Act II: Sunshine Between Us
The afternoon sun filtered softly through the classroom window, casting warm light over the scattered notebooks and half-finished sketches.
Yuki sat beside Mina, the two friends sharing a rare moment of quiet between classes.
Mina's gaze lingered on Yuki, her smile a little too sharp, a little too worried.
"Yuki," she said carefully, "can I be honest?"
Yuki looked up, surprised by the sudden seriousness.
"Of course."
Mina hesitated, then sighed.
"I know you like Ren."
Yuki's cheeks flushed, but she said nothing.
Mina pressed on.
"But… you have to be careful."
"Why?"
Mina looked out the window, tracing a raindrop slowly sliding down the glass.
"People like him—they shine bright, but sometimes they fade away. Like the rain—here one moment, gone the next."
Yuki's heart thudded.
"You're just saying that because you care," she said softly.
"I do," Mina said firmly. "But I also know what it's like to lose someone you're not ready to lose."
Yuki looked away, the weight of unspoken memories settling between them.
"Ren's been hiding something, hasn't he?"
Mina's eyes searched Yuki's face.
"He smiled through his pain, but I saw it—the moments he looked far away, like he was somewhere else entirely."
Yuki nodded slowly.
"I'm scared, Mina."
"Of what?"
"Of losing him."
Mina reached out and squeezed Yuki's hand.
"Then don't wait for the storm to hit. Hold on while the sun is shining."
Yuki squeezed back.
"I'll try."
Outside, the sky darkened slightly, but the warmth between them remained—a fragile promise against the coming rain.
