What Do You Miss The Most?

On the next day, Davion was again busy with work while thinking about what suitable gift he would give for his son's birthday later.

But at the same time, he couldn't lie to himself that he also kept thinking about Claudia.

He wondered if Claudia would come today or if she was still busy with her work.

"It's 11.45pm, is she coming or not?" he muttered.

His stomach was already hungry, and he could have ordered a sandwich like the other day for his secretary to buy him a sandwich at the cafeteria.

Even so, Davion felt that the sandwich was still not enough for him.

Maybe it wasn't that he ate a small portion, but it wasn't Claudia's cooking.

Now he was questioning himself, whether he actually wanted the food Claudia made or if what he really wanted was her presence with him.

"It feels like I'm a teenager thinking about something insignificant like this. I have much more important things to think about," he said.

He put his pen down on the table and leaned back in his chair. Davion let out a long sigh while loosening a little the tie he was wearing because he felt tired.

Grooowwll

His stomach rumbled again, signaling that he was getting hungry and Davion had no choice but to ask Alex to bring him a sandwich and a glass of water.

'It looks like he won't be coming back today,' she thought.

He pressed the button on the phone on the table and spoke to Alex.

"Alex, bring me two more tuna sandwiches with a glass of water. I..."

Clack

Suddenly, the door to his office opened and a woman walked into his office without knocking.

"Why did you ask Alex to bring you a tuna sandwich and a glass of water for? I came to bring you lunch," said none other than Claudia.

The woman he had been waiting for, even since yesterday. Because he felt like something was missing when he didn't see her face for a day.

"Ms. Claudia? I thought you wouldn't come again today," he said as he straightened his seat.

"Didn't I promise to bring you chicken mushroom soup? There's no way I could forget that promise and not come to see you again," she said as she tidied up the document files on the table.

She then took out two lunch boxes. One for Davion and one for her. Coupled with a box shaped like a bowl that turned out to contain mushroom chicken soup.

"Eat it, the soup is still very warm so it will feel good in your stomach," Claudia said.

Davion swallowed, looking at all the food that tasted so good in front of him, especially since he was hungry.

"Thank you," he said and tasted the soup that was still warm and also the lunch that Claudia had made for him.

His stomach that had been rumbling since earlier now felt much better, especially with the delicious food. But it wasn't just the food that made him feel good but her presence in front of him right now also made Davion feel better.

Claudia smiled seeing how Davion was enjoying her homemade dishes.

"I'm sorry I couldn't come yesterday because of some sudden business. Did you miss me?" Claudia asked.

"Of course I missed you," Davion replied.

Instantly Claudia's heart seemed to blossom because she heard that Davion missed her. Realizing his own words, Davion tried to correct her by saying that he missed her cooking.

"I mean I missed your cooking. Yesterday I was very hungry and I didn't know what to have for lunch because I'm used to having your cooking for lunch. So I..."

Claudia knew that Davion was actually telling the truth with his first answer. Because like everyone else said, the first answer is the one that comes from the heart.

And she was pretty sure that right now he was happy with where she was.

"You know you're very bad at lying, Mr. Davion," she said with a chuckle.

He looked away, focused on his food and didn't want to answer her.

'The more I answer her questions, the more I look like a fool for pining over someone who isn't mine,' he thought.

"Just eat your lunch. Don't get sick because you're late for lunch," Davion said trying to change the subject.

"Alright alright." She still chuckled a little and ate the food in her lunch box.

There was a brief silence between the two of them, until Davion opened his mouth again.

"The day after tomorrow is Yohan's birthday. Have you prepared anything for him?" he asked to find a topic of conversation between them.

Claudia was somewhat taken aback when Davian brought up Yohan. Of course she didn't want to ruin their lunch together just to talk about a jerk guy like him.

But she knew she couldn't avoid the question and answered it.

"Yes, I have prepared something for him. I don't know if he'll like it or not, but I hope he'll like the surprise I'll give him," she replied with a smile.

Hearing that, Davion felt a little relieved because it meant that Claudia and his son's relationship was fine.

Although there was a nagging feeling inside him because of a bad thought that entered his brain where he really wanted to have Claudia.

He immediately dismissed and buried that feeling deeply. Not wanting to be the third person present, just like the man who snatched his ex-wife away from him.

"I'm glad to hear that. I don't know why lately I've seen Yohan and you a little distant because maybe Yohan has started to get busy with his new job," he said.

Sooner or later Davion would realize that Claudia intended to stay away from his son. And at this exact moment, Claudia started talking about how Yohan had changed since meeting Stephanie.

"They often spend time together. Yohan doesn't even reply to my messages anymore whenever he's with her. He seems to be very focused on Ms. Stephanie, probably because she is much more attractive than me," Claudia explained while looking down.

Pretending to be sad to attract Davion's sympathy.

And of course he was also aware of that, where Yohan seemed to prioritize Stephanie over Claudia.

He was sure that every time his son left the house, he would meet Stephanie.

'Whereas Claudia helped him so much all these years and sincerely did whatever she could for him. But that child wasted a woman as good and sincere as Claudia. That boy has gone too far,' Davion thought as he gripped his spoon tightly.

Perhaps at first Davion was only concerned about Claudia being mistreated by Yohan. Like a father who sees his own son's lover being neglected.

But this time is different, now Davion sees this situation as a man who sees the woman he likes being abandoned by her own lover. And that made him really upset.

'If Yohan can't take good care of her, then I'll take that role.'
