"General, I... I apologize," Yanqing stammered, bowing his head before the visibly furious Jing Yuan.
Jing Yuan's anger, however, had little to do with Lumina. Even if the victim of the attack at the Central Starskiff Haven had been an ordinary citizen of Luofu, Jing Yuan would have reacted the same way. This was a failure of the Cloud Knights' duty.
Moreover, arresting the victim immediately after the attack, without even investigating its cause, and attempting to send them to the Shackling Prison—what kind of place was that? Only prison guards and inmates could set foot there as non-officials.
Without sufficient evidence, how could they justify sending the victim to such a place? To be inexplicably attacked and then arbitrarily imprisoned—anyone in that situation would cry injustice, wouldn't they?
Moreover, the person they had captured was Lumina. Given her status, if news of this got out, Luofu's reputation would plummet.
Wait... had he ever mentioned her existence to Yanqing?
Hmm... it seemed he hadn't.
Though Jing Yuan hadn't specifically mentioned Lumina, he had cautioned Yanqing to temper his recklessness and act with greater prudence.
"Looks like I'll have to be more explicit in the future," Jing Yuan thought with a resigned sigh.
If his memory served him correctly, he had given Yanqing that advice last night, only to have Lumina brought to the Seat of Divine Foresight this morning.
The situation on Luofu had grown increasingly complex lately. Hidden factions within the city and external forces alike were now baring their fangs.
While they could still manage, they were unable to take the initiative. As time passed, their position would only become more passive—a dangerous situation for Luofu.
"This chessboard is still missing a wild card..."
Without dwelling on it further, Jing Yuan looked at Yanqing, who stood before him with his head bowed in apology. "Yanqing, go apologize to Miss Lumina."
"Yes, General."
Though Yanqing still harbored some resentment toward Lumina, he would never disobey General Jing Yuan's orders.
Approaching Lumina with genuine sincerity, he lowered his head and said, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have arrested you without any evidence."
"It's alright. I was partly to blame too," Lumina replied, shaking her head gently. She watched the contrite young man before her and quietly murmured, "You're forgiven."
Lumina could tell that Yanqing's apology was solely due to Jing Yuan's command. Deep down, he likely still harbored some displeasure toward her.
But that suited Lumina perfectly. Precisely because you resent me, I now have the perfect excuse to beat you up!
By then, whether Yanqing's heart still simmered with resentment would be irrelevant. What Lumina knew for certain was that his body would be in excruciating pain...
"The man who attacked me had a very strange appearance."
After Yanqing apologized, Jing Yuan dismissed him. Lumina watched Jing Yuan as he brewed tea, then spoke.
"Hmm? How strange was he?" Jing Yuan asked, pouring tea into Lumina's cup with a puzzled expression.
Lumina took her time to respond. She lifted the teacup, took a slow sip, and calmly said, "I sensed the aura of another Emanator of Abundance emanating from him. And... what you Xianzhou people call a Mara-Struck body..."
Hearing this, Jing Yuan's hand froze mid-pour. He clearly recognized the person Lumina was describing.
He quickly regained his composure, set down the teapot, and said, "Based on your description, Miss Lumina, the attacker must have been Blade, a member of the Stellaron Hunters."
"But why would he attack you?"
When Jing Yuan mentioned Blade's name, he showed no surprise at the Stellaron Hunters' presence on the Xianzhou. His concern stemmed from why Blade would target Lumina specifically.
It made sense. Apart from those who deliberately concealed their status as Emanators, everyone on the Luofu, regardless of their strength, was bound to be detected by its surveillance systems.
Kafka and Blade had likely been under Jing Yuan's observation since their arrival on the Luofu. The reason no action had been taken might be that they were playing a larger game.
Lumina neither understood nor cared to understand the schemes of clever people. Hearing Jing Yuan's question, she shook her head.
"I don't know. Perhaps they mistook me for the Emanator of Abundance who granted Blade his power."
After pondering why Blade had targeted her, Lumina could only think of this explanation. Whether she was part of Ellio's script remained a complete mystery to her. That revelation would have to wait for future events.
"Is that so?" Jing Yuan nodded in agreement, accepting her theory. He refilled Lumina's teacup and said, "Although the perpetrator has been apprehended, today's sudden incident reveals..."
"Miss Lumina, might you require a guard to ensure your safety?" Jing Yuan inquired. He knew that with her strength, Lumina had nothing to fear from any enemy on the Luofu. However, proper formalities still had to be observed.
"A guard? Rather than a guard, I'd prefer a Diviner," Lumina replied, shaking her head. "My luck has been truly abysmal. I'd barely arrived on the Luofu when a Stellaron erupted. The very next morning, I was attacked by the Stellaron Hunters. Give me a Diviner who can cast a divination every morning to determine whether it's safe for me to venture out." Lumina sighed, clearly frustrated by these unexpected events.
"I understand," Jing Yuan nodded, agreeing to her request. "I'll immediately contact the Master Diviner of the Divination Commission to see if there's a Diviner with ample free time and exceptional divination skills."
A smile blossomed on Lumina's face. "Then Miss Lumina extends her deepest gratitude to General Jing Yuan and the Master Diviner."
