Chapter 17

We stuck Rylin in our room for the night. I woke up to her almost screaming. I jumped out of bed and over to her bed. I picked her up and cradled her in my arms.

I sat down in a chair near the bed and fed her, then switched sides to let her lie there. She finished as I held her against my breast. I rocked her before setting her back in her bed.

I got back in bed, and Zach put his arms around me. I snuggled into his side as he held me close. "I'll get up next time." He said before kissing my temple.

I dozed off just as she started crying again. Zach got up and took care of her. He came back to bed and pulled me to him. I will never leave him and our daughter.

June, summer has just begun. It was after work, and Rylin and I were sitting on the front porch under the shade. Last week, Zach and I got married. Rylin is three months old and growing.

Zach was out in the arena training Bailey's horse at the moment. The heat had gotten to him. He took his tee off and set it on the side.

I stared as he worked with the colt. He caught me looking at him, and I whistled. Rylin looked out, seeing her daddy with the horse.

Logan, Wyatt, and Bailey were nearby. Well, Logan was next to me as his three-year-old cousins played in a pile of dirt and mud.

Colt was on the road for ERA competing. Hedli was helping Maggie in the office, and Ali was out mending fences. So I was watching kids. Jericho was out in the cattle pasture guarding cattle.

Zach walked over to the edge, and I walked out to him. "You and I are going to do something once the niece and nephews are gone." He said. I kissed him. "No kissing while working," Buck said as he picked Logan up.

"Come on. You know I can get a horse trained in less than a day." Zach told him. "Then get it finished," Buck told him, walking to his truck. Zach kissed me once more before he went out with Bailey's horse again.

"I'll be done within an hour." He yelled. Hedli came up, and the twins went with her. Leaving me at the house by myself with Rylin.

Zach finished with Bailey's horse. "I'm going to test him out tomorrow and make sure he's good to go." He said as he came over.

We locked hands and walked to the barn. "I know I forgot to give you a wedding present, so, would you like one of the horses from the yearlings?" Zach asked.

"Are you sure about that?" I asked. "Well, it would be trained by yours truly." He said as he put the horse in its stall.

"Buck and Ali gave the twins their horses when they were foals. I had to wait a few months to be able to train and get them saddle-ready." He said as we walked out to the yearling paddock.

Rylin squealed when she saw the horses. They all looked up, then came over to us. "Did you know we can see them from our bedroom?" He asked before kissing my temple.

Not really, but I nodded. "Kitty, you were hesitant to answer." He said, putting his arm around me. I looked at all the yearlings as they returned to grazing.

We walked back to the house. I put Rylin in her rocker in the kitchen as I started supper. She fell asleep sooner than most would think.

Zach came into the kitchen freshly showered and shirtless. Rylin's never going to know what me and her dad do while she is sleeping. Especially when Zach shows off his body to me.

He stood behind me, nipping at my ear. Ooh, he's trying to burn the house down. His hands were on my hips as he continued to tease me. Rylin might have a brother or sister before the night is over.

"Zach." He stopped and kissed my jaw. "Yes?" He asked. "If we continue, Rylin won't know what it's like to be an only child," I told him. "Not a problem with me." He said.

Then he turned the stove off and turned me around in his arms. "Might as well finish what I started," I smirked and put my arms around his neck.

He lifted me, setting me on the counter. Then started kissing me. His hands were on either side of me. "You're so beautiful, Kitty." He said between kisses. I wrapped my legs around his waist, pulling myself closer to him.

He knew exactly what I was thinking. His bulge pressed against me. "How about we finish this after supper?" He asked. "Then you get to finish supper," I told him.

"It's a deal, Kitty."
