Chapter 29: School Beauty Tutoring

Ji Feng stared at Tong Lei, dazed, as if something had stunned him.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?" Tong Lei asked with a soft smile.

That beautiful smile hit Ji Feng right in the heart. For a second, he couldn't think straight.

"This girl... she's just eighteen or nineteen, but her figure is amazing. Even though she's not as mature as Xiao Yuxuan, she has this youthful charm that makes her even more attractive!" Ji Feng swallowed nervously and thought to himself, There's no flower on your face, but you're more beautiful than any flower I've ever seen!

"Hello!"

Tong Lei blushed as she waved her hand in front of Ji Feng's eyes. "Ji Feng, are you dumb or something?"

He blinked, snapping out of it. Embarrassed, he scratched his head. "Squad Leader..."

"Pfft—!" Tong Lei couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing. Her laughter was sweet like silver bells, echoing through the classroom, making Ji Feng feel dizzy all over again.

He sat there, stunned, while Tong Lei tried to stop laughing.

"You silly guy, aren't you going to take out your textbook?" she finally said.

"Textbook? Which one?" Ji Feng asked, confused.

"Oh no!" Tong Lei laughed again and playfully smacked her forehead. "Our class's 'oral English king' has lost his mind!"

"Oral English king?" Ji Feng was shocked. "You mean me?"

"Of course!" Tong Lei pouted a little. "You did so well in English class this morning. The girls in front already gave you that nickname!"

"Wow… that's a bit too much, isn't it?" Ji Feng smiled awkwardly.

"What's wrong with that? Isn't it nice to have girls noticing you?" Tong Lei snorted and sat down beside him.

She didn't notice that her voice had a slightly jealous tone. Tong Lei had always been the quiet, serious type. The daughter of the county party secretary, excellent in studies, and a bit distant from others. She rarely joined the other girls' gossip. But when she heard them talking about Ji Feng today, she felt a little uncomfortable without knowing why.

Ji Feng didn't pick up on this. He was too focused on the soft, pleasant scent coming from her. It made him feel light-headed and strangely happy.

"No, no!" Ji Feng quickly put his hands together and pretended to bow like an ancient scholar. "I wouldn't dare disobey! I am at your service, squad leader!"

"Hehe…" Tong Lei giggled again and lightly tapped him with her hand. "Ji Feng, how come I never noticed before—you're actually pretty funny!"

Ji Feng thought to himself, You only know my name and face until now... There's a lot more you don't know about me.

But of course, he didn't say that out loud.

"Alright, enough joking," Tong Lei finally said, her smile fading into a more serious look. "Ji Feng, seriously, your spoken English is really impressive. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I would've thought it was a recording. How did you get so good?"

"It's not that amazing," Ji Feng said, feeling shy from her praise. "I just watch a lot of English shows and movies after school. I try to copy how they speak. That's all."

"Oh, that sounds like a good idea!" Tong Lei's eyes lit up. "I watch TV too when I go home. I'll try your method! If it works, I'll treat you to a meal!"

Ji Feng scratched his head. "No need to treat me. Honestly, you should let me treat you instead."

"Treat me?" Tong Lei looked surprised.

"Yeah," Ji Feng nodded. "I'm not good at math, physics, or chemistry. If you have time, could you help tutor me? I'll treat you to a meal as thanks!"

"Hmmm… alright!" Tong Lei hesitated, then smiled and agreed. "But let's do it on the weekend. I can't stay too long after school every day—my parents worry if I get home too late."

"I'll walk you home!" Ji Feng blurted out without thinking. As soon as he said it, he regretted it. Crap, that sounds way too forward...

He quickly tried to explain, "I-I didn't mean anything strange by that. I just thought... you know... for safety..."

To his surprise, Tong Lei paused, then smiled sweetly and nodded. "Okay! Deal! Let's start with math today then."

"Uh… okay!" Ji Feng was stunned, but quickly took out his math book and started pointing to the chapters he had trouble with.

"This part works like this..." Tong Lei explained, patient and clear. She was actually a great tutor. She made things easy to understand and gave clear examples.

But Ji Feng wasn't fully focused. Sitting so close to her, the soft fragrance from her hair, her gentle voice, and her graceful presence made him feel like he was in a dream.

He was supposed to be studying, but his heart was racing the entire time...
