A Twist of Fate

Continuing the 5th Day

"What do you mean you know where our hiders are?" Ragna said, confused.

"Well, Alya came to us first, made a team with us, and she has betrayed you," said Micheal.

"Wait, please don't go to her! I need to climb the Tower to find out what happened to my family," Cinister pleaded.

Michael picks up Cinister by the shirt and says, "Listen here—the Tower is not a pleasant place. You'll learn to survive, or you'll die."

He throws Cinister to the ground and begins heading in the direction where Alya is.

As Michael was walking, he suddenly shouted, "Alya, where are you?"

"Right here," a voice called out from behind a tree.

As Michael turned around, he saw Ragna standing there.

"Ragna what are you doing here" Micheal said in a disstressed tone

"Well you didn't actually believe that Alya was telling the truth right" Ragna exclaimed

"Of course she wouldn't" Micheal said

"Well, I'm not supposed to say, but this is Cinister's plan," Ragna said proudly.

"Wait—you mean that loser who was crying?" Micheal asked.

"Yeah. Since Alya's a girl, that gave us a good advantage in tracking down bad men. So when Cinister asked her to try teaming up with a group, of course you would say yes. Pervert," Ragna said.

"Well, what now? You've fooled me—now what? It's not like you know where my hider is," Micheal said.

"What day is it, Micheal?"

"The fifth day. Why?"

"Do you really think your hider wouldn't text your teammate for food?"

Micheal quickly checked his phone and Ragna was indeed correct. The hider was begging for food. When Micheal notices he started running

"Where do you think you're going?" Ragna said, blocking his way.

"Hey! You can't hit me—you know it's against the rules," Micheal said.

"Well, it doesn't matter," Ragna replied, "because he's already at your hider's spot."

At the base Brayden gives George some food but Cinister is behind them.

After Cinister and Ragna returned to the camp, the others were shocked not to see Red Team.

"So... did they lose?" Yuki asked.

"Yeah," Cinister said. "We found their base and their hider. So it's only us three teams left."

Day 6 and 7

Not much happened during the day, but at night, Noah and James quietly packed up while we were sleeping and started heading toward Oliver.

The path was eerie and unsettling, but they eventually made it.

When they arrived, a loud scream echoed through the darkness—and then Jarvis's voice came over the microphone:

"[Yellow Team] has been eliminated."

Everyone jolted awake at the sound, looking around in shock and confusion.

"Well, this was fun, but [Green Team], it's time to surrender," Cinister said.

"Wait—why?" Shizuka asked, her concern evident.

Suddenly, [Red Team] appeared behind them, leaving [Green Team] in shock.

"Because I have them on my team" said Cinister.

Cinister stepped forward and held up [Red Team]'s Give Up button.

"Wait—how did you get that?" Yuki exclaimed.

We cut back to the 5th day, when Cinister found the [Red Team]'s base.

"Hello," Cinister said.

"Wait! Please don't say 'Found you.' We don't want to lose," George pleaded.

"Well, alright… but I want one thing from you," Cinister replied.

"What is it?" George asked.

"Your Give Up button," Cinister said.

"Since two teams will be able to pass, I want to make a truce—but I can't trust you unless you give me the button," he added.

We cut back to the game.

The [Yellow Team] gives up.

Then, Cinister presses the Give Up button—eliminating the [Red Team].

Suddenly, Jarvis appears out of nowhere, and a large digital board lights up above the arena, displaying the final results:

Final Rankings

1st Place – [Blue Team]2nd Place – [Red Team]3rd (Eliminated) – [Green Team]4th (Eliminated) – [Yellow Team]

Jarvis walked up with Alya and George, bringing our group to six.

"This will be your team of six," Jarvis announced. "Get ready—your final test will be a team battle. So take some time to discuss strategy and get to know each other."

He paused, then added, "I'll explain the rules later. For now, you'll each receive a map of the arena. Use it to plan. If your team wins, you'll earn permission to climb the Tower."

After that, he handed us a key that led to an apartment. We quickly made our way there and were surprised to find the place was massive.

Once inside, we all gathered in the center of the room and began explaining our classes and Nexus abilities.

"I'll start," he said. "Name's Micheal. I'm a Commander-class, so I'll be leading calls in battle. My Nexus is Cryo Shard—I specialize in freezing terrain and slowing enemy movement."

Alya leaned back, arms crossed, calm but confident.

"I'm Alya. I'm an Assassin, fast and silent. My Nexus is Swiftgale."

George nodded and stood with a slight grunt.

"George. I'm the Tank—heavy armor. My Nexus is Aqualith—I can harden water into armor or weapons. I'll take the damage so you don't have to."

Brayden adjusted the blade strapped to his back and gave a small nod.

"Brayden. Knight. Defensive duelist. I use Dustbreaker, an earth-based Nexus. I control terrain, create walls, and knock enemies off balance."

Cinister nodded and then spoke up, "I'm a Mage and sub-support. My Nexus is Ignivar."

Ragna cracked his knuckles, stepping forward with a confident grin.

"My name's Ragna. I'm a Knight, tough and relentless. My Nexus combines Aqualith and Voltbronud."

"Wait, you guys are Edricth!" Micheal exclaimed.

"Yeah, we are, but don't make a big deal out of it," Cinister replied.

"Okay, but we should start mapping out a strategy," Micheal said, quickly changing the subject.

"Well, I'm the only one here."

Micheal looked around the empty room, puzzled. "Wait, where is everyone?"

"Well, they went to the cafeteria. Let's follow them," Cinister said, sprinting toward the cafeteria.

As we made our way to the cafeteria, everyone was busy stuffing their faces with food. Maybe this was a good thing—because the next test wasn't going to be an easy hurdle.
