The buzz of my phone startled me from my heated argument with Ronan. I glanced down to see Willow's name flashing on the screen.
"I need to take this," I muttered, still fighting back tears from our confrontation.
Kaelen, however, moved with surprising speed, snatching the phone from my hand before I could answer.
"Hey!" I protested.
"Willow," he answered, his voice tense. "What's happening?"
I stared at him, indignant that he'd intercepted my call, but something in his expression stopped my complaint. His jaw tightened as he listened.
"Turn on the television," he finally said. "Now."
Silas reached for the remote, clicking through channels until he found a news broadcast. The Prime Minister stood at a podium, flanked by security and government officials.
"What's going on?" I whispered, momentarily forgetting my argument with Ronan as he settled beside me on the couch, our shoulders touching.
