CHAPTER 6

Tired of all the activities, Kalina rested on the balcony. Sitting back on a rocking chair enjoying the afternoon breeze caressing her face, very multifunctional.

Her eyes closed tightly, so serene with the worldly pleasures that greeted her slowly. Taking a break from all the problems of life that had no connecting rope about the life of a Kanaya and also herself trapped in this body, confusing herself.

A few moments later, Kalina was surprised when a stinging cold greeted one of her cheeks. A pair of irises opened again to find her husband widening his smile while holding out a can of drink.

Kalina accepted it and muttered, "Thank you."

Zaki sat next to her, both looking at the expanse of synthetic grass filling the archery and horse riding arenas, pleasing to the eye.

"You are a woman who is persistent in the world of archery, but too afraid to ride a horse. I was very impressed when I saw you trying to do archery and horse riding at the same time, but... you never continued it, only focused on archery," said Zaki opening the conversation.

Kalina was amazed again about the life of a Kanaya. The storyline she had was so extraordinary, but unfortunately, she had to replace this position.

"Really? Do I... really like archery? Also, why can't I shoot while riding a horse at the same time?" Kalina asked curiously.

She didn't hear Zaki's answer, the man seemed to be digging into his memory to answer his wife's question.

"You, a very gentle woman. Don't like to get hurt at all, always kind to everyone, don't discriminate between servants or other people."

"The people who live in this house like you. They are amazed and happy to have a Young Lady as good as you, Honey."

Zaki turned his head, the crescent moon glowing on his handsome face. Kalina could feel her cheeks hot, perhaps fascinated by this man's charm.

"Is this house full of handsome people? Why in my previous life... have I never met a man like Zaki or Adrian?" Kalina's chatter played in her mind.

Kalina moved her lips, trying to pull both corners to reply to Zaki's words. However, the awkwardness still couldn't escape from her.

After all, this story was not entirely hers. How guilty Kalina was when she had to become Kanaya, where her life could be said to be perfect.

However, amid a sea of admiration, Kalina felt a little sadness, about how Kanaya's thin body and the wounds all over her body were created.

"Then, what happened to me before? When I was in the hospital I heard... I jumped from the second floor of this building?"

"What happened? Then, what about this scar?" Kalina asked, pushing aside the left sleeve of her clothes, revealing the gauze that was still wrapped there.

For a moment Zaki looked at his arm, fixated and focused on one point as if he was reluctant to answer. Kalina patiently waited for what reply he wanted to give.

Waiting, waiting, the man who was Kanaya's husband didn't speak up. Curiosity, confusion, anxiety, and hesitation all became one.

The turmoil in her head when she found Zaki's movements presented speculation that something had happened.

"Why are you silent? Do you know something?" Kalina asked again, when Zaki was silent, with no intention of answering her previous question.

Kalina frowned when she saw Zaki's expression suddenly change. Far different from when he explained the beginning of Kanaya's accident.

Sadness was visible there, but now disappointment radiated. Kalina wondered more and more, what was Zaki hiding right now.

Curiosity grew as Zaki turned his face away, astonishment piled up, and Kalina was increasingly convinced that there was something hidden related to this man.

"Zaki-"

"Can you stop? I don't want to discuss it anymore. Because I'm afraid of losing you."

Zaki held Kalina's hand tightly, surprising the owner. Suddenly the man kept changing.

"I just-"

"Honey, I beg you. I don't want to discuss it anymore, a month has passed since you were in a coma in the hospital. I was so afraid of losing you, and... now you're back home, I'm so grateful. So, please don't discuss it again, okay?" Zaki said passionately, holding his wife's hand tightly.

Kalina could only watch the movements of Kanaya's life partner. Somehow her gut feeling told her that Zaki was not sincere in doing this.

As if there was a lie in it.

"Honey, your husband is right. It's better if we don't discuss it anymore. Because that incident was very painful, Mom and Dad also don't want to remember when the accident happened to you," Arum continued, coming closer.

Kalina looked up to see Arum and Airuz joining the conversation. A sincere and genuine smile radiated, as parents, they were grateful to have their little daughter back together.

"Mommy is very grateful that you can wake up again, Honey. Even though you have lost your memory now, it doesn't diminish our love for you," continued Arum, softly.

"That's right, don't remember that painful incident anymore. Now we are very, very grateful that we are together again."

"You are lucky to have a husband who is loyal to accompany you," continued her father, Airuz also cupped her face.

Kalina was touched, by how sincere Kanaya's parents were. She could feel the great love from them until she unconsciously hugged Arum and Airuz tightly.

The middle-aged man returned the hug no less strongly, truly grateful to be together and not lose the only heir to the family.

Zaki just stared at the three of them in silence, his eyes radiating meaningful meaning. Who knows what he was thinking, the expression on his face showed the truth in his heart.

Night approached, and after enjoying the meal together Kalina returned to the room. Feelings of restlessness haunted her again and again when she remembered Arum's words.

Mrs. Kanaya said, "Go back to your room, Zaki must miss you." Kalina understood a fragment of the middle-aged woman's sentence.

The word "miss" meant that she had to serve her husband. However, this was not Kalina's real life, as a layperson who had never been married or close to any man, she was very nervous.

"What should I do? What do wives usually do when they are with their husbands in the room? What do-"

Kalina's words stopped when the bedroom door opened. This was the first time she had to sleep in the same bed as Zaki, yesterday she slept alone, maybe to get used to it there.

Kalina turned to the left side, and there Zaki was standing looking at her. The nervous feeling immediately made her body tense, and her husband's approach added to her anxiety.

"Go to sleep."

Zaki only said one word and then went to the bathroom inside. Kalina was stunned, not believing it, maybe the man was giving her a chance to prepare herself? She thought.

Without thinking about much else, Kalina lay down and tried to close her eyes. Until the sound of the bathroom door opening. Zaki came out and then lay down next to her. Kalina, who had been facing away from him, opened her eyes when she felt a different aura.

"I don't know why, what he said this afternoon doesn't match the current situation. Kanaya, what have you been through all this time? Also, who is this Zaki?" Kalina's mind was getting more and more confused.
