Chapter 9

"No, Kaelen, you can't just eat moonberries raw."

Smiling, I took the bright red berries from his hand and shook my head. "These are medicinal herbs, not a snack."

He made a face, then suddenly wrapped his arms around me from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder. "I'm hungry."

It's been three months since we returned to our little town.

I've reopened the herb shop, and Kaelen—this former Alpha with amnesia—is now seen by the townsfolk as a kind, if a bit "quirky" husband.

He doesn't remember his former power or status, but he's kept his werewolf strength and instincts. During the day, he helps me gather herbs and carry heavy things; at night, he transforms into a majestic black wolf, watching over me by my side.

Beta drops by every now and then with news from the pack.

Blackwood is gradually getting steady under his lead, and the dust-up with Silvermoon has also cooled, thanks to a few smaller packs stepping in to mediate.
