Chapter 3492: 4.1092 No Way to Repay the Debt
Upon seeing the Crown Princess enter with her entourage, he instantly jumped up as if electrocuted, repeatedly calling out, "Cro-Crown Princess! Crown Princess!"
Qiao Mu barely glanced at him, her gaze falling on the heavily made-up woman. "Who are you people?"
The woman before her was strikingly dressed. A strapless gown accentuated her good figure. On her hand, she wore a large string of sandalwood beads, and a black mole by the corner of her mouth detracted slightly from her beauty. Time had etched its marks on her face; though she was still attractive in her middle age, she lacked the fresh youth of a young girl. The vibrant peach-red gown she wore certainly didn't flatter her, instead making her appear somewhat gaudy and vulgar.
Yi Niang stood up and politely bowed to Qiao Mu, Mo Lian, and their retinue. Then, feigning nonchalance, she said, "Why does the Crown Princess pretend not to know us?"
"Didn't you send people to our Pink Pavilion from time to time recently, reminding us to remember to repay the debt?"
"It's just that the Crown Princess left for over twenty days, and we had no way to repay the debt even if we wanted to."
Only then did Qiao Mu recall that she had indeed sent people before her departure to occasionally remind the manager of the Pink Pavilion not to forget the debt owed to her. If they didn't repay, Qiao Qiao would certainly not let it go, and smashing their Pink Pavilion would be the least of it.
Qiao Mu nodded, then turned and sat down grandly in the seat of honor. Cai Xiu, with keen observation, stepped forward and handed a promissory note to the little Crown Princess, then bowed and retreated.
Qiao Mu looked down at the note, then nodded and looked at Yi Niang. "Are you the proprietress of the Pink Pavilion?"
"I dare not claim to be the proprietress."
"If you're not the proprietress, why are you here to see me?" Qiao Mu interrupted her humble words impatiently. "I need to resolve this matter with your proprietress! You small fry shouldn't come babbling to this Crown Princess!"
Everyone: ...
Yi Niang choked on her breath, suppressing the throbbing veins on her forehead, and quickly said, "Yes, I am the proprietress of the Pink Pavilion."
"You are the proprietress, yet you just said you 'dare not claim to be'?" The little Crown Princess said displeased. "Speaking ambiguously! This Crown Princess dislikes beating around the bush the most. Say what you mean directly."
Holy cow, 'dare not claim to be' was just polite talk from me, you, you! Why is talking to you so exhausting?!
Yi Niang, who had always been smooth-tongued, was for the first time so angered by a young girl that smoke practically came out of her seven orifices. Everyone couldn't help but look at her sympathetically, feeling that this person was somewhat pitiful.
"Since you're the proprietress, stop with the nonsense." Qiao Mu slapped the promissory note onto the table. "Thirty million spiritual coins, pay up."
"Th-th-th-thirty! Thirty million!!" Manager Li's cry was like that of an old rooster being choked by the neck; his raised volume almost pierced the roof.
Qiao Mu looked back at him displeased. "How dare you shout at this Crown Princess?"
Manager Li immediately drooped his head like a defeated rooster, whimpering pitifully, "Crown Princess, this lowly one, this lowly one didn't mean to. This lowly one, just, just, too, too... too surprised."
He wore a mournful old face. If crying at this moment could solve the problem, he would cry until the world turned dark.
Qiao Mu looked at him impatiently. "You grown man, so effeminate and verbose! Get lost."
