Inside Jacques Bistro Restaurant.
Brentley stood there, dumbfounded, as a poised and stunning woman emerged from the crowd. His heart was overwhelmed with a mix of shock and admiration.
She wore a long dress, high heels, and light makeup. Her figure was like that of a goddess, her face angelic, and her aura distant and unapproachable.
Brentley felt as if this elegant and cold beauty was a character straight out of a TV show, too unreal to exist in real life.
He couldn't fathom how such a stunning beautiful woman could exist in the real world.
The poised beauty had been waiting in a private room for over ten minutes. Growing concerned that Erica hadn't returned, she decided to come out and check if something had happened.
But as soon as she stepped out, she saw Erica arguing fiercely with Brentley.
"Erica, what's going on here?" the poised beauty asked, turning to glance at Brentley with a frown.
"Cousin, this jerk bullied me!" Erica quickly ran to the poised beauty's side, her voice pitiful.
"How did he bully you?" the poised beauty asked, puzzled.
"He splashed water on my face!" Erica exclaimed.
"Erica, calm down!" the elegant woman called out.
The poised beauty couldn't help but glance at Brentley again, then softly said, "Erica, I think this might have been an accident. Let's not make a big deal out of it."
Brentley felt a warmth in his heart upon hearing the elegant woman's words. She seemed far more reasonable than Erica.
"Cousin, you don't understand the situation. He did it on purpose!" Erica shouted in response.
"How do you know it was on purpose?" The elegant woman knew her cousin's temperament well and a charming smile appeared on her lips, stunning everyone present, including Brentley.
Erica hesitated for a moment, then tiptoed and whispered something into her cousin's ear.
After hearing Erica's words, a strange look flashed in the elegant woman's eyes, but she didn't say anything more.
"Manager Morgan, you said this person is also a guest at your restaurant and you can't do anything about him. But what if he isn't a guest here? Do you have the authority to kick him out then?" Erica pointed directly at Brentley as she spoke.
"He's not a guest at our restaurant?" Manager Morgan was surprised by Erica's words, his face showing clear confusion. After all, if someone came to their Restaurant, it was usually to dine. What else could they be here for?
"Miss Harris, what do you mean by that?"
Manager Morgan asked, frowning.
"I know this guy. He's just a poor loser who picks up bottles at Sunshire City University. He can't even afford his tuition fees, so how could he possibly have the money to dine at Jacques Bistro Restaurant?" Erica declared.
Erica shouted excitedly, her face flushed with emotion.
Manager Morgan couldn't help but glance over at Brentley, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes.
"Yeah, look at the clothes that kid is wearing. They're totally cheap knock-offs. How could he afford to eat at a place like this?"
"I bet he has some other motive for coming to the Restaurant."
"Even if he doesn't have another motive, we can't just let anyone in here and ruin everyone's dining experience!"
The people around started whispering amongst themselves after seeing Brentley's attire. Erica's face grew even more smug upon hearing their murmurs. She stepped forward and said in a sweet yet sharp voice, "Manager Morgan, I suspect this person is here to steal from the Restaurant. You should kick him out immediately!"
Upon hearing this, the crowd's faces changed drastically, and they began checking their belongings to see if anything was missing.
Manager Morgan's expression also turned tense. If Brentley was indeed a thief, as Erica claimed, it would be a serious oversight on his part, and he would have to bear the responsibility if his superiors found out.
"How do you know I'm not here to eat? And what gives you the right to accuse me of being a thief?"
Brentley stepped forward, his face emotionless, and asked Erica.
"Do you really have the money to eat at a place like this?" Erica couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.
"Whether I have the money to eat here is my business. But what evidence do you have that I can't dine here? What proof do you have that I'm a thief?" Brentley's tone was unusually calm as he questioned Wynter.
Upon hearing Brentley's calm tone, Erica's eyes flickered with a hint of panic. She knew deep down that her previous statements were merely speculative. Now that Brentley was demanding evidence, she had nothing to show.
"Erica, maybe we should just drop this," the poised beauty suggested softly, not wanting to escalate the situation further.
"No way! This guy definitely can't afford to eat here!" Erica retorted, her voice filled with determination.
Seeing her revenge plan about to succeed, she was reluctant to give up at this critical moment.
"Miss Harris, if you can provide evidence that this person isn't here to dine at our restaurant, I'll have him thrown out immediately," Manager Morgan said softly, stepping forward.
Erica froze at Manager Morgan's words, her face showing clear frustration, as she had no evidence to present.
"If you need evidence, then I'll testify!" a male voice suddenly rang out from the crowd.
Brentley turned his head to see Colby and Ophelia stepping forward from the gathering onlookers. "Who are you?" Manager Morgan asked, frowning at Colby.
"Who I am doesn't matter, but I know who he is!" Colby replied, turning to look at Brentley.
"And who is he?"
"This guy's name is Brentley Carter. He's a student at Sunshire City University and my classmate. I know him well. He survives by collecting bottles around campus. There's no way he could afford to eat at a place like this," Colby declared arrogantly.
Everyone froze in place after hearing Colby's words.
If it had been just Erica who said that Brentley couldn't afford to come to a place like this, people might have had their doubts. But now that both of them had said it, everyone started to believe that Erica's earlier statement might actually be credible.
