Time flew, three years passed with the same boring routine of the first day, I wake up, the guards take me to the Doctor, he extracts liters of my mana, the guards take me again and give me a lot of food and then I sleep.
My situationdidn'tgetbetter, the malaise spread now arriving at torso, my entire spine was numb, even in that status I tried to find a way to escape that goddamn laboratory, I wanted to see my family one last time, but nothing worked.
My being submissive had his fruits, by inflating the Doctor pride asking questions about his experiments and congratulating him, he gifted for my birthday a wheelchair, it made moving around easier.
The pain also exponentially diminished thanks to the treatment, I was still dying just not in absolute pain, the operations weren't so bad, at least for me, my Cellmate, Reed, wasn't really in a good shape, the Doctor often gave me insight on the others children of the hall, he told me that Reed was the fruit of trying to mix human and 'ancestral creature', his body had undergone a lot of different operations that changed him in an irreversible manner, the part of the face that was falling down during our first encounter was from another kid, his sister.
The first experiments the Doctor conducted have shown that a singular human cannot withstand the primal nature of the ancestral creature, so the mages fused two kids together, without caring for the side effects.
The reason he had characteristics that resembled a snake were because the body parts he got fused with were those of the ancestral creature 'Ashen Snake', a terrible beast that killed thousands of humans thanks to it's petrifying glaze, he had a peculiar mutation that made it different from the others snakes of its species, thousands of small eyes decored its grey body.
In the last months his mental condition worsened, he started to talk in his sleep and I saw him eat a whole rat even while there was plenty of food in front of him, he told me that he could hear the instincts of the snake trying to take control, he also heard the voice of his sister when he got near a breakdown, she helped him maintain at least an ounce of sanity, he told me the two of them had a strong link and that he missed her every day.
The part of his face that previosly belonged to his sister had now fused completely, often the eye of that part of the face seemed to have his own conscience, looking around and inspecting everything, the snake eye also behaved like that, the times they followed Reed's will were few, usually during mortal tests created to testi his strengt, so Reed decided to wear a blindfold in normal days, I knew he didn't liked the idea of having two eyes that moved without his control.
In these three years he also gained a lot of height, his arms became longer, almost in an unnatural way, his body also became different, his chest was visible broader than his torso that became slimmer.
In the last year I became friend with another cellmate, a newcomer, he was in a different situation than us, his name was Elia, the operations he had undergone changed him in a strange manner, his body was now a tangle of tentacles that concealed his true body, they were of a dark green color and each of them had a mind of their own, the Doctor told me that his operation was a curiosity he wanted to answer, would it be possible to change the race on a human by changing his corpse l, and if that is possible would that change him in other ways?
The brain of Elia got extracted from his human body and transplanted onto the corpse of a Sqell, a feral humanoid tentacular creature that lived in the abyss of the ocean, I never heard about it, but the Doctor explained like that without adding others informations.
He had two small red shiny eyes, his mouth was small full of small sharp teeths, his nose was almost invisible by how small it was, the size of his body followed that trend as he was a lot shorter than me, his forehead had an horizontal cut, where the transplant happened, the top of his head had plenty of strong and fast tentacles, they were several meters long, he often sleeps on them or got covered by them.
He talked way less than Reed, he was quite shy the first time he arrived here, but after the experiments that worsened, his body needed to be sustained by a lot of water, so he often got taken out his cell to be escorted into a special room with a pool, it was made only for him.
His voice was acute, almost squeaky sometimes, he hated the dark and often sang a little song his parents taught him, he was also younger than me and Reed, he had eight years, and arrived in the laboratory only seven months ago.
Other than those two I made the acquaintance of two others kids that were not on my side of the hall, they were two girls, or at least they used to be, 'one' of them wasn't really of company but, she was excused by us for that, the experiments she undergone turned her body in a grotesque mass of flesh covered by eyes, mouths and arms, the doctor told me that she was born from an experiment that wanted to create the perfect human, sadly it didn't go well, he often mentioned that killing a bunch of humans and inject their souls and magic power in a normal human girl was destined to fail, but what's done can't be cancelled, he kept her alive only to see if she could regain her consciousness, he also launched a magic of silence on her since from what he told me after the experiment she passed days screaming from her many mouths.
She was the oldest amoung us as she was one of the first kids taken and one of the first experiments, the Doctor sometimes told me that she was a bastard child born from a noble out of wedlock and was abosed for that, he called himself her saviourtaking her away from such a terrible life, I wasn'tso stupid to tell him that she seems really in pain and maybe he wasn'texactlyher saviour.
I tried to speak to her many times, but I don't think she can hear my voice, nor understand what I am saying, indeed a poor thing, the only thing she made all day was eat the food she was given and wait, one time one of her eyes seemed to watch the guard that entered her room in order to feed her in a strange way, from what I know the guard never came out from that cell.
After that incident I try to stay away from her, I don't really like the idea to be eaten alive by a blob of flesh.
The fourth kid I got to knew was quite particular, Elen... yeah I can describe her like that, she had fifteen years and she looked quite normal, for the first few seconds, her body was toned, her muscles were well placed, light but visible, she had short black hair, she left them to run, her eyes were the only particular thing about her, her sclera was black with many red veins visible, her iris was of a scarlet red.
She always hit the bars punching and trying to break them like a madman, the guards had to use some tranquilizers to put her to sleep before entering the room, the Doctor explained to me the reason for her strange temper by telling me about what was her experiment, she got fused with an ancient parasite that made her unable to feel pain and rendered her able to rob the 'Aura' of the knights, that required that she ate their bodies, so the parasite turned her into an active war machine, always searching for a fight and an enemy to kill, when he talked about her he seemed slightly angry, I didn't knew the reason.
He told me that he met that girl six years ago and that she tried to rob him then, he wanted to do a different experiment with her, but a rookie made an error and the parasite fused with her, since the parasite was a rare breed that he gained through the black market he didn't want to risk a loss so big.
The others kids never talked, I think some of them died too, us five were the only ones that talked at least a bit amoung ourself (I'm counting Mass of Flesh for piety), from what I understood we were only one of the many halls with experiments and that us were the best of them, if that was so I couldn't even begin to fathom what kind of monsters lived in those halls.
The time for my daily meeting with the Doctor was coming, he seemed particularly happy lately, I didn't knew the reason, he didn't told me that, no matter how much I complimented him, Who knows what is waiting for me ?
