Big Boi

Sylas's and Swain's breath hitched as the large zombie locked its grey lifeless eyes on the pair. It stared for only a moment before a guttural growl came out of its mouth causing the rest of the pack of zombies to stop mindlessly attacking the glass door that was blocking them from their next meal.

The pack laid their eyes on the duo and immediately started to stumble towards them. Sylas glanced at Swain and fell into his role while they played videogames: The Shotcaller.

"Rush them, focus on the head or make them fall to stall the others, if you're being overwhelmed then run back out the doors."

With a grunt, they both dashed towards the pack of zombies with determined expressions etched across their faces. Swain made contact a second earlier thanks to his athletic build and his recently acquired [Bird Booties]. He met the pack with a swing of his bat which made contact with his target's skull, instantly dropping and killing the zombie. The zombie fell like a sack of potatoes knocking the zombie behind it to the ground and causing a chain reaction leaving another 3 zombies scrambling to get up.

Sylas has caught up at this point and decided to try and increase the number of zombies on the floor by swinging at a zombie's legs to sweep its feet out from under it. Unfortunately, his action didn't have the intended consequence as he was unable to break the shin bone with his swing and it appeared that the zombie felt no pain either.

CRACK

As Sylas looked past the pack of zombies, he could see the large zombie now hammering its fists on the large glass door. It had created a new crack in the door, quickly limiting the time Sylas and Swain had to clear this pack and save those inside the room. Thinking of a new plan as he took another swing at the zombie in front of him, but this time at its head since Swain had been able to take two down with only headshots at this point, Sylas came to a conclusion.

"We have to get aggro on the big guy. He's just going for Sam. No retreat. Push through if you can."

CRACK

Upon hearing this, Swain went into a sort of berserk state where he looked as if he wasn't struggling to swing his bat cleanly through two zombies at once with brain matter and pieces of skull flying both into the pack of zombies and onto the side of Sylas's face.

"Come at me you ugly motherfucker! Get you some of Swain Shieldgrove!"

CRACK

Sylas stepped back, barely dodging a swinging arm of a zombie, but was hit on the left from one of the pack circling around the outside of the duo. Searing pain was felt down his left arm as the zombie's nails raked his skin hard enough to draw blood.

CRACK

Juking back to avoid another zombie's swing, Sylas took one of his own, taking out the zombie that injured him. Glancing back towards the right at Swain caused Sylas to pause for a fraction of a second in shock as he saw that Swain had already taken care of nine of the thirteen zombies of the pack and was heading towards the large zombie in a fury.

SHATTER

The door had suffered what it could and had shattered under constant bombardment of the large zombie's fists. The group of girls screamed as the glass clattered against the floor while Swain yelled.

"Buy time for me to get there and help!" Sylas shouted at Swain's back as the large zombie stepped towards the group of nursing students. Not knowing if Swain heard him, Sylas decided to quickly deal with the last two remaining zombies. Stepping towards the right, he dodged the incoming swing, managing to get a light hit on the closest target but unable to bring it down in one blow.

WHACK

His back now towards Swain and the large zombie, he heard the sound of Swain's bat hitting a fleshy object followed by a guttural growl that sounded like a mixture of annoyance and condescension.

Being clipped by another swing, Sylas failed at his counter-attack because of the surprising pain. He fell back a few steps to take control of the situation again. With the moment to breathe and reassess, he could see a way to end the two in front of him quickly. Sylas took a step forward, swung his bat with all his might, hitting the closest zombie in the temple causing it to fall to his left leaving an opening for the zombie slightly more on his right a chance to advance forward. Without losing the momentum of his previous swing, Sylas spun fully around smacking his weapon into the zombie.

Unfortunately, his aim was off and hit the last remaining pack member in its shoulder, but quickly followed up with a swing to the head. The swing wasn't hard enough to kill it, but did disorient it long enough for Sylas to get a proper swing in and finish off the pack.

THUD

Sylas, panting, heard the sound of flesh meeting flesh and spun around to face the fight between the large zombie and Swain. Swain was several feet away, crumpled against the wall with a trace of blood coming from his mouth. The large zombie looked the same as far as he could tell, but he didn't have time to really take a look as the zombie stepped towards Swain planning to end him. Sylas ran at the zombie but realized that he wasn't going to be able to cross the 15 feet before the zombie made it to Swain who was only a couple feet away from it.

WHIZ

With a prayer, Sylas flung his bat as hard as he could at the zombie to try and pull its aggro off Swain. The bat connected with the head of the zombie which instantly turned its glare towards him. Sylas had aimed towards the chest of the zombie because he remembered an older movie about training new soldiers that they should always aim for center mass that way they're more likely to hit something. It seemed that something heard his prayer and caused his awful aim to help him in this case.

He thought that until he saw the continue to go past the large zombie into the wall where it rattled and fell to the ground five feet past its target and Swain. The zombie walked towards Sylas at a faster pace than the pack had moved, not giving him much time to think. He thought about running out of the building now that he was weaponless, but he doubted the large zombie would follow him all the way out and would likely go for the easier prey of Swain or the group of girls.

With the zombie closing in, he decided to kite it around. He would stay within a couple feet of it, landing small attacks when he could, while leading it where he wanted and hopefully dodging any blows it would throw out.

Sylas put the plan into motion as the large zombie approached. He watched the zombie's arms to see which one it would use to attack so he could try and dodge as early as possible. When the zombie started lifting its right arm, Sylas jumped to his left as quickly as possible trying to lead it away from the wall Swain was against. The zombie immediately followed up with a swing of its other arm, which Sylas barely dodged.

Steadying on his feet, Sylas was a bit more comfortable with what he was doing and the possible rhythm of attacks from his foe. Sylas spent the next half a minute slowly edging the zombie away from the injured Swain and took a chance that he saw to look beyond the zombie to judge if he could juke around this obstacle and get to his bat before the zombie got to Swain.

Unfortunately, this caused his reaction to the next attack to come later than usual allowing the zombie's outstretched hand to fully connect on its horizontal swipe sent Sylas spinning, flying several feet away and skidding to a stop against one of the zombies they had slain earlier.

Sylas coughed up some blood as he watched the large zombie stalk towards him. His vision dimmed on the edges as it tunneled onto the figure quickly approaching to kill him.

CLINK CLINK

Sylas's vision fully darkened after seeing the large zombie crumple a couple feet in front of him and then the terrified face of his wife, a long metal pole in her hands.

Samantha Redstone stood with an IV pole in her hands. She had removed the base with the wheels and the arms on top that held bags of fluids for the patient IV's, found the largest needle gauge with the greatest length in the clinical room, and taped it to the end of the bare metal pole creating a makeshift spear even if it likely only had one use. She watched as the large zombie broke the door, watched as Swain fought and was subsequently injured by it, and then watched as her husband dodged vicious attacks by the skin of his teeth, but when the zombie landed a blow on Sylas she couldn't just watch anymore.

Running with her makeshift spear, she headed directly towards the zombie which was still focused on its prey in front of it.The butt of her metal pole clinked against the ground a couple times as she ran until she was just behind the zombie where she knew she only had one chance. She had to put the needle through the base of its neck, make sure the needle entered the brain, and then try to scramble it like an egg.

With short panicked breaths, she thrust her spear, her aim was true, piercing through the decaying grey skin of the zombie and entering its brain. Samantha quickly jerked the spear in several directions until the needle broke as the large zombie crumpled to the floor.
