Chapter 12

He restocked shelves for me while I took care of things behind the counter. Tomorrow I've got another appointment for the gender reveal. He's also got an appointment for his leg and arm.

He's hoping to have all the casts off by the time the baby is born. "Have a great day!" I told Mrs. Falian. "You, too, dear." She said back.

I'm not as big as I'm going to get, but I'm going to be twice this size. Zach came back over and sat down behind me. I know he can't wait for all of the casts to be off.

He was independent now that he could get up without me yelling at him to sit back down. That made the entire situation worse than it was.

On Saturdays, he'll help me restock the store for what he can do and learned how to use the cash register. "So what names were you thinking of for the baby?" Zach asked.

"I haven't decided yet," I told him. "Take your time, Kitty. I'm not pressuring you into any decisions." He said as he stocked a shelf with rat killer.

After work, we went to church. He sat next to me in the pew. His brothers and family came over to us. My parents, Joseph and Maggie, sat in front of us. Zach had his arm around me on the back of the pew.

Colt sat next to me, and Buck on the other side of Zach. Colt had his daughter on his lap as she colored in a coloring book that was lying on his other leg.

Maybe having a daughter won't be so bad. Then the other twin was sitting next to him, coloring on a page opposite his sister.

Buck's son was sleeping as he was in his father's arms. Their wives were close to them as the service started.

After the service, Zach and I went back to my house for dinner. "Remember it's my night to cook!" He said as we got out of the truck. He took the keys from me and hurried inside.

I went out to the barn to see my horse. He greeted me quickly and sniffed my belly. Just two more months. After he was fed, I went back up to the house.

I walked in and the house smelled wonderful. Zach stood there with two plates in front of him. I smiled and took both plates to the table.

He sat down next to me and kissed my temple. The baby lightly kicked. I smiled and checked to see if Zach noticed anything. He didn't at all. It kicked again.

I giggled because it was almost tickling the inside of me. Zach looked over. "What?" He asked. "Set your fork down for a second," I said, still smiling. He did, and I put his hand over the baby.

It kicked once more. Zach had a smile on his face.

Zach's POV

I thought she was crazy when she put my hand on the baby. When I felt it kick, I never wanted to take my hand away. She let me leave my hand on it while she ate.

It kicked at least ten times before I pulled my hand away and put it around her. She laid her head against my shoulder as I finished.

Kat's POV

I got out of bed and got dressed. "Do we have to go?" Zach asked, lying in my bed. I gave him a pouty look and nodded.

"Do you want to know if it's a boy or a girl?" I asked. He rubbed his face with his non-cast hand. "And you could probably get that off," I told him.

He jumped out of bed, everything showing. He quickly pulled his underwear on, then a pair of jeans. "Ready." "Did you forget something?" I asked. He looked down and buttoned his jeans. "Better?" He asked.

"I think you need a shirt," I said. "Right." He said as he went and got a shirt on. I found one of his hoodies and put it on. He kissed me as he put his other one on. "You look beautiful in my clothes, Kitty."

"It's the only thing I fit in," I told him. I even had on one of his shirts. Yeah, I'm almost as big as I'm going to get.

We got into the truck and drove to the doctor's office. Once there, I checked in and sat down in a chair. A nurse called my name, and both of us got up and went in.

This was it, we were going to find out the gender of the baby. I was completely nervous. Zach put his arm around me. "It's ok. No matter what it is it's going to be loved." He said before kissing my temple.

We went into the ultrasound room. I sat on the bed. He looked just as nervous as I was. The doctor came in just as the heartbeat was being checked.

"Alright. Are you ready to see if we can determine the gender?" She asked me. I nodded. Zach looked pale. "3D or 2D?" The doctor asked.

Zach's POV

I'd like to see the baby in three dimension, but it's up to her. "Zach?" I looked up at her. "Which do you think?" She asked.

"Which ever you want to do." I told her. "That doesn't help." She told me. I swallowed hard.
