Like always, Jun came running over to Haruto's desk to chat. But this time his face looked pale as a sheet, visibly shaken and worked up about something. Jun told Haruto that last night he saw a fox spirit transform into human form right in his house!
"Oh really?" Haruto just stared blankly, not understanding anything, so he patted Jun's shoulder and said maybe he should watch less anime.
Jun got angry, saying he was telling the truth, but seeing that Haruto still didn't believe him, he had no choice but to dig up all his memories and tell the whole story. That evening he had gone about his usual routine - playing games, watching anime, then going to sleep. At this point Haruto interrupted, asking again if it wasn't because he'd been watching anime. Jun ignored him and continued with his story.
"When I went to sleep, I suddenly had this really weird dream. At first everything was hazy, like looking through fog, but then the scene became crystal clear. I found myself lying in my bed, but somehow the room looked different - bigger, with soft golden light coming from nowhere in particular. That's when she appeared.
This incredibly beautiful woman materialized at the foot of my bed, wearing this flowing white kimono that seemed to shimmer in the strange light. Her long black hair cascaded down her shoulders like silk, and her skin looked porcelain-smooth and practically glowing. This woman had the most perfect face I had ever seen - delicate features, full lips curved in a mysterious smile, and these mesmerizing dark eyes that seemed to see right through me.
She moved toward me with this graceful, almost floating motion, like she was dancing to music only she could hear. I tried to speak but found I couldn't make any sound. All I could do was watch as she sat down on the edge of my bed, the mattress barely dipping under her weight. Her presence filled the entire room with this intoxicating scent of jasmine mixed with something wild...
'Don't be afraid,' she whispered in the softest voice I'd ever heard, though her lips barely moved. Her hand reached out and touched his cheek, and her skin felt impossibly smooth and warm. my heart was pounding so hard I was sure she could hear it.
She began caressing my face with feather-light touches, tracing along his jawline and down his neck. Her other hand started slowly undoing the buttons of my pajama shirt... one by one... Made me fell like I was melting under her touch...
The whole time she was touching me, she kept whispering things in that same soft voice, but I couldn't quite make out all the words. Some of it sounded like a different language entirely - ancient and melodic. All I knew was that I never wanted this moment to end.
Just as she was reaching for the waistband of my pajama pants, giving me the look that made my whole body burn with anticipation, I suddenly heard this loud crash from somewhere outside the dream. I was so fucking excited thinking that I was finally about to become a man, and then I suddenly woke up... because of some noise outside the door. I rubbed my own eyes and saw a woman's silhouette outside on the porch, with the exact same beautiful face from my dream, except she had three tails behind her...
"Oh really?" Haruto shook his head, looking at his friend like he'd lost his mind. "You're telling me you saw an actual kitsune? Come on. That's straight out of some late-night anime episode."
But Jun wasn't backing down. His hands were shaking as he gripped the edge of Haruto's desk. "At that moment, I really wanted to open the window to let her in, because it was cold outside. But Haruto!! Who would stand silently like that outside someone else's window! Who would?!""
Haruto leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "Alright, so let's say I believe you for a second. What happened next? Did this 'fox woman' just vanish into thin air?"
"That's the thing!" Jun's voice cracked a little as he got more animated. "She didn't disappear. She smiled at me(so beautiful) - the smile that made my skin crawl and my heart burned - and then she just walked away, but not like a normal person walks. It was more like she was floating or gliding across the ground. And those tails... they swished back and forth like she was some kind of animal."
The classroom was starting to fill up with other students getting ready for first period, but Jun didn't seem to notice or care. He was completely absorbed in his story, his eyes wide and darting around as if he was reliving the whole experience.
"So what did you do? Did you go outside and chase after her?" Haruto asked, though his tone suggested he was just humoring his friend at this point.
Jun shook his head vigorously. "Are you crazy? I hid under my blankets like a little kid! I mean, what would you do if you saw something like that? I stayed there for like an hour, too scared to even peek out the window again. But then I started hearing these weird sounds from outside - like scratching and rustling around near our garbage cans."
"Probably just a stray cat or something," Haruto suggested, but Jun wasn't having it.
"No way, man..."
"You think you're some kind of chosen one now?" Haruto couldn't help but smirk a little.
"Mock me all you want, but I know what I saw. And the dream... it felt so real. Like she was actually there in my room with me. The way she touched me, the way she smelled - like jasmine flowers and something wild, like the forest after it rains. You can't just make up details like that."
Haruto studied his friend's face carefully. Jun was many things - dramatic, obsessed with anime, prone to exaggeration - but he wasn't usually an outright liar. There was something in his eyes that made Haruto pause and consider that maybe, just maybe, something weird really had happened.
"Alright," Haruto said slowly, then ignored his friend.
The first bell rang, signaling that classes were about to start. Students began settling into their seats, and their teacher walked into the room carrying a stack of papers.
"Look, we'll talk about this more at lunch," Haruto whispered as he turned toward the blackboard. "But promise me you won't do anything stupid tonight. If you really think there's some supernatural entity hanging around your house, maybe you should tell your parents or something."
Jun shook his head as he reluctantly returned to his own seat. "They'd never believe me. They'd probably think I'm having some kind of mental breakdown and send me to a psychiatrist."
"Ahh... That is what I want to tell you. Maybe you should watch less Anime."
As the teacher began writing on the board, Jun found it impossible to concentrate on the lesson. His mind kept drifting back to the previous night - the dream that felt too real to be just his imagination, the mysterious woman with her otherworldly beauty and those unmistakable fox tails, the way she had looked at him with those glowing golden eyes. Part of him was terrified by what he had experienced, but another part of him was strangely excited. For the first time in his ordinary, unremarkable life, something truly extraordinary had happened to him.
He spent the rest of the morning classes scribbling notes about what he remembered, trying to capture every detail before his memory started to fade. The way her hair had moved in the breeze, the pattern of shadows the moonlight cast on her face, the graceful way she had moved across his yard. By lunch time, he had filled three pages with observations and theories about what it all might mean.
When the lunch bell finally rang, Jun practically sprinted to meet Haruto at their usual spot in the courtyard.
