Chapter Four: Destruction of the Pack

There was a back and forth between myself and the Alpha. He was persistent. I will give him that.

He was determined to make me see his way. That I was his LUNA. But I was not, nor would I be his mate when I barely accepted being the Whore of the Pact.

"Little fox, those three markings on your frame state other wise. The fact that you have not pushed me away yet says differently." I closed my eyes trying to ignore the soothing treble that was the Alpha's voice. "You are my mate and this tribe's LUNA. You are powerful, strong and unmatched by all."

"Except you oh fearless leader," I said smug like. He laughed as he pressed his back against the headboard of his bed.

"You are my equal, beba (bebe). In title alone you are my equal, but in power you are a rival." He run his hand against my head brushing a warm glow to my forehead.

The gentle warm soothed me to a point that I did not realize that my body pressed it self with his. When I opened my eyes my head was in his lap and the Alpha was stroking my head and scalp.

"I promise you as your mate and Alpha; neither I nor any one of this tribe will use that slur towards you or any other Wicca again. I will not harm you in any way shape or form," He said as he continued to stroke my head.

Even though I could see the lovingness in his affection I could not get him calling me a whore just twenty-four hours ago out of my head.

I lifted myself up and rolled over on my back. The back of my head rest in his lap so I could get a better look at him. Even though his voice sound truthful; he could still be lying. But I did not smell it.

"That is until you get bore with me a pass me around to the weres and wolves of the tribe." Apparently I spoke out of turn because I could hear his chest rumble and his voice growl with every word he spoke.

"I refuse to have any male in this tribe touch what is mine. You are mine and mine alone."

"Your possession," I stated. I wanted to leave. I did not need to be this weres chew toy.

"You are my mate. That means you are mine and only mine," Nikoli turned his head slightly and took deep breathes as he looked down at me. "I do not share you with anyone. I am not to touch another female in that way and no man shall have you."

I could not help it. I laughed. "And what happened dear Nikki if I decided to keep to the traditions and not take a mate. I live out the rest of my days in the temple away from you and the tribe." I glared up at him. I called his bluff, that decision not even the Alpha could go against.

"Then my love you would have killed us both along with the tribe."

"What?" I stopped dead in my tracks.

"It doesn't surprise me that the temple does not teach your about the mating and matching. You were raise to be a "shrine maiden."

He paused taking a deep breath.

"The moon as you and your divine like to pray to just like the rest of us, believe in the matching of mates. So if for some reason a mate denies the other they slowly kill one another. Unless the Alpha breaks the bond and the moon agrees. However if the LUNA and ALPHA refuse one another or if one just out right refuses; then the entire tribe will die out."

"Lies," I cried.

"You do not smell a lie do you little fox? Its true, I cannot tell you how many times the elders took me to an old villa to discover that the weres died out because of the death of the mate of the Alpha or just one of them out right refusing one's love."

Death to the tribe.

Just like that. I sat up and looked at the Alpha. Still no one drop of a lie. We were going to die if we refused one another ….

The heart grows heavy with every beat.

I had to leave. I needed to clear my head. I needed to get away from Nikoli because while everything he said made sense, I could not let him dictate my decisions.
