I woke up feeling deliciously warm, nestled against Kaelen's solid chest. His arms wrapped around me protectively, and for the first time in what felt like ages, I felt completely safe. The early morning light filtered through the curtains of his Scottish cottage, casting a soft glow across the bedroom.
"Good morning, beautiful," Kaelen murmured, his voice husky with sleep as he pressed a kiss to my temple.
I smiled, snuggling closer. "Morning. I could get used to waking up like this."
"That's the plan." His fingers traced gentle patterns along my bare shoulder. "How are you feeling? Any morning sickness?"
The mention of my pregnancy brought a flutter of both excitement and nervousness. "Not too bad today. Just a little queasy, but nothing like before."
Kaelen's hand moved to rest protectively over my still-flat stomach. "Our little one's being kind to you today, then."
"So far," I agreed. "Though it's early. The real fun usually starts around mid-morning."
