Storms of Destiny Chapter 7: The Shattered Reflection
The Aurion cut through the misty waters like a silent blade, its crew tense with anticipation. After passing the first trial and uncovering the map, Pol ST Daniel now guided them toward a new destination, a place marked by a symbol etched in silver—a mirror, cracked through its center.
Pol stood at the helm, eyes on the horizon. "The second trial is near," he said, tightening his grip on the railing. "And it looks like it's going to test more than just our strength."
Kaiden nodded beside him. "Three trials for one Writh. Let's just hope this one's kinder than the last."

Arrival at the Mirror Cavern
Their destination loomed like a jagged crown over the ocean: an island of mirrored cliffs, gleaming even beneath the gray skies. As the Aurion docked, the water shimmered beneath them, unnaturally reflective.
Sorin muttered, "This place gives me the creeps."
They scaled a winding path, reaching a cavern whose walls shimmered like water. Within, a vast chamber awaited, glowing with dim silver light. In its center, a fractured crystal mirror floated, surrounded by jagged shards and ancient runes.
Mirae stepped forward. "This must be the second trial."
A deep, omnipresent voice echoed through the chamber: "To proceed, you must confront your truths. Only those who accept what they see may pass."
---
The Trial Begins
The mirror's shards twisted into a vortex, and one by one, the crew was drawn into it.
Pol found himself on a battlefield, surrounded by the lifeless bodies of his crew. The air was heavy with failure, the voice of the mirror whispering: "You'll fail them all. Just like before."
Kaiden saw his power spiral out of control, flames engulfing those he swore to protect. Mirae stood powerless in a world of silence. Sorin relived betrayal, alone and bitter.
The reflections clawed at their hearts, but slowly, one by one, they stood.
Pol clenched his fists. "I won't run from this. I'll learn. I'll lead."
With that, his vision shattered. The others followed suit, embracing their truths, and the trial released them from its grip.
---
The Dark Doppelgängers
No sooner had they regrouped than the mirror reassembled itself, casting out dark versions of the crew—twisted, malicious doppelgängers.
Kaiden drew his sword. "Looks like round two."
The shadows mimicked their every move, feeding off their insecurities. Pol faced his own, a mirror of doubt and pressure.
"I know I'm not perfect," he said, lowering his blade. "But I won't let fear define me."
The shadow faltered, then vanished. One by one, the rest followed, the crew breaking their doppelgängers with resolve rather than might.
---
The Path to the Final Trial
With the final shadow gone, the mirror pulsed with light, casting a map onto the cavern wall. It revealed the next trial's location—deeper into the Isles of Avaris.
Mirae traced the map. "If this was the second, the third will be even worse."
Pol nodded. "Then we prepare. We finish what we started."
---
A Hidden Threat
High on the cliffs, cloaked in shadow, a figure raised a crystal to his lips.
"They've passed the second trial. Inform Lord Zephyr. The Writh will soon be ours."
The Aurion sailed once more, its crew unaware of the danger tightening around them like a storm cloud, ready to break.
