Faced with the terrorists, Tony showed no mercy. He stepped forward and punched one of the gunmen straight into the air.
Then he unleashed his repulsors on the remaining fighters — one blast reduced a man to nothing but pieces.
With J.A.R.V.I.S.'s assistance, the remaining Ten Rings militants were swiftly exterminated. Even when they tried to use hostages as shields, it didn't faze Tony in the slightest.
After clearing the town square, Tony arrived at the site where Yinsen had been executed.
Yinsen's body was hanging from a gallows, covered in wounds, clear signs of brutal torture before death.
Seeing this, Tony's eyes turned red. He hadn't expected their reunion to be separated by death. Back then, he should have forced Yinsen to leave for New York.
But regret came too late now. Tony flew up to the top of the gallows, holding Yinsen's lifeless body with one arm while cutting the rope around his neck with the other.
Yet before he could fully free the corpse—
Boom!
A tank in the distance fired a shell, blasting Tony out of the air.
In the explosion, Yinsen's body was torn to pieces, blood and flesh raining down, staining Tony's Mark 3 suit with streaks of crimson.
Crawling up from the ground, Tony found a piece of Yinsen's flesh still clinging to his arm. Rage finally consumed him as he let out a furious roar:"Ahhh!"
Damn you, Ten Rings! You killed my friend and even destroyed his body!
Another shell came screaming toward him — this time, Tony spun aside and dodged it.
Boom!
The shell detonated behind him, and Tony raised his right arm, launching a mini-missile that streaked straight into the tank.
Boom!
The tank exploded in a towering column of fire, its crew incinerated instantly.
Tony scanned the entire town, hunting down every remaining Ten Rings fighter and destroying all Stark Industries weapons in their possession.
Only when everything was reduced to ash did he finally leave Gulmira.
Later, Zarah arrived in a truck loaded with weapons and ammo. Though he didn't see Tony's devastating rampage, he did catch a glimpse of Tony flying away into the sky.
Elsewhere…
At the top of the Triskelion, inside Alexander Pierce's office, Sitwell walked in with a file.
He handed it to Pierce."Secretary, this is all the intel we've gathered on Smith Doyle. Director Fury has invested significant resources into him and tasked Coulson with establishing contact."
"From what we've learned, Doyle possesses superhuman power and leads an ancient organization. Among all superpowered individuals S.H.I.E.L.D. has encountered, he ranks as the most destructive."
"Still, it seems the Assassin Brotherhood operates with a sense of justice, targeting only notorious criminals and underground syndicates."
"Known targets eliminated include the Kingpin in Hell's Kitchen, the Continental Hotel, the High Table, and the Hand."
"But there's one thing: he's a racist. Hated among African-Americans, nicknamed the 'N****r Killer' and 'Hunter of Blacks' in the underworld."
Pierce's interest deepened as he read. A superhuman more powerful than any they'd seen? That was a first.
"Can we recruit him?"
Sitwell hesitated."That depends on the guise we use."
"With the Brotherhood's ethos, Hydra has little chance — even if we paid a hefty price."
What Sitwell didn't say was that if Doyle discovered they were Hydra, he'd probably declare war and dig Hydra up by the roots. That was a clash of ideals.
"But under a S.H.I.E.L.D. banner, there's a decent chance. Fury already has Coulson working on it. While Doyle commands significant power, a consultant title would still appeal to him."
Pierce chuckled."Hah! No wonder Fury sent Coulson. I'd love to see his face when he read Doyle's file. Wonder if Doyle would just put a bullet in him."
Then his smile faded."Well, if we can't bring him in ourselves, so be it. As long as he's inside S.H.I.E.L.D., it's as good as being one of ours. Just one more layer of red tape."
"I remember studying the Brotherhood when I became director. A tough, stubborn stone — but to think they lucked into a superhuman."
Sitwell added:"Also, some intel was sold to the Brotherhood's network in exchange for wax bath slots. That wax bath's only flaw is portability — but the healing it provides is superior to anything we've seen. It's already been verified by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents."
"And selling certain criminal intel to the Brotherhood earns us gold coins, which can be used to buy more treatments."
Pierce grinned."So they can still be of use to us after all. As long as they're useful, who cares how we use them? No need to make him join outright — just like S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't all our people… even our dear Director."
Both men laughed at the thought."Ha ha ha!""Ha ha ha!"
