Brentley looked at the information Logan had handed him about Sunshire City's Young Master Jordan. A faint smile played on his lips as he marveled at the coincidence. This Sunshire City's Young Master Jordan was none other than Jaxson Jordan, with whom Brentley had previously had a conflict.
This was actually good news. With just a word from Logan, Jaxson wouldn't dare trouble Phoebe anymore. "Young Master Carter, would you like me to take you to see Jaxson Jordan now?" Logan asked softly.
"I don't need to waste my time on someone like him. You handle it. Just tell him not to bother a streamer named Phoebe anymore," Brentley replied calmly.
"Understood!" Logan quickly agreed.
Brentley hesitated for a moment before adding. "Oh, and don't reveal my identity. Do you understand?"
"Don't worry, Young Master Carter. I'll take care of it," Logan assured him.
"Good." Brentley nodded slightly and then continued, "By the way, how's the investigation on Kirk going?"
"Ah!" Logan reacted quickly, pulling out another thick dossier and handing it to Brentley. "Young Master Carter, I apologize. There are over five thousand people named Kirk in Sunshire City. It's been quite a challenge to narrow it down!"
Brentley sighed, flipping through the pages. "I see. Keep working on it. We need to find the right one."
"Yes, Young Master Carter," Logan responded earnestly, determined to complete the task.
Brentley felt a wave of despair wash over him as he heard Logan's words. Over five thousand people? By the time Brentley found the real Kirk, Phoebe and Kirk could have already done whatever they planned. Even if Brentley exposed Kirk's true identity then, what difference would it make?
"But based on the information you provided, I've narrowed it down to about seventy people named Kirk in Sunshire City who are around twenty years old. You can start by checking if any of them match the person you're looking for," Logan continued, handing over the documents to Brentley.
"Seventy is more manageable," Brentley sighed in relief. He took the documents from Logan and began to scrutinize them seriously.
Meanwhile, back at the classroom.
After Brentley left, the other students also started to leave. With the main drama over, there was no reason for them to stay.
Once the classroom was empty, Ophelia, Colby, Chasel, and Landon gathered around Farrah.
"Farrah, what's going on between you and Brentley? Did he threaten you or does he have something on you?" Ophelia asked, clearly puzzled by Farrah's unusual behavior.
"Brentley didn't give me a hard time. I really do owe him four thousand dollars," Farrah replied, resting her head on the desk with a look of helplessness.
"You owe him money?" Ophelia asked, her eyes filled with confusion. She couldn't understand why Farrah would owe him such a large sum.
"Farrah, why do you owe him money?" Colby asked, frowning.
"Colby, don't you have any idea why?" Taylor, who had been silent until now, finally couldn't hold back. She stood up and shouted at Colby.
"Taylor, what do you mean by that? What does Farrah borrowing money from Brentley have to do with me?" Colby asked, clearly baffled.
"Back when Ophelia offended Jaxson Jordan, both Farrah and I got dragged into it. We needed $4,000 to get both of us out of trouble, but you only managed to save Ophelia and left us to fend for ourselves.
Farrah found out that Brentley had won the lottery a few days ago, so she called him for help after our friends turned their backs on us. That's how we got out. Do you understand now?" Taylor shouted, her big, watery eyes filled with emotion.
Colby and Ophelia exchanged awkward glances after hearing Taylor's words, unsure of how to face Farrah.
Landon, on the other hand, was visibly upset. He yelled, "Farrah, why didn't you call me when you needed money?"
"It took $4,000 to get us out. Do you have that kind of money?" Farrah replied with a cold smile.
Landon was stunned into silence by her words, not knowing what to say. Although his family was well-off, $4,000 was still a significant amount that he couldn't easily come up with on short notice.
"I don't have that kind of money, but how could that broke Brentley have so much?" he shouted, clearly frustrated.
"I already told you, he won the lottery. That's why he had money to treat everyone to dinner at the Prosperity Hotel and to get us out," Taylor replied helplessly.
"If Brentley really won the lottery, do you think he'd be so generous to treat everyone to dinner and use the money to save you two?" Ophelia suddenly sneered.
Everyone looked puzzled after hearing Ophelia's words.
"I've been with him long enough to know his personality. If he really just won the lottery, he wouldn't be so generous," Ophelia continued.
"What do you mean by that, Ophelia?" Colby hesitated before asking.
"My point is simple: there's no way Brentley got all that money on his own!" Ophelia stated firmly.
"Not his own money?" Everyone looked puzzled again.
"Oh, come on, how can you all be so dense? Remember the string of thefts in our dorms a few days ago? Lots of students lost money, and the police even came to investigate but never found the thief..." Ophelia explained slowly.
"Ophelia, are you saying Brentley is the thief?" Farrah gasped.
"We don't have proof that he is the thief, but something's definitely off with him lately. He's been picking fights with us and even spread the rumor that Farrah wanted to sleep with him. If we don't teach Brentley a lesson, he's just going to get bolder!" Ophelia's eyes were cold and calculating.
The others exchanged glances, clearly agreeing with Ophelia's desire for revenge against Brentley.
"But how are we supposed to get back at Brentley?" Landon asked, looking a bit confused. "Landon, if I remember correctly, we have a gym class the day after tomorrow, right?" Ophelia squinted her eyes as she asked.
"Yeah, so what?" Landon nodded slightly. "Here's what we can do that day..."
Ophelia and the others began whispering their plans on how to deal with Brentley during their next gym class. Meanwhile, Brentley sat in Logan's Mercedes, flipping through one document after another.
However, after going through all the information, Brentley was shocked to find that the Kirk he saw last night was not among them!
"Logan, are you sure you have all the files on everyone named Kirk?" Brentley asked, setting the documents down with a serious expression.
"Absolutely. My sources are very precise. Even if they're not from Sunshire City but attend college here, I can still track them down. So this information is the most accurate," Logan replied calmly.
"Then why can't I find the person I'm looking for?" Brentley muttered to himself, puzzled, as he stared at the documents in his hands.
