The Story of Celestial Recruitment

Kevin was stunned (it seemed like he had been in a state of stunned disbelief frequently these past few days) to hear a statement that almost choked him. At this moment, he could hardly believe his own ears: "Did you just say... what?"

"The Temporal-Spatial Administration Bureau," said the silver-haired woman with a smile. Although she exuded a cold and distant aura when not speaking, her smile melted away that aura, making her seem approachable.

Kevin asked in a dazed manner, "No, I meant the second half of what you said."

"Oh, the Office stationed in Wangbatuo," nodded the silver-haired woman happily, recognize so readily.

Kevin almost wanted to bang his head against something... but better to do it outside where nothing valuable could be broken. However, he really did feel like banging his head somewhere! How could the words "Temporal-Spatial Administration Bureau" and "Office stationed in Wangbatuo" be combined? Moreover, the white-haired girl didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with it at all. Looking at her expression, it was as if it was perfectly natural. Kevin's mood upon hearing this sentence was the same as hearing the following sentence: "Old Wang has three children. The eldest is called Daming, the second Erming, and the third Eisenbrick William Hannibal..."

But the silver-haired woman's words were so reasonable that Kevin couldn't think of a retort: There was indeed a Wangbatuo nearby.

"Heh... heh," Kevin chuckled stiffly and shifted his body on the thickly cushioned chair, which felt like a cotton ball. He was worried that hearing something else shocking might cause him to fall to the ground. "The Temporal-Spatial Administration Bureau, huh... Oh yeah, what did you say your name was just now?"

He suddenly remembered that the other person had introduced herself earlier, but at that time he was too caught up in his emotions to hear clearly.

The silver-haired woman didn't mind at all and was even better-tempered than expected: "I'm Raven 12345. Remember it well, it's important."

"Including the numbers after it?"

"Including the numbers after it. In fact, the numbers are the essence," nodded the woman who called herself Raven 12345 forcefully, "to prevent confusion with other Ravens. So, any other questions?"

Kevin's mind flashed through a bunch of settings like android clones, dark forces, evil armies plotting to overthrow the Earth, complete with a 200,000-word text, love and hatred among a dozen protagonists, and three sets of romantic relationships - it wasn't that his imagination was too vivid, it was just that he had watched too many movies. However, he wisely didn't ask where the other Ravens were (judging from experience, he thought it was a taboo question. Of course, he would later realize how far off the mark he was), but instead scratched his chin: "Raven 12345... ah, quite a creative name, heh, heh. So, what do you want with me?"

The silver-haired woman smiled slightly, "There should be a strange creature living in your house now, right? If my calculations are correct, it's a 'werewolf'."

Kevin instantly tensed up, his muscles trembling uncontrollably. He had previously considered this the utmost secret and intended to guard it fiercely, believing that Lily's identity must not be exposed. It was his last futile attempt to save his familiar daily life, but he didn't expect this mysterious woman to know everything! However, he soon relaxed. Since the mysterious person in front of him was also an "outsider," there was nothing he could do about her knowing some things. Kevin was well aware that he was almost completely in the dark about a certain mysterious realm, so he couldn't afford to react too excitedly, as it would put him at a disadvantage.

Since Raven 12345 didn't mention Lily, it seemed that her intelligence was a bit outdated. Naturally, Kevin wouldn't take the initiative to meddle either.

He nodded, "Indeed, but should this be taboo? Does your Temporal-Spatial Administration Bureau handle this kind of thing?"

"There's no taboo. I'm just reminding you that more strange creatures will move into your house in the future. It's your future job," Raven 12345 casually said something shocking. "The organization has high hopes for you..."

"Wait a minute!" Kevin couldn't help but jump up, "Did you arrange all this?!"

"Not currently, but it will be in the future," Raven 12345 shrugged, "Anyway, you've already had contact with that 'werewolf' named Lily. And I happen to need a helper. You're perfect for this job."

"What exactly do you do?" Kevin frowned. He felt that Raven 12345 in front of him was somewhat incoherent, always starting to talk to herself out of nowhere and never getting to the point. Why don't you explain what the Temporal-Spatial Administration Bureau does?!

"Us? Our group is huge," Raven 12345 scratched her nose, "The Xiling Empire is vast, managing countless universes with numerous departments and complex divisions, each with its own responsibilities. You can roughly regard us as gods for easier understanding. By the way, we only recently transitioned into a godly race as a whole. The organization is young, but youth brings opportunities. As for the Temporal-Spatial Administration Bureau, it's a department under the empire specifically responsible for managing various universes, handling information transmission, guiding and regulating travel between universes, enhancing world cohesion, and so on... Anyway, that's what the newly issued document from above says. It might change in the future. I'm a grassroots cadre of the Temporal-Spatial Administration Bureau, responsible for trivial matters in this universe - like preventing certain races from causing a doomsday scenario or planning the evolution of celestial bodies. Technically, this isn't my job, but due to some special reasons, I'm covering here. As for you, I need an assistant. I have to manage matters at the entire universal level, so I need agents to handle local trivia. You've been selected. Do you feel awesome?"

Kevin, feeling dizzy and confused after listening to this almost fantastical story, stood up calmly and said, "Thank you, but you're a kind person. Your tokusatsu show is very interesting. Excuse me, where is the exit?"

Raven 12345 didn't even bother to feign surprise, as if she had seen too many similar situations before. After Kevin finished speaking, she lightly snapped her fingers and said, "According to the employment requirements, new probationary auditors need to undergo psychological testing, which has a long duration. Now, I'll conduct the most basic test for you..."

Before Kevin could say anything else, he felt a sudden lightness in his body, and the scenery around him changed dramatically!

The magnificent mansion disappeared, and a heavy darkness surrounded him from all directions. Kevin found himself standing in a void, and then a bright spot suddenly burst forth in this void, radiating light in all directions!

The first to appear was a blob of indescribable, scorching brightness. It couldn't be discerned in structure or had a fixed form. This blob of light rushed towards him with overwhelming force, spreading instantly to the distant horizon. Kevin only had time to blink once before the light had expanded to a scale beyond his comprehension.

Then, the light dimmed, and the ultra-high energy level rapidly declined and degraded. Primitive particles were born in the cooling and successive attenuation. The aftershock of the initial flash blew across the universe, giving birth to the earliest primordial nebulae, which laid the foundation for future galaxy clusters and giant celestial structures.

Everything continued to cool down. Ancient stars began to form in the dense material of the primordial nebulae, which themselves differentiated into independent galaxy clusters. Localized nuclear reactions replaced the rapid energy of the Big Bang, ushering in a gentler orderly period for all things in the world. As cooling continued, primitive stars also depleted their fuel in rapid combustion, ejecting heavy elements accumulated over the years in successive big bangs. These heavy elements were the first highly stable substances to appear after the "initial flash." They flew, collided, fused, and were captured by newborn young stars along the paths indicated by the remnants of the stars' light.

The first stellar systems were born.

Matter became thinner and thinner. The restless galaxies also became stable after releasing a large amount of energy and consuming a large amount of matter. The complexity of the universe began to increase. Stars evolved, and life reproduced. Kevin felt that his vision had exceeded human understanding. He observed the entire universe from an almost omniscient perspective and immediately saw his goal, which he had been striving to find: near a young star, a blue planet was being covered with green...

Then the screen froze. A line of text floated past his eyes: "Genesis Video Expert Trial Version. Please recharge to continue using."

The scenery around him receded like a tide, and Kevin found himself still sitting in that magnificent large room, with sweat soaking through his shirt. The woman who called herself Raven 12345 looked at him with a smile and said, "This is a record of the evolution of your universe up to now. Of course, some sections have been adjusted in the timeline for your convenience. This wasn't recorded by me but is a snapshot stripped directly from the underlying information of the universe. So you've experienced the Genesis firsthand. How do you feel about it?"
