“Well, you're one of our special guests. Of course I'll let you go… eventually,” he answered with a smirk, and my face sank at his last word. At this point, I wasn't feeling too well, and it felt like my insides were burning.
“I promise you I didn't steal anything! Why would I?” I said, hoping he'd take my word for it. I looked around, and there was still no Dominique or Michael, which added to my helplessness.
“Look, I know I'm not well off, but trust me when I say I would never steal anything,” I said, my eyes conveying my sincerity. I was calm on the outside, but I was in great turmoil, which was only intensifying. It was like I was in a pool of flames, not deadly but uncomfortable. It was burning, yet it didn't burn me.
“ I know—”
“Water, please water!” I said Interrupting Ryan as fear enveloped me. I looked around and saw that nobody had moved, just looking in confusion, and some in contempt.
