Chapter 3: I won't destroy your relationship
"Don't worry, I won't ruin your relationship."
"Oh, empty words mean nothing." Kiana sneered. "You're a pretty boy with bad intentions. You must have some kind of plan for my Mei!"
Kiana had used her brilliant instincts to uncover all the conspiracies.
The guy in front of her had to be either an enemy of Raiden Mei's father or some villain scheming to steal the Raiden family's assets by targeting Mei.
Date her and make her shy; take her first kiss and rob her of her inheritance—
These were the dirty tricks of people who circled the upper class. He was just another greedy parasite.
Her Raiden Mei would be protected by her!
Subin's expression stayed calm—he had expected this development.
It was a pity his abilities weren't strong enough yet. Hypnosis took a lot of effort to use, otherwise, Kiana wouldn't be acting so bold in front of him.
He replied, "You're overthinking. I just want to survive and help save more people."
If he truly had ill intent, Mei would've already been lying on the bed flashing a peace sign with heart-eyes.
But when he thought about the disaster about to strike Nagazora City, his small-headed survival instincts were already trembling.
He could clearly distinguish between the joy of the moment and the peace of long-term safety. There was no need to hesitate between the fleeting and the lasting.
There wasn't much time left before disaster arrived.
He was just a regular person without any real strength, and he had no plans of dying so easily.
"Save more people?" Kiana frowned.
Her instincts told her there was a hidden meaning behind that sentence.
But for now, removing this danger from around Raiden Mei took priority.
She couldn't bear to see her Mei get hurt again.
"Tomorrow. You're leaving tomorrow. I don't care where you go, but I don't want to see you again."
"Otherwise…" A fierce glint flashed in her bright blue eyes.
The girl picked up an apple and, with a light twist of her slender fingers, split it clean in two.
When she got mad, she could kill a cow!
Crushing a minotaur would be no challenge at all!
To be fair, that strange strength of hers was quite intimidating.
Even though he was sure this white-haired ball of fluff wouldn't land him in the emergency ward of Nagazora's hospital, the primal fear he felt when facing such a beast wasn't something you could fake.
This food-guarding silver wolf wasn't someone to be underestimated.
In that case...
"Mei, you're the host and I'm the guest—let me help you."
Subin stood up, naturally picked up an apron and tied it around his waist, then walked into the kitchen.
"This… isn't right…" Raiden Mei's voice came from inside.
As a well-bred young lady, she of course understood that guests should be served. As the host, she shouldn't let him cook for himself.
"It's fine. Just treat it like me not being used to your Far Eastern cuisine and wanting to make my own."
Kiana: "…"
The situation changed way too fast—it was like a tornado swept through.
Just a second ago, she was demanding this guy stay away from Mei and not disturb their little world of two.
Now, in the blink of an eye, this unprincipled man had already set his sights on Mei—
This was a roundabout attack, targeting the head of the house first!
The girl's gut screamed that this guy was using Mei as his path to win a long-term stay—and complete his wicked plans toward Raiden Mei.
Maybe...
He had already shown his true evil face to Mei behind her back and was doing whatever he pleased to her!
How could that be allowed!?
Kiana clenched her fists and made a decision.
She was the one protecting this little home she shared with Mei!
Starting today—she was the house's personal security guard!
The girl made the decision in a hurry. She came up with a plan on the spot and rushed to the kitchen in two or three steps to teach Subin a lesson.
However...
There was harmony in the kitchen.
"So, this is how beef should be cooked to make it taste good?" Raiden Mei nodded obediently like an apprentice.
"Not necessarily. Different parts have different methods."
"The brisket is suitable for braising, while the lean meat is good for stir-frying. The bones are best used for soup stock, though they're not usually eaten directly. They're better as a flavor base for other dishes."
The young lady, who had never been involved in household chores, was quickly picking up someone else's life skills.
The cooking techniques from across the ocean had opened her eyes—and now, she was already halfway down the path of culinary obsession.
The two people standing by the stove were dressed properly, and aside from the faint scent of oil and smoke, there was nothing out of place.
'Could it be… that I was overthinking?'
Kiana scratched her head, still unable to let it go.
Her gut told her that this guy, Subin, definitely had bad intentions toward Mei, and the plan was probably still in progress.
It was just that she had no idea what exactly this guy had done, so she couldn't expose his plot.
But… it smells so good!
Her stomach was starting to grumble.
The aroma rising from the pan was easily the best scent she'd smelled in ages.
This guy's cooking was even better than if Mei and she combined their skills and added another zero on top.
'How about… letting this guy stay for two more days?'
The moment the thought entered her head, Kiana squashed it without mercy.
No matter how good the food was, it wasn't as important as Mei's safety.
For the sake of her Mei, she had to keep all dangers out—and protect the cozy world of two that belonged to her and Mei.
Kiana steeled her resolve and returned to the dining room to wait in silence.
Just one night—that was all she needed to endure.
The girl firmly believed this unpleasant experience would pass soon.
Not long after, a table full of delicious dishes was served, and the two skilled chefs took off their aprons and sat down.
Kiana, who had been holding back forever, finally picked up a piece of beef, gave it a bite, and was instantly satisfied.
"Mei, your cooking is so delicious."
"Kiana, is today's dinner really that good?"
"Of course, Mei's food is the best." Kiana ate with delight, completely unaware of any strange changes in Mei's demeanor.
"Do you want to eat food like this again in the future?"
"Of course! I love everything Mei makes."
The eldest daughter nodded, then turned around and smiled softly at Subin. "Then, thank you very much. Over the next few days, please teach me a few cooking techniques."
Kiana: "???"
'What just happened? Why didn't I notice a thing?'
The silver-haired girl was stunned.
But the hostess, Raiden Mei, had already made the arrangements.
"Kiana, please move in with me. Subin will sleep in your room."
"… …"
