Chapter 4834: Grievance
She now knew that the owner of this ship was the Young Master of the Qin Estate.
The last time they were rescued only to be thrown back into the water by the First Young Master, she felt that it definitely had something to do with that stoic.
Without cultivation and spiritual consciousness, drifting on the sea for those few days was actually extremely dangerous.
Fortunately, they were quite lucky and didn't encounter a large group of corpse fish attacking, otherwise... it would have been difficult for the Wangchuan Duo Clan to even preserve the remaining ten survivors.
They had drifted precariously for several days, finally encountering the Dayuan merchant ship that rescued them.
Unexpectedly, the very next day, they were subjected to a frantic attack by a giant Corpse-Devouring Shark.
To say that Duo Shanmei was utterly unlucky wasn't entirely true, at least she was still alive, wasn't she?
But to say she was lucky? That couldn't explain her miserable days drifting on the sea, and now having to gnaw on pickled vegetables and steamed buns.
"Oh, what's all this commotion about?" a kind voice came from behind Ling Ge.
Ling Ge's face was quite unpleasant, annoyed by the unreasonably argumentative Steward Gu. Hearing the voice, she and Steward Gu turned their heads to look.
What met their eyes was a kindly-looking, pot-bellied old man of about sixty, smiling like Maitreya.
His sparsely covered forehead was bald and shiny, and he wore a Yuanbao hat on his head. As he walked, his large belly jiggled, making him appear exceedingly benevolent.
Ling Ge quickly bowed respectfully, calling out, "Grandpa Luo."
"Ling Ge, how can you be so rude to guests?" The old man smiled kindly, then turned to the blushing Steward Gu. "This guest, I'm truly sorry. What have we done that displeases you?"
When the old man said this, Steward Gu fidgeted uncomfortably, rubbing his hands.
After all, the other party had rescued them first. For him to be arguing with the hosts over lodging for half the day was, frankly, a bit unreasonable.
However, for the sake of his young lady and young master, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and be this annoying person.
Steward Gu reiterated the young master's situation to the old steward.
Old Luo smiled and nodded. "Well, how about this? There's a small partitioned room next to the communal bunk. It's usually used for storing servants' clothes and miscellaneous items. I'll have someone clean this small room for the young lady and young master to live in. Will that work?"
Steward Gu breathed a sigh of relief and quickly nodded gratefully. "Thank you, old steward."
"No problem, no problem," Old Luo replied with a smile.
Second Young Master Qin descended the stairs, glancing at the few people standing at the staircase entrance. "Grandpa Luo, is something the matter?"
"Nothing, Second Young Master. This old servant has everything properly arranged here," Old Luo said with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Second Young Master Qin nodded with an indifferent expression and walked past the group.
The young lady, who had been staying by the side the entire time, waiting for Steward Gu to finish his negotiations, tightly held her younger brother's small hand.
Only now did she step forward and whisper to Steward Gu, "Uncle Gu, what did they say?"
She and her brother were ordinary people with average hearing. From such a distance, she only knew that Uncle Gu had been talking to someone with a rather agitated expression, but she didn't know what exactly was said.
Steward Gu recounted Old Luo's words to the young lady.
The young lady's face showed a hint of disdain. "Uncle Gu, they're making us stay in a storage room where servants put their clothes and sundries?"
Steward Gu's face also showed a slight difficulty. "Miss, I apologize for the inconvenience to you and the young master. We might have to make do for a few days until we reach our destination."
