Chapter 119: The Stubborn Rhyhorn
Three days later.
An excited Surge and his Pichu dragged a Pidgey that had been electrocuted black towards Giovanni's location. In three days, he had successfully bonded with his Pichu and could basically command it freely.
He and his Pichu, however, didn't dare to get close, only waiting for Giovanni to finish his work before stepping forward.
Rumble!
On this small island, there were broken trees everywhere, which had conveniently provided some materials for shipbuilding. In a chaotic open area, a frantic Rhyhorn was constantly charging and jumping, just trying to throw Giovanni off its back.
But Giovanni was still like a persistent plaster, impossible to shake off. This time, however, Beedrill was following him closely from above, afraid that something might happen to its master.
Thump!
The exhausted Rhyhorn finally collapsed to the ground. It was incredibly stubborn; it had been knocked down by exhaustion countless times, but it just wouldn't admit defeat. It would attack Giovanni whenever it got a chance, completely untamed and reckless.
Giovanni, covered in sweat, jumped off it again, shook his swollen arms, and wiped the sweat from his body. He annoyedly placed his foot on the Rhyhorn's head, pressing down hard, his voice cold. "My patience is limited, and I won't waste much more time on you. If you don't obey me, I will kill you without hesitation."
If it weren't for this Rhyhorn's excellent talent, which Giovanni really liked, he would have killed it long ago.
The Rhyhorn suddenly shook its head, almost making Giovanni stumble, still showing disdain and untamed defiance.
Bang!
Giovanni snorted coldly, stomped his foot hard, and waved his hand at his Beedrill. "Make it remember."
Beedrill nodded, slowly flew down, and continuously swung its twin stingers, quickly beating Rhyhorn until it was covered in wounds and blood. It wailed repeatedly, rolling on the ground.
Giovanni was completely indifferent. Upon seeing the returning Surge, he nodded in satisfaction. "Well done."
Surge's face beamed, feeling extremely honored by his praise. Meanwhile, the Pichu at his feet, upon hearing the Rhyhorn's screams and seeing the Beedrill tormenting it, trembled all over in fright. It looked at Giovanni as if he were a great demon lord.
It's a good thing I was caught by Surge; otherwise, if I had to endure what that Rhyhorn is experiencing... I would be finished! Thinking of this, Pichu looked at Surge again. The more it looked, the more pleasing he seemed. It even ran to his side and rubbed against his leg.

At this moment, Archer and Mars rode back on two other Rhyhorn, their bodies covered in dried bloodstains. Recently, many bodies had been buried on this island; many survivors and members of the Sea Overlords had come, and Giovanni had killed all of them.
As soon as they dismounted, their two Rhyhorn, seeing the one being severely injured by Beedrill, immediately rushed over, their eyes filled with anger— but they were recalled by Archer and Mars halfway through their run. They dared not incur Giovanni's displeasure.
"Boss, the wooden boat is ready," Archer said, specifically praising Surge. "It's a good thing we had this kid; otherwise, our simple raft wouldn't have been enough."
"Actually," Surge said, scratching his head, a little embarrassed, "it's mainly because you two, Brother Archer and Brother Mars, caught enough Water-type Pokémon. Otherwise, our safety wouldn't be guaranteed."
"Alright, no more modesty," Giovanni said, recalling the unconscious Rhyhorn. "You all did very well. Since the boat is ready, let's go. Time waits for no one."
"Yes, Boss," Archer and the other two quickly nodded.
Giovanni nodded to his Beedrill, and it immediately flew out. After a while, it returned, followed by Persian, Nidorino, Machoke, and two sluggish Kingler. With their talent, learning the Protect move in these three days had been quite easy.
"Come back, everyone," Giovanni said, recalling them one by one. "We're leaving."
He then followed the others to the small wooden boat they had prepared. Though not particularly large, it at least resembled a sailboat and wouldn't fall apart at sea.
"Let's go," Giovanni couldn't help but tease. "We're heading to Vermilion City, Captain Surge."
"Set sail!" Surge nodded shyly. However, as he looked in the direction they had come from, there was always a hint of sadness in his eyes.
"At least you survived, didn't you?" Giovanni said, gently patting his shoulder. "This is what they all wanted to see. And you also have a chance to avenge them."
Surge clenched his fists and declared confidently, "One day, I will eliminate all pirates!"
"Let's go," Giovanni instructed him. "The final stage has begun. You can't be idle on the route from here to Vermilion City."
"Yes, I guarantee I'll complete the mission!" Surge replied immediately.
