Chapter 74: Making Tang Wulin Go into Debt

"Gu You, do you know why your score was lower than theirs?" Wu Zhangkong looked at him sharply.

"I know," Gu You said, closing his eyes. Honestly, it brought back memories — it felt just like his old school days, that familiar atmosphere.

Wu Zhangkong didn't reply. A single warning was enough. Saying more wouldn't help — people had to remember things themselves. He believed Gu You was a smart kid; he'd pay attention next time.

Wu Zhangkong's voice softened. "Next, you all need to deepen your understanding and study of spirit beasts. Don't think that just because spirit beasts are rare now, this learning is useless. It's quite the opposite. Understanding spirit beast traits will greatly benefit your future cultivation. Research shows that over eighty percent of the soul skills human soul masters have were once spirit beast abilities. The more you understand their abilities, the more you understand your future rivals. At the same time, it will help you survive longer inside the spirit ascension platform — the place where top elites are forged."

"You should have realized already: the longer you last in the spirit ascension platform, the greater the rewards. So, the road ahead of you is still long…"

Hearing this, Tang Wulin felt a chill. He turned to look at Gu Yue, who only gave him a gentle smile and a nod.

Strange? What was that sensation just now?

Tang Wulin shook his head, brushing the thought aside.

After their spirit ascension platform adventure, the six students' dedication to their studies skyrocketed as if they'd been hit with a boost soul skill. They no longer needed Wu Zhangkong to push them — even Zhang Yangzi let go of his hostility toward Tang Wulin's trio.

As for Gu You, it was his first time seriously diving into the textbooks of this world. For the first time, he found studying enjoyable. Reading books like the Spirit Beast Compendium felt like reading a collection of legendary myths.

"Gu You! I heard you can eat a lot. How about I treat you to a meal? After all, we only absorbed the Crystal Bear's energy thanks to you." Tang Wulin ran up to Gu You, eyes practically sparkling.

"Slow down, Tang Wulin! Ow!" Xie Xie followed, panting, while Gu Yue trailed behind with her arms crossed, walking calmly.

It was Xie Xie who'd told Tang Wulin about Gu You's legendary appetite — and Tang Wulin was thrilled. For the first time, he wasn't the academy's undisputed king of eating!

"Oh? Sure, but I eat a lot, you know. You really don't mind?" Gu You grinned. He wasn't sure where they'd heard the rumors, but it was true — these days, he'd been eating a lot in the school cafeteria. Honestly, if he hadn't been deliberately holding himself back, he could have eaten even more. Lately, he'd even overheard people calling him "Food Bucket King." But strangely, Gu You didn't mind. This was the true school life he had imagined — full of youthful energy, full of life.

"Of course! I've saved up plenty from forging. It's enough to feed you," Tang Wulin said confidently. Xie Xie added, "Exactly! We'll make sure you're stuffed. If he runs out of money, I'll cover the rest!"

Gu Yue rolled her eyes. These boys… always talking about food.

The intermediate division cafeteria was in a small three-story building next to the main teaching building. Each floor served one or two of the six grade levels — first and second years were on the ground floor.

Inside, there were no chairs, only tables — this was Eastsea Academy's rule. Students ate standing up to increase their sense of urgency.

For Gu You, this was all too familiar.

There were three food lines, labeled A, B, and C. The C meals were completely free, the B meals were partially paid, and the A meals were fully paid.

Of course, the quality of the food reflected the price: A meals had the best ingredients, followed by B, while C meals were just basic food.

Naturally, Gu You chose the A meals — not only because they were expensive, but because they were the most nutritious.

And it was only ten thousand coins per meal!

Gu You stood at one of the tables and waved his hand grandly. "Bring it on!"

As soon as he spoke, Xie Xie and Tang Wulin staggered over, arms straining as they carried more than a dozen A-grade meal boxes. It wasn't that the boxes were heavy — they were just awkwardly big, making them hard to balance. Every step they took had to be careful to avoid spilling anything.

The scene immediately drew a crowd of curious intermediate division students.

"Whoa! I've never seen anything like this before."

"He ordered this many A meals? Can he really eat it all?"

"So rich! That's over a hundred thousand coins right there! Zero Class really has it good."

Many of the onlookers were envious. From the lowest-ranked class to the top, they'd all seen the freshman tournament. Everyone knew Zero Class got the best resources. Now it looked like they were even allowed to casually feast on A meals.

There were even rumors going around: The academy had given Zero Class special privileges. Their classroom was upgraded to a private, spacious room. Their dorms had been upgraded too — no more four-student rooms; now, each person had their own, equal to a regular teacher's dorm.

Some of the gossip was true, some was exaggerated — but the best way to know was always to see for yourself.

Gu Yue watched in silent disbelief. The A meals didn't just include boxed sets — there were also side dishes and soups. Naturally, the task of carrying those fell to her. What could she say? She could only resign herself to helping serve Gu You's food.

Gu You opened a box and launched into his "performance." He put on plastic gloves and immediately began a furious, two-handed eating frenzy.

The sheer intensity of it left the onlookers dumbfounded.

"My god! He's eaten ten sets in just ten minutes. At this rate, he'll clear sixty A meals in an hour!"

And judging by the situation, Gu You had no intention of stopping anytime soon. It was simply insane.

After thirty-five minutes, Tang Wulin fell silent.

Xie Xie ran away.

That was 350,000 coins — gone.

Just like that.

Ahahaha… Tang Wulin felt like he was about to lose his mind. He'd worked so hard every day, rising early and staying late, taking forging jobs at the Eastsea Blacksmith Association to save up some money. And now, today, it was all vanishing before his eyes. Worse, he was probably going into debt.

Gu You's stomach was round and bulging. Even with his Dragon God bloodline, he felt like he couldn't handle much more. The nutritional content of each meal wasn't huge, but the sheer quantity was filling. Still, just to make Tang Wulin experience the pain of debt, Gu You decided — he would keep going!

"Quick! Report to the director!"

The surrounding students were in a panic.

108 A meals — all gone.

This one person had eaten through an entire month's worth of A meals for the whole school!

Gu You's belly was now completely bloated, stretched tight into a round ball. He genuinely couldn't fit another bite.

Gu Yue stood nearby, covering her mouth to stifle a laugh. Tang Wulin lay sprawled on the ground, his face dark and shadowed.

Today… he had officially gone into debt.
