Enter Villain, Exit Prince

~The Void King~

"It's today," he muttered as he stared outside his crumbling tower. He looked at the sky that never changed, the thick sunless sky, and sighed heavily.

"Yet another year to be disappointed because there is no sign of the dragon king," he complained, rubbing the black bird standing on his layers of hooded cloak.

His face was hidden behind the veils of dark fabric, and the only thing that could be seen was the thin curve of a pale jaw and the sharp line of a mouth that hadn't smiled in centuries.

The bird cawed.

"Still watching, little crow?" the Void King asked, his voice deeper than earlier, and he set the crow down on the edge of his tower.

From behind him, another figure approached, hooded like him, and his voice sounded even deeper than his. "Another year, another dragon ceremony."
