Edwards returned three days later to sign the papers.

On the day of our severance ritual, Rebecca was in attendance.

She was wearing the Firestone Pendant Edwards had bought for her.

“Planning to complete your mate bond right after severing ours, Edwards?”

Rebecca draped herself over his arm. “Of course. Once he is free of you, he is marking me immediately.”

I laughed at Edwards. “We were mated five years with no pups. I passed every fertility test, but you always refused to be checked. Now Rebecca is suddenly with child? Impressive.”

Rebecca shrieked. “What are you implying? This pup is absolutely Edwards’!”

“If you say so. Why are you so defensive?”

The Pack Council members officiating the ritual exchanged knowing glances.

They had all been my clients. They knew Rebecca’s history of faking pregnancies to trap males.
