Chapter 24: Misaki's Silence Breaks the Night
The rooftop was quiet again.
Night two of the Confession Club.
But this time… it wasn't light-hearted. It wasn't playful.
Because Misaki had claimed the night.
And Misaki didn't play.
---
She Waited First
Yuu arrived to find her already there—back against the railing, arms folded, wind blowing her dark hair softly.
"Misaki," he greeted.
She turned, face unreadable. "Yuu."
Silence stretched. Not awkward. Not cold.
Just her silence. Deep. Heavy.
Until she finally spoke.
"You never asked why I always sit alone."
Yuu blinked. "I figured you liked it."
"I didn't."
She looked out at the stars.
"I was scared."
---
The Truth She Never Said
"I grew up invisible," she began, voice low. "People liked how quiet I was because it made their lives easier. I never caused trouble. I never cried. I never got in the way."
She clenched her fists.
"But I was drowning."
Yuu listened, heart sinking.
"I watched you every day, Yuu. Talking. Laughing. Living. I wanted to say something. Anything. But my throat would close, like if I opened up—I'd fall apart."
She turned now, eyes shining.
"You were my anchor in silence."
---
The Moment She Chose Herself
"I joined this class to forget that pain," she said. "But then the harem formed. And I thought I'd just watch again. Stay on the sidelines."
Her hand reached for his chest.
"But I can't. Not anymore."
She leaned in.
Not bold. Not afraid.
Her lips touched his softly. Quietly.
A kiss like a whisper.
But it echoed.
"I love you, Yuu," she said. "Even if you don't say it back. I needed you to hear me. For once."
---
Aftermath
She turned and walked away, hoodie swaying in the wind.
Yuu stood still.
Staring at the stars.
Another heart had opened.
And the silence between them…
Was no longer empty.
