Chapter 4: Li Wenhao's POV

I was a little nervous, unsure whether to get down from the car. He looked a bit different from when we were last together. He was all smiles, but I could still remember the cold gaze he used to give me after that incident…

I took a deep breath, opened the door, and stepped out.

What shocked me was the recognition in his eyes the moment he saw me. He waved.

"Why is my face hot?" I murmured.

I knew this feeling all too well. It always came whenever I saw him.

I still couldn't understand how a man like that—like a small child in some ways—held this kind of power over my heart.

I responded with a small nod and pointed to a restaurant nearby. I wanted to have dinner with him.

He nodded back.

But just as I was about to turn away, my gaze darkened.

Someone stepped out from the other side of the car.

It was that child.

I thought I had told Xu Shiyan not to have any interaction with him. So what exactly happened?

I didn't know what they were talking about, but I sighed with relief when the third wheel quietly got back into the car.

I walked into the restaurant with a nonchalant expression, and I was led to my usual cube. "The guy behind me is with me," I said, pointing at Xu Shiyan.

"Okay, sir," the doorman bowed in response.

My cubicle was a private area—just for me—to enjoy some peace without prying eyes. On my way in, I could still feel the stares and hear the gasps.

"He is so handsome."

"He's like a walking manga."

I was so used to compliments that nothing surprised me anymore. But his compliment… that was the one I had never received.

I sat at the table. It didn't take more than two minutes before he entered. I pointed to the seat opposite mine.

"Sit," I said.

"Okay," he replied, then sat down across from me.

"About the divorce—"

I raised my hand to stop him. I didn't want to hear about that yet.

"Even when you lost your memory, you're still eager to divorce me."

I could see the speechlessness in his eyes, but I had already made up my mind—I was going to have dinner with him.

"Waiter," I called out.

The waiter ran over quickly upon hearing his name. "The menu," I requested, and he handed it over.

"Do you want anything?"

"No, don't worry," he shook his head.

"Now that we're about to divorce, you don't even want to eat with me?" I played the pity card, looking a little sad.

"No, no, no—you can order for me," he conceded.

I picked my food—and the ones I knew he liked.

"If that's all, may I go?" the waiter asked for confirmation.

I waved my hand in response.

After the waiter left, it became awkward. I didn't have anything to say, and he didn't either.

Xu Shiyan cleared his throat. "Mr. Lu, can you tell me about our life when we were married? Were we in love… and all the rest?" he asked a little awkwardly.

I wasn't willing to talk about our problematic marriage, but—"You didn't call me Mr. Lu before," I said, trying to change the topic.

"What do I usually call you?" he asked, sounding a bit curious.

"Li Wenhao?" he guessed.

I didn't say anything in response, because that was exactly what he used to call me.

Hearing no reply from me, he added, "Babe?"

I blushed hearing the cliché title. "You can just call me Li Wenhao."

"Okay, Li Wenhao," he nodded.

A few minutes later, the waiter returned and served our food.

We began to eat.

"Now that we're done, let's talk about the divorce," Xu Shiyan said. "Why do I want to divorce you?" he asked.

"I don't know. You came to my office one day and dropped the papers on my desk, saying you wanted a divorce. I tried calling you and stopping you, but you never replied. Then I heard you were poisoned."

I was really angry. I still hadn't found out who had the guts to drug him. If I hadn't called a famous doctor known for treating poisons, Xu Shiyan would have been dead by now.

"So, I didn't tell you why I wanted the divorce?" he asked.

"No," I said with a hint of complaint.

"I believe I had a reason. So… let's just sign it."

After he said that, the gaze he gave me shifted. I could have sworn I saw the same cold look he used to give me when he hated me. It felt… too familiar.

"I'll be right back," I said and walked out of the private room toward the toilet.

I didn't want to use this method—but Xu Shiyan had given me no choice.

I took my phone out of my pocket and called my driver.

"Sir, are you ready to leave?" he asked from the other end.

"Bring him," I ordered.

"Sir, who? Wait… are you serious, sir?" he asked.

"Yes. Do what I say." I hung up the call and went back into the room.

He was still seated in that same nonchalant way.

"Sorry I kept you waiting."

It was surprising that I, someone who hardly apologized, had already told this child 'sorry' so many times.

I sat down in the chair. "You want the divorce papers?" I asked as I brought out a folder from my briefcase.

He nodded.

I dropped the paper on the table and pushed it in front of him, along with a pen.

Ding!

I unlocked it,

"We are here, sir."

A message popped up on my phone.

He was about to sign when I smirked.

"Wait."

He stopped and looked up in surprise.

"If you really want to sign the papers, I want you to meet someone first."

Right after I said that, the door was pushed open.
