Chapter 4839: A Hero's Sacrifice
"If it weren't for the Young Master's order, who'd bother bringing along such an unlucky jinx!"
"He can't even get over by himself, and when others carry him, he acts so inappropriately. If you want to die, go die far away! Don't you dare implicate others!"
"Alright, alright, Er Niu, why are you getting so angry with a child?"
"The child is probably scared silly, truly terrified right now. Let it go, let it go," several house guards quickly stepped forward to mediate.
Acai also chimed in with a few calming words, then turned to the two siblings who were crying hysterically, sighed, and said to the embarrassed Steward Gu, "You look after them."
The young master of the Fang family was trembling in his sister's arms, whimpering, "Sis, it hurts."
Amidst the commotion, Duo Shanmei stepped forward and grabbed the young master of the Fang family from his sister's embrace.
Both siblings shrieked.
The young master of the Fang family buried his head and scurried, trying to burrow into his sister's arms.
"Don't move!" Duo Shanmei commanded in a deep voice, forcefully tearing open half of the young master's trouser leg.
On the exposed calf, everyone clearly saw several small red dots, as if burned, scattered across the leg.
"What are you doing?" Miss Fang shrieked, hastily trying to cover her brother's leg with the blanket.
Qiao Mu's voice, however, came from the side, "He's been poisoned by a corpse. It must be dealt with quickly."
"What?" Miss Fang looked at Qiao Mu in astonishment, her eyes filled with confusion.
"It's very obvious that he was sprayed by a few drops of the Corpse-Devouring Shark's mucus," Qiao Mu gestured towards the Qin Estate guard beside her.
The guard felt a flash of insight, immediately drew his sword, and took a few steps forward.
Miss Fang's face was aghast. She tightly hugged her brother and cried out in alarm, "Wh-what are you doing? What do you want?"
"Do you want to save half his leg or his entire life?" Qiao Mu asked sternly. "You should be glad that this corpse poison has only just permeated the skin and hasn't had time to spread throughout his body."
Duo Shanmei, for once, found the little stoic's words reasonable and nodded. "Miss Fang, don't hesitate. Before the corpse poison spreads, if you just chop off half of your brother's leg, you can at least save his life."
Miss Fang shrieked as if her tail had been stepped on. "No, no, absolutely not! My brother can't be a cripple. He still has to inherit the Fang family and bring glory to our family name in the future!"
Qiao Mu couldn't help but roll her eyes, secretly complaining in her mind: His life is almost gone, and he's still going to glorify your sister.
"You are all powerful cultivators; you must have a way to save my brother without harming him."
Qiao Mu turned and walked away, not leaving a single extra word.
She always upheld the principle of lending a hand if she could. Helping with small favors was no problem, as long as it was within her capabilities.
But this didn't mean she would tolerate others overstepping their bounds, inexplicably ordering her around.
It was like practicing medicine: if someone sought her medical help, no problem, she would try her best to help.
But if you didn't trust her abilities and kept pointing fingers and babbling, then sorry, scram, go somewhere cool.
Words had been spoken. The path ahead still had to be chosen by oneself.
Since Miss Fang had chosen to keep her brother's leg, then so be it.
A hint of grievance flashed in Miss Fang's eyes.
