CHAPTER FOURTEEN

*SOPHIA'S POV*

I could not get Mrs Jane's words off my mind after I got back into our house and this gave me more reason to do what I had to do, divorce Bran and get out of here.

I had not spoken to my Dad ever since he spoke to me about Henna moving in, and I didn't feel the need to talk to him.

I had to prepare to be inaugurated under Garner's Industry as a figurehead manager to manage my own company, Halo and Hems.

Just then, my phone rang, and it was a call from Liam.

"Hey"

"Hey," I said as I found my way to the couch in the bedroom.

"How are you holding up?"

"I must say, a little bit shaken about all of this, but it's what I've got to do"

"You don't always have to get things done yourself, you know?" he responded.

"I know, you have always said that to me, but this time, I really have to get things done myself….Halo and Hems is involved."

"Okay, how is that coming along?"

"I will be managing my company(Halo and Hems) once again."

"Wow, that is good news, Sophia."

"But under the Garner's Industry"

"What? What is that supposed to mean?"

"It means I only have to take orders from Garner's Industry, and all decisions about my company will come from them as well."

"Don't you think he is simply toying with you? Making a fool of you and your brand?"

"That may be the case, but at least I am getting back my company, and I will have to work my way from there."

"I don't like this, Sophia."

"Enough about me, how are you?"

"Well, I am right where you left me," he said jokingly.

"I never really left you...I am still here."

"Hmm, if you say so."

"Liam, can I ask you for a favour?" I asked, quite skeptical.

"Of course, Sophia, all you have to do is just ask."

"I have been trying to get my hands on some information about Jane Garner."

"Tom Garner's wife? Why are you looking into her?"

I went silent for a while as I didn't want to tell Liam I was looking into her because her words to me today set me off.

"Nothing serious, I just want to have an in-depth knowledge about her."

"An in-depth knowledge about her and it's nothing?" he asked.

I went silent again without a response.

"Fine, I will not ask further. I will see what I can gather about her and have it sent to you."

"Thank you so much, Liam."

"Anytime, Sophia...I have to get back to some work, okay?"

"Yeah sure, bye," I said and hung up.

*LIAM'S POV*

I placed the phone on my table, picked up my other phone and made a phone call.

"Hey….can you run some information on Jane Garner?"

"Thank you," I said as the person agreed and hung up.

*SOPHIA'S POV*

I heard a knock on the door, and as I turned around, it was Mrs Reeves.

"Ma'am, there is someone at the gate, and she claims to be your sister."

"She is here at last," I whispered to myself, and Mrs Reeves couldn't grasp what I said.

"What did you say, ma'am?"

"You can let her into the guest house."

"Okay, ma'am."

Mrs Reeves closed the door and left to bring Henna into the guest house.

I dropped my phone on the bed and got into the shower to have my hair washed. I haven't had quite the time to wash my hair.

Mrs Reeves finally brought Henna into the compound and led her to the guest house.

"Is this where I am supposed to stay?" Henna asked.

"Yes…..I was told to take you to the guest house."

"Do you have any idea who I am?"

"Yes, you introduced yourself as the young madam's sister."

"Then why am I not in the main house where my sister is?"

"Because she ordered me to bring you over to the guest house."

Henna scoffed.

"What stupid order is that?….. For your information, I am going into the main house, and you are not going to be in my way."

Henna pushed Mrs Reeves out of the way and headed straight to the main house, leaving Mrs Reeves with her luggage as she tried to find her balance.

Mrs Reeves figured since Henna was my sister, she would rather not get on her bad side, so she didn't go after Henna.

Henna finally got into the main house, and, surprisingly and unknown to me, she walked around like she had been here before and knew her way around.

She got up the stairs and tried to guess which one of the rooms was the main bedroom by opening and closing each door after peeking inside.

By the way, I was still in the bathroom, washing my hair as I still had lather all over my hair and some on my face.

Henna successfully figured out which one was the main bedroom as soon as she saw my phone right there on the bed.

She walked into the room and quickly went for my phone, and luckily for her, my phone was unlocked. The first thing she did was hurriedly go to my contacts and save Bran's contact on her phone.

She later progressed towards the bathroom to confirm if I was the one inside or probably someone else, cause she heard some sounds and trickles of water.

She peeked and saw me in the bathroom, trying to dry my hair with the hair dryer. Hurried off back to the room, she took her seat right on the bed and waited for me to come out.

Unknown to me, I had finished blow-drying my hair, so I stepped out of the bathroom and into the room. As I was not expecting to see Henna in the room, I got startled when I saw her sitting there.

"Oh my God!!...what the hell are you doing here?" I asked, still startled.

"Hello, sister."

"That is not the answer to what I asked."

"Well, if you need me to remind you, I am supposed to be here."

"You want to be here at the Garners' residence but not right in here, who even let you into this place??" I asked, baffled.

"I suppose that old hag did."

"Mrs Reeves couldn't have brought you here, I clearly told her to take you to the guest house."

"Then how else would I have gotten here, and by the way, the guest house is no place for me to stay and monitor what goes on about the family's company."

"And here is where you are supposed to stay and do that?"

"Well, I would not mind if you want me in here, but I am sure there are other rooms in this house that I can occupy," Henna said, her legs crossed.

"You are really showing the real purpose of you actually being here, aren't you?" I asked and scoffed.

"Whatever the case may be, I am here and that is all that matters to me, dear Sophia."

"You are staying at the guest house."

Henna laughed for a while, and when she finally finished, she stood from the bed and came close to me.

"Well, let us see what Bran has to say about that," she whispered into my ear.

Henna said this and walked out of the room as she searched and picked a room, just a room away from ours.

At this point, it became clear to me what Henna's reason for coming to the residence was, and that was to frustrate me and make my stay here more unbearable than it already was.

*HENNA'S POV*

I walked around the house and outside looking for the old hag called Mrs Reeves, for her to move my things into the room I picked.

"There you are! I have been looking everywhere for you."

"I had some errands to run."

"So who the hell is going to move my things into my room? Or are you just going to leave them there in the guest house?"

"I am sorry, but the young madam has not given me the go-ahead to move your things into the main house," she responded.

I suddenly felt perplexed and stretched forth my hand, which landed a slap on her face as she held her cheek in disbelief.

"Oh, you didn't think I would do that? What exactly do you take me for?!" I asked, vexed.

It was not up to a minute that I spoke, I heard someone's footstep, and as I turned around, I saw Bran walking over to where we stood and followed by Pierre.

"What the hell is going on here?" Bran asked as he looked at me and then at Mrs Reeves, who was still trying to figure out why she was slapped.
