The drive from the hospital to work was a really long one.

I had to go see him, I owed him that. Who am I deceiving? I just needed to feel his piercing gaze on me again. Somehow, I just couldn't get him off my mind. He looked like a wounded lamb that needed saving, but that's what they all look like until they are chocking you and drowning you in your blood.

As soon as I left the hospital, sitting ideally in my car I started my research.

The Rossman have two children, Arnold and Harley. Harley was the older of the two. Arnold inherited the family business when he was twenty-five and had set out to expand the business further earning them more global recognition, Harley worked in the company as its CFO, she was in charge of all the company's finances.

It was no surprise that people were after his life, that's what comes with wealth, but this time I felt it was more than that.

From reading about him on google, I didn't know when I found myself scrolling aimlessly through his pictures, I found myself fixed on one where he was wearing a black suit that fitted him so perfectly, there was just something about guys in black that screamed, sexy. And this particular guy that decided to invade my dream the whole of last night was no exception, he was a freaking 100 out of 10. He looked like he slept in the gym and I couldn't stop myself from imagining what his body looked like under those expensive layers of clothing. His healthy mass of dark curly hair was in his signature crew cut; with the top longer, and those eyes, those icy blue eyes a perfect contrast to his light skin, those eyes I couldn't stop seeing anytime I close my eyes. Those eyes that arrested me and rendered me senseless for a few seconds.

Someone blared their horn loudly followed by a shout of "Get off the road, bitch", that was all it took to remind me I was still on the road on my way to work and not in fantasy land where a certain blue-eyed god was doing things to my senses.

I picked up my phone to dial Luke as I turned up in the parking lot of the ten story Law Firm, McBride's office was on the last floor, 202 to be precise.

As I was about to dial his number, he called. I connected the call to my buds immediately.

"Hey are you there yet?" His deep voice filtered into my ears.

"Yeah, I just pulled up outside his office"

"Okay. From my source, he has a hearing in court today in the next thirty minutes. You can break into his office then"

Who knew all those years of Donovan teaching me how to pick a lock was finally going to pay off?

"Thank you, Luke. This better not bite me in the ass"

He let out a slight chuckle

"Be careful"

There was a brief pause before a thought came to my mind

"Are you really going on a date with Ashely?"

I had my eyes glued to the tall building in front of me, a woman and a man stepped out of the double doors, she was dabbing her tears streaked face with a white handkerchief, while the man beside her kept on walking furiously ahead.

"Yeah...You don't want me to go?"

"Nah, it's none of my business. Just have fun"

I heard his low hum on the other end of the line.

"I have to go Jada, just be careful" and then the line went dead.

Was that sadness I heard in his voice or was it my imagination?

I brushed it off and focused on the task at hand.

Donning my Louis V dark sunglasses that Ash gave me on my last birthday, I came down from my car and made my way into the building. I sat down at the reception and got busy flipping through a vogue magazine. I was there for just five minutes when McBride walked past me towards the parking lot.

I waited for five more minutes after his car drove off then I discretely walked up to the elevator and pressed the number for the last floor.

1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. 5.. 6.. 7.. 8.. 9..10, the elevator pinged and slid open. I walked out and made my way straight to 202, it was very easy to locate the first office was numbered 200.

There was no one in sight so I got to work picking the lock. Thirty second later, I heard a click. I bent the handle and let myself into the spacious room. A large padded table was facing the door and a couch was on the left side of the room and a shelf with lots of heavy looking books was on the wall behind the table. The blinds were drawn given the office a semi-dark feel. I walked toward the table and started pulling out drawers checking for incriminating documents.

I immediately called Luke. He answered on the first ring.

"What exactly am I meant to be looking for?"

"I don't know. Just something that ties him down to the Senator's daughter"

I was still flipping through documents when my eyes caught what looked like a hidden compartment underneath the table.

"I think I've found something" I said and ended the call before he could reply.

It looked like a box with a key and it was locked. I pulled out my tools again and went to work on the lock. It took me longer this time around before the lock gave way and I was met with a single document sitting prettily inside the enclosed space.

I opened the document and took just a single glance at the first page.

"Bingo" I muttered.

I brought out my phone and began to take pictures.

"So, he had been stealing from her father?" Luke ran a hand through his sand blonde hair as he took a sip of his coffee, I'm guessing his third one of the day

The pictures I sent him earlier were opened on his desktop. Several bank statements and documents of fake investments bearing the senator's signature.

"I'm guessing she found out and he is threatening her into silence" the smell of the coffee was slowly wafting into my nose making me crave a cup of my own.

"This is enough to put him behind bars" He stretched out his cup of coffee towards my direction.

"What is this?"

"You've literally been licking your lips since you got here. Just have mine"

I stared at him with narrowed eyes, then I collected the coffee from his outstretched ones and took a long sip. I immediately felt the caffeine go straight to my brain, I let out a sigh; I really needed that.

"Thank you" I whispered.

He hummed his response and went back to browsing through the documents.

"I think I'll call the senator and tell him of the recent developments, then I'll call the police to bring Dante McBride in for questioning"

I said walking back to my desk.

Before I could make the call, my phone started buzzing loudly in my hand, Ashley's face filling the entire screen. It was a picture she took when we went to the beach last summer.

I slid my hand on the screen and brought the phone to my ear.

"So, I literally have nothing to wear for this date with Luke. I was wandering if you'll be back early so we can go shopping. You have eyes for good things and I need them"

She rapped with no preamble at all.

I quickly glanced at Luke who had his head bent over a large manila file.

"you know I'm not in support of you using the poor boy"

I heard her sigh audibly

"I'm not using him. He's a fine man I have a huge crush on"

I didn't have the willpower to dive into this conversation so I decided to let it slide. They are both adults.

"So, by what time do you need me? I don't have much to do today"

"Will four be okay?" she asked in that sweet voice of hers she uses to bend people to her will. Thank God I was impervious to her wiles.

I glanced at the time on my desktop, it was 1:43 pm. I had just enough time to round up my business with the senator, finally close the case and move on to another client or maybe take a break for now.

"Yeah four is fine. I'll meet you there"

"Yayyy, I'll text you the address. Love ya" then the line went dead.

With a small smile on my face, I immediately dialed the Senator.
