Chapter 153: The Blood Of War Shall Rain Once More!

Dark lord's POV

As we finally got close to the chaotic battlefield that was happening at my palace, we were suddenly hit with another energy beam. It would seem that Nox had managed to fix her broken weaponry in the time it took us to reach the edge of my capital.

The Crimson Eye was already at her limit, and that last strike pushed her over the edge and we had to crash land in the middle right on top of the battling soldiers on the ground. As I was in no condition to fight, I had one of my men carry me while the rest cleared us a path to the castle.

It was absolute chaos as it seemed like many of the enemy soldiers were nascent souls. Seeing the number of nascent souls I almost suspected it was an attack from the 2nd martial continent, but the timing and mayhem has Nox's name written all over it. Fortunately, they seemed to all be rather low-stage nascent souls, as we still managed to reach the inner gates of the palace without too much fuss, all things considered. However, …

"HAHAHAHAHA! FINALLY! I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!"

In our way was a man I vaguely remember killing a while back.

"*Cough* Out of my way!" I coughed out, as I gestured for my men to shoo him away.

*BOOM*

Unfortunately, this old man, whatever his name was, is a stage or two above the rest of the riffraff and managed to push an attack past my soldiers. I only managed to escape a direct hit because the man carrying me had blocked it with his body. Still, the impact ended up pushing me to the ground.

The man endured being stabbed through the chest as he pushed past my guards to jump at me. In my current state, there is a chance I could perish should I take a point-blank hit from this man. I braced for the impact as he was preparing his fiery palm strike.

*Swoosh*

"Ugh! No! How could this be! A second time!"

*Splatter*

Just as he was about to land his attack, I saw some familiar red droplets swarm the old fool. Piercing and slicing him all over. Moments later, the foolish man, was lying in pieces before me.

"Finally, you are here! Though, I don't suppose you are in any condition to resolve this mess?"

"Fuji! *cough* What in the hell is happening here?"

"I would like to know more myself, along with why the dark lord seems to be on his last leg, but I don't think we have the time!" He said as he pointed at the approaching island that were about to reach the outer walls of the capital.

"Quickly! Turn on the barriers! *wheeze* I need you to buy me some time!" I ordered my men as I had Fuji carry me to the treasury.

But just as we were about to enter my palace a loud voice could be heard through the capital.

"OH, PLAYBOY! REMEMBER WHEN YOU LAUGHED AT ME FOR SAYING I WAS GOING TO RAISE YOUR PALACE TO THE GROUND? WELL, WHO'S LAUGHING NOW, ASSHOLE?"

*BOOM*

The moment she finished her words, an explosion rang out nearby, and soon after the entire palace came crumbling down burying the palace treasury under a mountain of rubble.

"How did she?"

"I TOOK THE LIBERTY OF INSTALLING A STRUCTURAL WEAKSPOT DURING THAT LITTLE FIREFIGHT WE HAD LAST TIME I WAS HERE! I MADE IT SO THAT ONE LITTLE EXPLOTION IN THE RIGHT PLACE WOULD MAKE THE WHOLE THING COME CRUMBLING DOWN! NOW DO YOU REMEMBER THE OTHER THING I PROMISED I WOULD DO!"

"The empire! *Cough*! Fuji, how did these people get into the capital?" I asked feeling a chill run down my spine.

"As I understand it, they took over our spatial gates to launch a surprise attack! You don't think they-!"

Before he could even finish his reply, Nox confirmed my fears.

"WE HIJACKED YOUR LITTLE TRANSPORT SYSTEM TO SYSTEMATICALLY CONQUER EVERY MAJOR CITY WITHIN THE EMPIRE, WHILE WE WERE HAVING OUR LITTLE GAME OF TAG! YOUR EMPIRE IS CRUMBLING AND ALL CAUSE YOU REFUSED TO PAY WHAT YOU OWE ME! IF YOU SURVIVE THIS, REMEMBER THAT! BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T, YOU WON'T BE SO LUCKY NEXT TIME YOU CROSS ME ASSHOLE!"

And at that moment the island of Walpurgis crashed into the capital's barrier.

"NOW WHO PUT THIS PESKY BARRIER HERE! GUESS I BETTER SMASH IT OPEN OR SOMEONE MIGHT GET HURT!" She spoke as I could see her magic canons readying an attack.

"Fuji! I need to get into the treasury!"

"Is that so? Then may haps I could be of some use then!" My tailor, Wong, spoke as he appeared out of the ground.

Wong is an earth attribute nascent soul. With his help, it would hasten the process of unearthing the entrance to the treasury.

 "Fuji you go stall her until I return! Wong, I need you to dig us a pathway to the inner treasury!"

"Oh my! I do not envy you Sir Fuji, I do believe you drew the short straw this day! Haha!"

"Well, should the worst come to pass, I will die knowing the touch of a woman, which is more than I could say about you!"

The two said, showing hints of animosity towards each other.

"*COUGH* THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR YOUR PETTY SQUABBLES!"

"Ah, my apologies! If you would follow me my Lord!" Wong said, gesturing for me to walk into his underground tunnel.

Meanwhile, Fuji flew into the air and headed towards the flying island outside the city.

Shortly after the dark lord had made his way underground, Nox's canon fired its attack at the city barrier, sending cracks across its surface.

"OOPSIE DAISY! SEEMS LIKE I WILL NEED SOME MORE TIME BEFORE I CAN COME IN THERE AND BREAK SOME LEGS! OH, WELL!" Nox said over the island speakerphones.

Just then, Mr. Fuji reached the edge of the barrier.

"Excuse me, can you here me from out there miss?"

"HM? IT WOULD SEEM THERE IS A FLYING LEECH ON MY WINDSHIELD! AND IT CAN TALK! GROSS!"

"So, that is a yes then! I would like to ask you to please put down your arms as we bear no ill will towards your personage! Please, could you be so kind as to tell your soldiers to cease this senseless bloodshed so we can talk this out peacefully!"

"I'LL BE DAMNED, A VAMPIRE WHO DOESN'T LIKE BLOODSHED! WHAT ARE YOU, VEGAN? EITHER WAY, I ALREADY TRIED THAT AND THE PLAYBOY SEXUALLY ASSOULTED ME WHILE MAKING PLANS TO MARRY MY SON! SO, THAT'S THE BIGGEST FATTEST NO YOU COULD GET! SO, IF YOU COULD SCOOT OVER A BIT? YOU'RE KIND OF IN THE SPLASH ZONE OF MY ISLANDS LOAD!" Nox said, before charging up her next attack.

"IF YOU WOULD WAIT A MOMENT? I HAVE SOMETHINGS I WOULD LIKE TO SAY!"

"WELL, IT WILL TAKE A MOMENT TO CHARGE SO GO AHEAD, LEECHMAN!

"I think you may have misunderstood his majesty's intent! He did not mean to insult you! He is just inexperienced! He doesn't know the heart of a woman and may have come off a bit to forceful! He is actually intending to make you the empress of the Dark Empire! If you would only calm down I am sure we cou-!"

"*DING* LAZER'S DONE! *BOOM*"

And just like that, she fired the giant magic cannon through the barrier, cutting Fuji's words short as it hit him directly.

"OKEY DOKEY! I'M GONNA GO BREAK SOME LEGS NOW! YAY!"

"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE YOU MAD WOMAN!" Fuji screamed.

"HM? OH, SO THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE? YOU KNOW TRUE VAMPIRES ARE PRETTY RARE! YOU SHOULD PROBABLY VALUE YOUR LIFE MORE!" Nox said.

Fuji's body was a mess. He was missing both his legs and one arm. All his skin was burned and one of his wings was flapping furiously to keep him in the air because of the holes that were poking through them. Still, his body was quickly recovering, and in less than a minute he was back to normal, limbs and all.

"IF WE ARE GOING TO TALK CAN YOU AT LEAST SHOW SOME MANNERS AND LET ME TALK TO YOU IN PERSON?"

"I GUESS YOU DON'T WANT TO TALK THEN! BYE!" Nox said as she started moving the island.

"THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT! WAIT!"

"WHAT NOW! YOU WANT AN AUTOGRAPH OR SOMETHING?"

"IF IT WILL MAKE YOU LISTEN TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY!"

"OKAY! I WAS DONE WITH THIS GUY ANYWAYS! CATCH!" Nox said as she aimed one of the islands canons towards Fuji and fired Chen Jing who was still tied to a chair and covered in paint.

"WHAT THE-! ELDER JING? WHY ARE YOU HERE! OH! SO, THAT MEANS LATNOS WAS THE FIRST TO FALL!" Fuji said, as he realized how they got ahold of their spatial gates.

"YEP! SO, IF THAT IS ALL YOU WANTED TO KNOW I WILL-!"

"THAT'S NOT WHAT I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT!" He shouted after dropping the poor old man, from a mile in the air.

"THEN COULD YOU GET ON WITH IT! I SORT OF HAVE AN EMPIRE I WAS PLANNING TO CONQUER TODAY!" She said, making the whole thing sound like a chore.

"Miss Nox if you are not interested in his majesty, then what about yours truly?"

"What about you?"

"Would you perhaps be interested in going out some time? I happen to know some restaurants that are truly to die for!"

"ARE YOU CALLING ME FAT?"

"NO! Of course not! Whatever gave you that idea!"

"LAST TIME A VAMPIRE ASKED ME ON A DATE, IT WAS BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO DRAIN A FEW POUNDS FROM MY VAINS!"

She then started making sound effects with her mouth while raining death down upon the capital of the Dark Empire.

"You little devil! *sigh* I was hoping to resolve this peacefully since he was so infatuated with you, but it seems like I have no choice!"

"PEW, PEW! PEW! PEW! BANG! BOOM! OH, NO! IT'S NOX! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! HAHA! FEAR ME FOR I AM THE, WAIT, WHAT'S THAT?" Nox said as she noticed the giant ball of red liquid forming above Fuji.

"WELL, THAT'S NOT GOOD!"

Just then, the blood exploded into a million little droplets that rained down upon the island's barrier, swarming it as they bounced around it. Eventually, cracks started forming. "WELL, THAT IS DEFINITELY NOT GOOD!"

"COME OUT AND FACE ME IF YOU DARE!" Fuji shouted as he flew into the city of Walpurgis.

"SHAME ON YOU! MAKING THE LADY DO ALL THE WORK! WHY DON'T YOU COME TO HOLD THE DOOR FOR ME IF YOU DARE! OR IS THAT WHOLE CHIVALRY THING OUT OF FASHION TOO!"

"Hehe! Fine! If you want to play that way! I'll just destroy the whole city until I find you!"

"SURE, GO NUTS! I WAS GONNA GET RID OF IT! IT SMELLS LIKE OLD MAN FARTS ANYWAYS!"

Fuji then gathered all the blood droplets into giant weapons and started cleaving and smashing away at the city. Meanwhile, Nox was playing getting warmer.

*Smash*

"YOUR GETTING COLDER! I'M NOT IN THAT HOUSE!"

*Swoosh*

"YOU'RE GETTING A LITTLE WARMER! THOUGH IT'S NOT THAT STREET YOU CLEAVED!"

*SPLASH*

"NOW WHY WOULD I BE IN A FOUNTAIN? COLDER!"

"OH, OH! HOT! HOT! SO CLOSE!"

*SMASH*

"X MARKS THE SPOT!" She said as he smashed open the colosseum.

At the center of the arena was a giant red x on the ground.

"IS THIS A GAME TO YOU?" Fuji screamed.

"OF COURSE IT IS! YOU'RE THE ONE WHO WANTED TO PLAY AFTER ALL!"

"When did I ever say that?"

Suddenly, a recording of Fuji's voice started looping on the speakers.

"Hehe! Fine! If you want to play that way! Play that way! Play that way! Play! Play! Play! PLLLAAAYYYY!" It said, eventually focusing in on the word 'Play' while slowing it down.

"I GET IT ALREADY! Just stop looping that! It's irksome!"

"…! Play that way!"

"*sigh* I do hope he won't mind if I tear of a limb or two before dragging her over!" He muttered as he turned his blood weapons into shovels and pickaxes as he began digging.

Eventually, he reached an underground hallway. He jumped down and walked down towards the metal door at the end of the hallway.

"YOU'RE GETTING HOTTER!"

*Creak**Clang*

"Game over!" Fuji said right before he tore off the metal door and walked into the control room.

Inside was a chair facing a ton of screens and countless flashing buttons.

"Congratulations! Now, cohost Nox, tell the man what he won!"

"Hmph! My prize will obviously be-! What?"

Fuji was confused as he reached for the chair only to find that no one was sitting in it. Instead, he heard a voice from a nearby speaker.

"Thank you, Nox! The vampire slut just won an all-expenses paid trip to the fiery pits of the underworld! Tickets are not refundable! What a lucky man!"

*Clang*

Suddenly, the hallway he came from started locking up as thick metal walls started blocking off Fuji's path of escape.

"WHAT IS THIS?!"

"Oh, just me killing you is all!"

"WHERE ARE YOU?! FACE ME YOU COWARD!" Fuji shouted in anger.

"You already know that's not going to work! And besides, I left that place, before the playboy even entered the capital!"

"*Huff**sigh* Then what's your game plan here, little girl?" Fuji said, as all the surging emotions that had been showing on his face moments prior seemed to vanish as if it was all just an act.

"Well, since I'm already done, I might as well just gloat and tell!"

"In addition to that little palace destruction thing, I also made a number of hidden tunnels and secret passageways last I was here!"

"Here?"

"Oh, yeah! I forgot to tell you! I'm in the palace treasury right now! I just finished moving all your valuables! Still trying to pick the lock of the last door, but I'll be done in a moment once the playboy brings the key!"

"This isn't the first time I've been snubbed by some rich asshole after doing a job, and more often than not, if I just let it go, they will think I'm a pushover who they can mess with whenever or however they want!
