Chapter 72: How Can You Sleep at Your Age?

The night sky was already filled with countless stars, as if the true light of day had long since faded.

Gu You returned to his dorm, still thinking about the conversation with Wu Zhangkong. He had mixed truth and falsehood in what he'd told him, but there was no doubt he'd revealed some real feelings.

Now it was time for the real gamble.

He didn't believe that a song like "Lone Brave," which had dominated the Douluo music world for tens of thousands of years, could possibly flop here.

Sure, the technology of his past life might not compare to the magical advancements of the Douluo world — but when it came to songs, art, and film, his past life crushed this world completely. Even ten thousand years later, the real entertainment stars in Douluo had only just begun to rise. Right now, the entertainment industry here was basically a pile of garbage. Who would want to be part of it? Only someone out of their mind.

What the people of Douluo truly revered were figures like the Demon Tang of Shrek Academy or the "Devoted Lover" from the Spirit Pagoda.

Gu You opened his video app, covered his eyes with both hands, and nervously peeked. He had set his notifications to "Do Not Disturb." After all, this was a true all-or-nothing bet!

Slowly, he opened his eyes… and he swore he saw a flash of golden light.

A hundred million jackpot!

Over thirty million views — in just a single day!

What kind of concept was that? Sure, part of it came from Gu You paying to boost the numbers, but even so, the data was mind-blowingly good.

The comment section was flooded with "666" spam. Gu You didn't even know why people were spamming sixes, but he was laughing his head off. Just the video alone would earn him a fortune. And he was still auctioning off the song itself.

Opening the comments, Gu You froze. Over three hundred thousand likes. The official Federation account…

The auction was fierce. Scrolling down, he saw the first bidder had offered a hundred thousand Federation coins. But that wasn't the important part.

The shocking part was at the top: the Spirit Pagoda's official account had offered eighty million. Shrek and Tang Sect had also joined in, though their bids were far lower — after all, who would really want to spend a hundred million on just one song?

But, well, someone actually had.

The Sun-Moon Federation's official account had placed a bid of one hundred million!

The time was four in the afternoon — back when Gu You was still training inside the spirit ascension platform. But by then, no one else dared to outbid. After all, who would challenge the ruling power of an entire nation?

Gu You had said the auction would close at midnight — and he kept his word. But he couldn't understand: why would the Federation want to buy this song?

He clicked open his private messages and saw two notifications from the Sun-Moon Federation's official account.

The first was a picture: a contract, simple and clear, stating that the song's usage rights now belonged to the Federation. Gu You himself could no longer use it.

The second was the electronic signing request. Gu You just had to fill in his primary citizen information, sign electronically, and provide his bank account number.

The Federation would then use the national bank system to transfer a full hundred million coins directly to him.

This was real.

An actual hundred million!

Gu You's heart surged. His first small goal — already achieved?

He hurriedly filled out the forms and sent them off, quietly waiting for tomorrow's confirmation. As long as the money landed in his account, the contract would be official.

"Tang Wulin! How can you sleep at your age?!"

A sudden voice jolted Tang Wulin out of his deep sleep.

He jerked upright in shock — only then realizing Wu Zhangkong was sitting right across from him, his gaze dark and a little annoyed.

Wu Zhangkong had originally intended to let Tang Wulin wake up on his own, but he hadn't expected the boy to sleep this long. Class was about to start! This was the prime of youth, the best time for improvement. He couldn't just let the boy waste it all lying around. He needed to fight, to keep pushing forward!

"Teacher Wu…?" Tang Wulin blinked, surprised. But he instantly understood: last night, Teacher Wu must have stayed up to watch over him.

A warmth filled his heart, and he hurried to climb down from the bed.

Wu Zhangkong gave him a look. "Time's tight. Don't bother washing up. Get dressed and come down — your soul spirit has evolved, so let's test how your soul skills have changed."

With that, he stood, gave Tang Wulin a light pat on the shoulder, and walked out.

Soul spirit evolution?

Tang Wulin froze. His soul spirit had always been his sore spot. Every time he sparred with his teammates, watching their brilliant yellow hundred-year soul spirits while he only had his dim ten-year white one — how could he not feel bitter? Of course he had a competitive heart!

He'd heard Xie Xie mention yesterday that the spirit ascension platform could potentially evolve soul spirits, but he hadn't really believed it. It sounded too legendary.

But Teacher Wu wouldn't lie to him!

With a flash of light, Tang Wulin summoned his Blue Silver Grass martial soul. A glowing ring of light rose at his feet.

The once-white color was gone — replaced by a softly gleaming yellow halo.

Yellow.

A hundred-year soul ring!

Little Gold wriggled out, perching lightly on Tang Wulin's shoulder. Tang Wulin raised his hand, letting the little snake climb up. Staring at its clearly transformed body, his eyes grew misty.

How many times had he felt utter despair because of this little creature?

Three years of grueling forging, scraping together every coin just to buy a defective soul spirit.

Back then, he'd almost given up.

It had taken unimaginable willpower to keep going.

And now, today, he had finally turned the corner.

Little Gold was no longer useless. It had evolved!

A hundred-year soul spirit meant that for his second soul skill, he wouldn't need to buy another soul ring. With Little Gold, he could evolve naturally — and save the money to purchase the spirit items he needed for breaking his second seal in the future.

Tang Wulin let out a long breath. His whole body felt as if a great weight had been lifted.

Gu You was in an exceptionally good mood today.

He got up early, cultivating energetically. By six in the morning, he had already dashed out of his dorm, muttering under his breath, "A hundred million! A hundred million!!"

At the Eastsea Academy cafeteria, Gu You thought to himself, why is it that sometimes I can eat ten tons of food, and other times just a few bites fill me up? He really couldn't figure it out.

After a hearty breakfast, he headed to the Zero Class classroom.

"Tell me your thoughts about yesterday's spirit ascension platform experience," Wu Zhangkong said coolly from the front of the room, looking over the six students seated inside.

Zhang Yangzi's eyes were ringed with dark circles — clearly he hadn't slept well last night. Wang Jinxi was in a similar state. The difference was, Zhang Yangzi was brooding, while Wang Jinxi had been trapped in nightmares — he couldn't forget the bone-deep cold when the Man-Faced Demon Spider's leg had pierced his body. In that moment, he'd truly felt his life slipping away. That terror was unforgettable.

Gu Yue's expression was relatively calm, showing no particular change.

Tang Wulin and Xie Xie, on the other hand, both looked energized and excited — especially Tang Wulin. After all, what could be more thrilling than a soul spirit evolution?

"Let's go in order of who withdrew first yesterday. Zhang Yangzi!"

Wu Zhangkong's voice cut through the room when no one volunteered to speak.

Gu You gave a small shiver. He was sitting behind Gu Yue, and even though the classroom only had six desks, the whole scene still gave him a strange sense of déjà vu…
