Qiao Mu looked down at her adorable yet silly sister, speechless. She gently reached out and stroked her head.
"Little Lin'er."
"Mmm-hmm." Qiao Lin rubbed her head left and right, burrowing into Qiao Mu's neck, a blissful expression on her face.
"Sister, did you bring me something delicious?"
Qiao Mu: ...
Didn't we always treat you well at home, little sister? Why do you only think of food when you see your big sister...
"Ahem." Qiao Mu gently pulled Little Lin'er's head back a bit, looking at her with a serious expression. "You're not dreaming."
"Mmm, not dreaming," Qiao Lin repeated after her, her eyes curving into a smile. She tilted her little neck back and stared blankly at Qiao Mu for a while.
Then, her eyes suddenly widened, and a high-pitched shriek burst through the small bamboo house.
"I'm not dreaming??"
Qiao Mu couldn't help but raise a hand to her forehead. She got up, led her sister to the table, and poured her a cup of fragrant tea, placing it in her hands.
"Big sister is sitting right next to you, you're not dreaming."
Qiao Lin put down her cup, then suddenly reached out and pinched Qiao Mu's cheek. "It doesn't hurt."
Qiao Mu glared at her silly sister, a black line forming on her forehead.
"You pinched me, of course it doesn't hurt you!!" You brat, why are you acting just like that little monk! If Qiao Mu had a beard, she'd be puffing it out and glaring fiercely right now.
Qiao Lin looked at her awkwardly.
"Female benefactor!!"
"Female benefactor! Female benefactor!!"
Qiao Lin chuckled, "Am I hearing things? Did I hear Kongkong's voice?"
"No, you're not hearing things." Qiao Mu got up and walked to the door. As soon as she pulled it open, she saw the little monk with his shiny bald head trotting in with small, measured steps.
"It's Kongkong," Qiao Mu turned to Little Lin'er and said.
Qiao Lin's eyes instantly widened. She leaped up from her stool.
"Kongkong!" Qiao Lin pounced, hugging the chubby little monk tightly. She raised her hand and gave his bottom a solid pat. "You little imp, you worried me to death."
Kongkong quickly covered his backside with his hand, exclaiming in a panicked voice, "B-b-b-bold! B-b-b-bold female benefactor's sister, you-you-you, b-b-b-bold!"
"M-m-m-men and women should not touch intimately, h-h-h-how can you hit a little monk's backside?" He stammered, his chubby little face adorned with a look of terror, which was quite comical.
Qiao Mu twitched her lips, raising a hand to her forehead in exasperation.
Little Lin'er, however, beamed with joy. She held the little monk tightly, reluctant to let go. "Oh my, it's really my talkative, noisy Kongkong. I missed you so much, big sister! Come, give big sister a kiss first!"
"Nonsense! No kissing!" The little monk pressed a hand against Qiao Lin's mouth, his little face serious, enunciating each word carefully. "This little monk is never talkative, never noisy! This little monk just talks a bit much sometimes."
Qiao Lin laughed heartily. She turned, carrying Kongkong, and ran to Qiao Mu's side. She placed Kongkong down, then hugged Qiao Mu, rubbing her big head against Qiao Mu's neck. "Sister, sister, sister!"
Qiao Mu's heart melted into a puddle from her rubbing.
A faint smile appeared on her lips. She reached out and stroked her fuzzy little head, sighing softly, "Little Lin'er, you're almost a young lady now. If Mother saw you like this, she'd scold you again."
"Mother?" Qiao Lin was startled, remembering something important, and immediately became serious.
