Actually, earlier today during dinner, Kirk had already confessed his feelings to Phoebe. After all, Kirk had spent so much time and money just to win her over.
Phoebe, on the other hand, felt it was too soon to agree to be with Kirk since they had just met today. She thought it would be too forward and that she didn't know him well enough yet, so she suggested they get to know each other first.
However, after what happened tonight, Phoebe was deeply moved by Kirk's actions, and she began to waver in her resolve.
"Phoebe, can't you just give me a chance? I know we haven't known each other for long, and you might feel like you don't know me well enough, but I really like you. I swear I'll treat you well!" he pleaded, noticing Phoebe's hesitation.
"I... can I think about it?" Phoebe replied shyly, looking at Kirk.
"Phoebe, what is there to think about? Don't you know how I feel about you?" Kirk asked, a bit agitated.
"I know you treat me well, but I still need to think it over. We've only known each other for such a short time. Can you give me some time?" Phoebe said nervously.
"Alright, Phoebe, take your time," Kirk responded, trying to hide his excitement. He knew that Phoebe's words indicated she was likely to agree, but she was just being reserved. So, Kirk decided not to push her further. Besides, he had more pressing matters—he had only half an hour left to return the clothes he had borrowed.
"Okay..." Phoebe nodded gently at Kirk.
Taking advantage of Phoebe's distraction, Kirk quickly hailed a taxi and got in, leaving her standing there.
"Kirk, you..."
Phoebe had initially planned to take Kirk to the hospital, but in the blink of an eye, she saw that he had already gotten into a taxi.
Watching it slowly disappear from her sight, a faint smile flashed in Phoebe's eyes. Although she was deeply saddened by Brother Beck and his gang beating him up today, the incident had also given her clarity about two people.
One was Brentley and the other was Kirk.
Previously, when Phoebe was on the date Kirk, she couldn't be sure if her rejection of his confession was influenced by Brentley.
But now, Phoebe felt she had seen through Brentley. His behavior today had left her utterly disappointed, whereas Kirk had moved her deeply.
She had initially planned to ask Brentley whether she should accept Kirk's proposal, as Brentley was her only friend in Sunshire City and she had held a good impression of him.
However, after today's events, all her favorable feelings towards him had vanished and was replaced entirely by resentment.
A moment later, Phoebe walked back to her apartment complex alone.
Meanwhile, Kirk, who had gotten into the taxi, was in a surprisingly good mood. Despite the unexpected beating he had received today, he felt it was worth it if Phoebe would agree to be with him.
"Young man, do you need to go to the hospital?" The taxi driver asked worriedly, noticing Kirk's face covered in blood.
"No need for the hospital. This little injury doesn't warrant that. Take me to Lucky Outfit Rentals!"
Kirk shouted boldly while wiping the blood off his face.
"Heh, refusing to go to the hospital in this state... these young folks these days..."
The taxi driver sighed with a hint of helplessness and then drove towards the place he mentioned.
Meanwhile, Kirk pulled out his phone and opened the forum for Sunshire City University. He quickly typed up a post titled, "Successfully confessed to the streamer today! Only three days left until we book a room together. Stay tuned for the live stream!"
A moment later, Kirk sent the post, attaching a sneaky photo he had taken of himself and Phoebe during dinner. Even though it was already past 10 pm, within five minutes of posting, his update had garnered over three thousand likes and comments.
He watched the comments roll in, a smug smile spreading across his face.
The next morning at 8 am, Brentley walked into a lecture hall at Sunshire City University. As he entered, all the students in the class looked at him with strange, disdainful eyes.
Brentley didn't need to ask to know what was going on. It was obvious that Colby, Ophelia, and the others had spread the word about him pretending to be a rich kid to trick girls at the bar last night. That's why his classmates were looking at him with such contempt.
"Well, well, Brentley is here! Why so late? You usually come early, don't you?" Taylor mocked in a sweet but sarcastic tone upon seeing him.
"Whatever time I come to school is none of your business," Brentley replied, his face expressionless.
"We're all classmates here. Just showing some concern for you..." Taylor continued in a sickly sweet voice. "I don't need your concern!" he snapped back, heading straight for his seat.
"Brentley seems not to have slept well last night after we exposed his true colors, huh? Couldn't trick that girl from the music academy, could you?" Farrah joined in, taunting him.
Maybe it was because of what happened yesterday that Farrah felt she had regained some ground. So now, she had the courage to provoke him.
"Do you need something?" Brentley asked calmly, giving Farrah a once-over. "No, nothing really. I just wanted to ask how you felt after we exposed you!" Farrah said with a bright smile.
"Nothing at all," Brentley replied indifferently and continued walking towards his seat.
"Don't go, Brentley. Why don't you tell everyone about last night? I've always been curious about what you told that girl from the music academy to make her think you were a rich kid!" Ophelia saw him trying to leave and thought he was showing weakness, so she continued to mock him relentlessly.
Brentley didn't want to argue with Farrah and Ophelia over what happened at the bar last night. But seeing Farrah's relentless attitude, coupled with his frustration over Kirk's situation, he stopped in his tracks and looked at Farrah with icy eyes.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Upset we exposed you? Are you going to hit me?" Farrah was startled by his gaze and took two steps back, asking softly. "Farrah, have you forgotten who it was that stripped naked in the hotel, crying and begging me to sleep with you?" Brentley asked, his expression utterly calm.
"Beep!"
His words were like a bomb dropped in the classroom. Those who had been mocking him were instantly stunned, their faces filled with disbelief.
Even Farrah herself didn't expect him to bring up that incident. She stood there like she had been hit by a spell, frozen like a stone in front of Brentley.
