A massive, throne-like hall. Towering statues watched from the shadows. Pillars reached into the black ceiling. At the center, on a raised platform, sat a figure cloaked in darkness.
Ming knelt on the red carpet, hands crossed to his chest, forehead nearly touching the floor.
"All hail the Leader."
Their Leader looked at Ming. His face was still unclear. He asked,
"So, your name is Ming?"
The moment Ming saw the Leader, his condition worsened. Every part of his body was telling him — This man is terrifying. Choose every word carefully or you might be finished. His body began to sweat. For the first time, he was this afraid just by looking at someone.
The Leader asked again,
"What happened? Is your name Ming?"
This time, his voice was much heavier.
"I don't like repeating myself."
Hearing this, Ming's fear grew even more. He quickly replied,
"Ye—yes. My name is Ming."
His sweating grew more intense. His heartbeat began pounding faster. He could hear it clearly — Dhuk buk, dhuk buk.
After hearing his answer, the Leader stayed quiet for a moment. Then suddenly, his tone changed completely, shifting to a cheerful tone. In a teasing voice, he said,
"Why are you so afraid of me? Did I say anything to you?"
Hearing that, Ming immediately lowered his head and said,
"N-no, I'm not afraid."
But the Leader let out a laugh and said,
"But I can hear your heartbeat from here."
Hearing this, Ming was extremely shocked. Before he could ask anything, the Leader spoke again,
"Do you know why I called you?"
He replied,
"No… no. I don't know anything. Why did you summon me?"
His throat was dry from fear.
In a funny tone, the Leader said,
"I told you not to be afraid of me. I won't kill you. Anyway, I called you because there is a mission for you."
Hearing this, Ming was a little surprised.
A mission? For me? And directly from the Leader?
But there was no time to think. Ming quickly replied,
"Yes! Yes! I accept the mission!"
The Leader said,
"Don't get too excited. Listen to the entire mission first."
Ming calmed down a bit.
Then the Leader began again,
"This is an A-grade mission."
As soon as the Leader said that, Ming's head shot up. His eyes went wide, his face completely shocked.
What? An A-grade mission? And for me? Impossible. The Leader must be joking with me.
But then he thought —
Why would the Leader joke with me? That must mean he's serious.
Even then, it was very hard for him to believe. Because an A-grade mission is no random mission. It is one of the most dangerous missions in the Nabasaka Organization.
Then, we learn more about the Voidwalkers Organization.
Voidwalkers Organization. One of the most dangerous organizations on Earth. And it is not a good organization — it is extremely evil. They do everything on their Leader's orders. And what is more dangerous is that this organization's members can use some kind of superpower.
Then, we learn about the power system of this organization — or rather, this world.
There are mainly two kinds of power in this world. One is Soul — they use spiritual power. The other, for the physical, is mainly Aura.
The people who awaken soul power are called Divinity, and those who awaken physical power are called Manity. Each person has a class according to their power. And after awakening, a mark appears on the person's body who gained that power.
Each awakener is classified based on their power type and specialization. There are five primary classes for each category.
Soul Classes:
Alchemist – High intelligence; specializes in crafting medicine and alchemical potions.
Mage – Capable of casting spells and forming a magical circle inside their heart.
Tamer – Can tame specific types of animals depending on compatibility.
Healer – Uses divine energy to restore life force and mend wounds.
Controller – Possesses refined, precise control over spiritual energy.
Physical Classes:
Weapon Master – Masters of blades, spears, and other weaponry. At higher levels, they can channel aura through their weapons.
Martial Artist – Focuses on body-based techniques and disciplined movement.
Shifter / Transformer – Transforms into an animal form that reflects their power and personality.
Tank – Boasts immense durability; its body can withstand powerful attacks.
Core Master – A rare class that stores and controls aura within an inner core, allowing explosive power bursts.
Ming reflected quietly:
"There are some hidden classes as well… but I've never seen anyone with one. That's only what the Leader told us."
As far as we knew, people outside the organization might—or might not—have powers. But to the public, powers were nothing more than fantasy. Ordinary citizens had no idea supernatural abilities even existed.
What made the Voidwalkers truly terrifying was the Leader's mysterious ability—something only whispered about. Somehow, he could grant superpowers to others at will.
There was also a strict power ranking system that defined how strong someone was:
Level 1 – Apprentice: The awakening stage. Users can barely sense aura or soul energy.
Level 2 – Master: A stable user. They can apply their class abilities in real combat.
Level 3 – King: Superhuman level. Can lead teams and overwhelm Masters with ease.
Level 4 – Saint: Nearly mythical. Possesses refined energy and dominant presence.
Level 5 – Divine: A legendary tier. Their power can reshape the world or destiny itself.
Each level is broken down into three sub-stages: Initial, Mid, and Peak.
Our Voidwalkers Organization is vast. There are many people in the organization, all divided by title and rank:
Fighter — Newcomers with no awakened power yet, but strong physical or mental abilities.
Warrior — Those who have just activated their power.
Great Warrior — Those who have successfully gained control over their power.
Master — Individuals who have mastered their power and unlocked their first skill.
Elite Master — Users who can fully utilize their skill and have reached the peak of it.
Grandmaster — Those who unlock their second skill. Anyone who reaches this stage is given a special reward directly by the Leader.
Commander — This is where everything starts to change. Reaching this level is extremely difficult. One must unlock five skills and master one of the organization's special techniques.
The Elders — These figures oversee and rule the various branches of the organization. They are on another level entirely.
The Guardians — The peak of our organization. You see the thrones beside me? Those are reserved for them. Their power is absolute.
Clan Leader — The man standing before me. I don't even know how strong he truly is. But as the title suggests, he is the strongest being in our entire organization.
As I said before, our organization operates solely on the Leader's commands — and our Leader loves money. We receive missions from clients who are willing to pay the right price.
The organization also uses a mission grade system to measure the difficulty of each job:
D Grade — Requires one or more Great Warriors.
C Grade — Needs at least one Master.
B Grade — Needs two Grandmasters working together.
A Grade — Usually requires one Commander and additional lower-ranked members.
S Grade — These missions involve the Guardians themselves. They're pure hell for the rest of us.
Scene shifts to present.
Ming is still frozen, his body stiff with fear. He stares at the Leader with wide, disbelieving eyes. Because he knows…
An A-grade mission is not meant for someone like him.
He's only at the Grandmaster level. Even most Commanders require a full team to handle an A-grade mission.
He thought:
No… I can't complete this. This mission isn't for me. Should I refuse it?
His throat is dry. He swallows hard. His fists clench. He tries to gather courage—
No. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance. I can't let it slip away. I have to take it…
Then, just as he opens his mouth to speak, the Leader's voice cuts through—
