"Tekka, go inform the witnesses outside—especially Danzō's son. Tell them we will surely uphold justice and never let any criminal go unpunished. Then, let them head back."
Uchiha Fugaku called over his trusted subordinate, Uchiha Tekka, and instructed him to quickly send off Takeshi and the others.
"Understood."
Although Uchiha Tekka didn't quite know what Fugaku was planning, his loyalty compelled him to carry out the order without hesitation.
"Then let's go!"
Takeshi, who had never liked the atmosphere of the Konoha Police Force, became visibly impatient once he heard he could leave. He grabbed Kakashi and Obito, ready to dash out.
Wait a second—Obito?
Wasn't climbing the mountain originally meant to deal with Obito in some way?
Forget it. No point thinking about it now—just go with the flow.
Too lazy to dwell on it, Takeshi hummed a tune as he strolled out of the police station.
...
"Minato, it's been a long time."
Entering a break room and pushing the door open, Fugaku immediately spotted that unmistakable flash of bright yellow.
Usually stern in demeanor, Fugaku couldn't help but show a genuine smile upon seeing Minato.
"Fugaku-sama, sorry to bother you."
Minato stood up right away when he saw Fugaku, offering an apologetic smile.
"I've just been too busy lately, so I..."
"Heh, I know, I know. Come, sit."
Fugaku pulled Minato down into a chair, briefly tidied the table, and despite Minato's polite refusal, poured him a cup of water and set it before him.
The two exchanged a few casual words. Once the time felt right, Minato finally revealed his true intention—to bail out Jiraiya.
Fugaku, fully aware that the Third Hokage was behind this as well, did not object and readily agreed.
Seeing his goal achieved, the weight finally lifted from Minato's heart, and he relaxed as the two chatted a bit more about family matters.
"Speaking of which, you're not getting any younger. Mikoto often says you and Kushina should hurry up and get married. What do you think about that?" Fugaku asked, shifting the topic to Minato's love life.
"Uh..."
The usually cheerful and outgoing Minato became flustered at the mention of Kushina.
Seeing him blush, Fugaku didn't press further. He chuckled softly and added in a warm tone,
"Of course, I'm not trying to rush you. Just let me know when the time comes, that's all."
"Definitely, Fugaku-sama," Minato promised with a smile.
Using Jiraiya's own money to pay for bail, the toad sage was quietly released by the Konoha Police once night fell and everyone was either eating dinner or heading home.
"Thanks for the trouble, Minato."
Jiraiya was a bit embarrassed to find that Minato was the one who came to rescue him.
"Sigh... Sensei, really. If Lady Tsunade ever finds out about this..."
Minato sighed and was about to caution his teacher, but Jiraiya cut him off in a hurry.
"Say no more, Minato! That's exactly what I'm afraid of!"
Frantically waving his hands to silence Minato, Jiraiya looked around nervously to make sure no one was watching. Only then did he relax.
"Let's just forget the whole thing ever happened. It's not exactly something to be proud of."
"But Sensei, how did you get caught by a bunch of kids?"
Minato was genuinely curious. Given Jiraiya's strength, even with an ANBU among the witnesses, he should've been able to escape easily.
"Don't bring it up. The younger generation in Konoha is getting scarier by the day. They're still kids, but they already know all sorts of jutsu—and one of them even has a Kekkei Genkai..."
Scratching his head, Jiraiya made a half-hearted excuse for his carelessness.
"By the way, Minato, do you know where those kids are from?"
Suddenly reminded that his student lived in the village full time, Jiraiya figured Minato might know who they were and asked curiously.
Having already gotten the witness identities from Fugaku, Minato nodded. He trusted his teacher wouldn't try anything petty like retaliating, so he told him openly:
"One of them is Might Guy, another is Hatake Kakashi, son of Sakumo-sama. Then there's Uchiha Obito. And finally, Danzō-sama's son—Shimura Takeshi."
Danzō's son?
Hearing that one of the witnesses was Danzō's kid made Jiraiya sit up straight.
Which one could it be?
Actually, it wasn't hard to figure out.
Obito had the Uchiha clan crest on his clothes—clearly the hot-headed one.
The white-haired boy was obviously Hatake Kakashi.
So that left the question—who was Danzō's son?
Easy. It had to be that odd-looking brat in the green jumpsuit who kicked him!
Look—Danzō has black hair, and that kid had black hair too. It had to be him!
Yeah, right.
"Hmph, I knew something was off about that brat. No wonder—being Danzō's son, it makes sense he'd be skilled in Wind Release. But Ice Release...?"
There's no way Danzō knows Ice Release. Even if a child was an unparalleled prodigy, there's no way they could learn a Kekkei Genkai through training alone. That meant the kid must've inherited Ice Release from his mother's side.
According to legend, members of the Yuki clan were known for their refined appearance—and that brat definitely fit the bill.
"Unbelievable! What did that bastard Danzō do to land a beauty from the Yuki clan?! He must've used some despicable trick. He must have!"
Furious over Danzō's apparent romantic luck, Jiraiya knew he wasn't sleeping tonight.
Even while mentally ranting about Danzō, Jiraiya didn't forget the real issue. He informed Minato that Hiruzen had ordered a new team to be formed—with Jiraiya as the leader, Minato as a member, and two others to be selected. They were to meet at the training ground the next morning.
Hearing that he'd be teamed up with his teacher again made Minato truly happy. After all, ever since Jiraiya set out to find the Child of Prophecy, he'd been away from the village, and Minato had rarely seen him.
Not to mention, Jiraiya wasn't just Minato's teacher—he was the man who had pulled him off the battlefield and brought him back to Konoha.
"This is wonderful, Sensei," Minato said sincerely.
"Anyway, go get ready."
Feeling a bit embarrassed by Minato's grateful look, Jiraiya scratched his nose awkwardly.
Under normal circumstances, it wouldn't have been a big deal. But today's reunion had definitely been... unconventional.
Watching Minato walk off into the night, Jiraiya stretched and looked up at the sky.
"Hmm... What should I do next? Guess I'll go get something to eat..."
His stomach growling from not eating all day, Jiraiya rubbed his belly and was just about to find a little shop to grab a bite when he spotted a group of women giggling as they headed toward the bathhouse.
"Uh... I mean, eating isn't that important..."
Throwing today's troubles to the wind, Jiraiya flashed a perverted grin and sneakily made his way around the back of the bathhouse.
