bond that you are one of us?'' 

Two of the boys picked him up from the ground. 

Leo knew that he couldn't remain silent, and so he spoke up. ''I am…'' 

A hard slap cracked across his face. The boys let go of him, and he staggered to the side, knocking into the spears, which clattered loudly to the floor. 

''How dare you show your face to the training ground? Do you think a pathetic omega like yourself would ever become a dragon rider?'' Chen loomed over him. ''Ryn, you are nothing but a bastard, trash, and a worthless omega.'' 

Just as he said this, Leo blinked, and he saw another memory. 

A flash, longer this time. 

He was on the ground with his hands tied behind his back as Chen hit him over and over again while he begged for mercy and then he called him brother. 

Leo gasped as his eyes met Chen's. He had not expected that they were brothers. Mira had not mentioned it to him because he had never asked. 

''you…'' 

Chen slapped him again and grabbed his collar, and then slammed him against the wall knocking the breath from his lungs. ''you are not even worth calling my blood because you are a bastard son of a whore! You should have stayed in the dirt, Leo, and drowned when you were pushed into that river, but somehow you got mated to three powerful alphas!'' he screamed and kicked his legs. 

Leo's knee gave out, and Chen let go, letting him collapse. He didn't get up fast enough, and soon, a booth had hit his side, then another. 

The others joined in. Four kicks to the ribs—one to the back and two on his stomach. 

Leo covered his face as he moaned in pain. He had expected to scream, but he didn't because the body was used to the torture. 

How had Ryn survived this? He thought as the boots hit him harder, and he felt the pain radiating all over his body. 

Then it stopped. 

Chen crouched beside him again and laughed. ''remember that you are nothing. You will always be my punching bag, Ryn, even if you get mated to alphas. I will always treat you the same!'' 

Leo chest heaved, and his breath shuddered. He wished that he could fight back, punch Chen in the face for treating him like shit, but he couldn't do anything. It was at this moment that he wished he had the rune power he had used on Sylas and Kael, but he didn't know how he had obtained it. 

So he could only remain on the ground while treated like a scumbag.

''know your place, brother, and don't forget that I could make you disappear if I want!'' Chen grabbed a handful of his hand and pulled until Leo screamed in pain. ''I will be watching you, and I will make sure that the bond between you and the alphas is broken!"' he threatened and pushed his face to the ground. ''let us go, boys. If the master knows we are gone for long, he will figure this out.'' 

The boys all nodded in response and then turned to leave the room. 

Leo remained on the ground, bruised and his body shaking. Blood mingled with dirt on his palms, and despite trying to hold it in, the tears slipped down his face. 

He felt humiliated, worthless, and weak and wondered how long Ryn had put up with the abuse. 

Then, suddenly, he smelled his pheromone. His eyes widened in shock as he lifted his head to see Kael standing there at the doorway with his arms folded and staring at him. 

Had he been watching all along? Had he done nothing? Why didn't he stop them?

His vision blurred again, but this time not from the pain. Both of them just stared at each other without exchanging words. 

And then, Kael turned and walked away.
