Chapter 5 - Somehow... I Meet Lazy Female Knight

My habit of using hand signals seemed too strange in this world.

Even with the hand signals clearly showing the meaning conveyed through my hand movements, it doesn't make some people understand the meaning.

The hand signal circling above my head as a sign of alert didn't seem very effective, as my family could only stare at me in complete confusion.

With such an unexpected situation, I took a deep breath and rushed into the emergency tent where my family was temporary residence.

 Tap...

 Tap...

My footsteps entering this emergency tent made my family confused about what I was doing.

My goal at this point was to fill some magazines with bullets before I ran out of ammo. Luckily for me, I got a special gift from the Goddess of War who gave me a variety of magazines suitable for Hitomi.

My hand quickly reached for the plastic box I had hidden earlier and stared at some magazines suitable for this kind of situation.

 Ctaakk...

 Ctaakk...

My hands immediately opened all the plastic box and transformed Hoshino from a pistol into a submachine gun based on the accessories given by the Goddess of War.

"I didn't expect that our first experience would be surviving an onslaught of monsters that attacked relentlessly like this. I was already exhausted from making you at night and now I have to survive after successfully making you."

 "Tell me, Hoshino..."

"Is this a test you are giving me as someone who has made you and using you on this world?"

In between my hands changing the shape of Hoshino from a handgun type to a submachine gun, I talk to her. My hands skillfully installed several scope magnifiers combined with a red dot powered by batteries.

 Ctakk...

 Ctakk...

By installing several accessories that support aiming accuracy, I also installed a silencer which is used to dampen the sound of gunshots which have a big chance of attracting people's attention like before.

While surviving like this, it would be better if I moved together with my family rather than moving with other troublesome people.

I don't want these 9mm caliber bullets to be wasted in vain to save unimportant people and make myself die in vain.

I've struggled to live in my previous life in pursuit of wealth and I have to die in vain in this eroge world as someone who is only told about from behind the scenes.

 Just be serious!

I refuse to live on lore alone!

I want to survive in my way and go against the logic of this world that pampers the main character too much!

No matter what happens, I want to survive with the experiences I went through on the battlefield as a mercenary.

 Ctaakk...

 Ctaakk...

As I was thinking about unimportant things in my head, my hands moved automatically until several magazines were filled with 9mm caliber bullets in a flash, the entrance to my family's emergency tent suddenly opened and revealed a female knight carrying a blood-stained sword.

"Hey, are you okay!" she shouted in a loud voice that made me jump in surprise and it coincided with my preparations that had been completed.

 Ctaakk...

 Ctaakk...

I closed the plastic box which was lighter than before and stored several magazines of bullets in the gaps in the clothes I was wearing.

I don't know what kind of luck is enveloping me, it's like I'm being blessed by the Goddess of Luck, and the clothes I'm wearing have several pockets that can hold several magazines.

With this preparation, I could fight several hordes of humanoid monsters without fear. The only thing I feared when that time came was Hitomi jamming after firing a few bullets.

"I'm counting on you in situations like this, Hitomi."

"Don't disappoint me with your weapon's performance," I muttered in a small voice addressed only to Hitomi.

 Ctaak...

 Ctaak...

While inserting the drum-shaped magazine into the chamber, I glanced at one of the female knights who seemed to have a special bond with the body of this NPC character.

"H-Hey! I know you lost your memory. But this is not the time for you to be a coward and give up your life to a bunch of monsters like this!" she shouted in a tone that sounded like she was mocking me.

 I turned myself around.

 "Hmm... Pfftt!!"

"What the heck! Don't make me laugh by wearing weird clothes at a time like this!"

I don't know what happened to this NPC character and the female knight who seemed close to him, I feel like this knight is too relaxed in responding to the current situation with a relieved feeling.

I also took Hoshino who was already wearing some battle-ready accessories.

 Ctaakk...

While making sure one of the bullets entered the firing chamber, I immediately walked toward her.

 Tap...

 Tap...

"Hey, don't just stand there. Take this!" shouted the female knight as she held out a dagger to me.

 I shook my head.

"I have my own," I said, showing Hoshino who was ready for battle.

"E-Eeh? You know this isn't the time to joke around. Quickly take this and come with me!" she shouted as she forced me to take her dagger.

My arm was immediately pulled by the female knight who made me carry one of her daggers without realizing that my fighting style was different from before.

It would be a waste of time to explain the situation that has happened to me.

So I'll keep quiet and let my actions do the talking for her.

 Tap...

 Tap...

I was forced to accept the dagger given to her and stepped out of the emergency tent used by my family. I also brought three plastic boxes and gave them to each of my family, including a maid who seemed loyal to me.

"Please take good care of this plastic box while I protect you from a horde of monsters," I said to the rest of my stepfamily and a maid.

 Nod...

 Nod...

 Nod...

The three of them nodded their heads as if they knew their respective duties.

I will trust them with this one thing as they trust in the protection I give them.

"Young Master, is it okay for me to join in the fight when something dangerous almost kills you?" asked the maid with a look in her eyes that wanted to do something much more useful than carrying a plastic box in her hand.

"I allow you to do that, but your main duty is to take care of my remaining family. Do you understand this one duty of yours?" I replied while giving another task to the maid in front of me.

"I am ready to take that task, Young Master," replied the maid with an elegant and dignified nod.

Before I knew it, the scenery around me had changed drastically. Several flames and thick smoke had risen high like a signal to everyone who wanted to evacuate.

"Don't start daydreaming, we are in battlefield!" shouted the female knight who was now drawing her sword hilt to lead several refugees who had gathered in front of my family's emergency tent.

Several knights led by this female knight seemed to be complaining about something until my eyes fell on something shining in the distance.

I immediately pulled Hoshino up and looked at that, through the scope magnifier.

 Ctaakk...

 Ctaakk...

From a distance and with the shooting range getting closer, I could see a group of kobolds carrying human weapons in their hands.

Unlike what is in Eroge games, this is a real survival war without the help of the main character as a symbol of salvation.

"Kobold… two hundred meters ahead!" I shouted as I prepared a precision attack to be carried out with Hoshino.

"K-Kobolds? What are you talking about? Aren't they humans?" the female knight replied, confused by my words.

I just glanced at her and didn't want to waste my energy explaining something she didn't believe.

 Sruukk...

As I put my eyes through the magnifier scope, I could see the line of kobolds approaching quickly.

With the distance still far and their fast-moving speed, I had to wait for them to get within effective firing range of the Glock17 Generation Four at fifty yards.

 Brrtt...

While observing my target through the magnifier scope, I suddenly saw a message that seemed to be from Hoshino in the magnifier scope's view.

[ Master, you can shoot them from this distance, you know. ]

[ I am a weapon that has been enhanced by the Goddess of War and this accessory I am currently using has increased my effective shooting range to five hundred meters. ]

Looking at Hoshino's message through the scope magnifier, I pulled the trigger and fired several bullets in a silent blast.

 Pew...

 Pew...

 Pew...

Pulling the trigger and firing several bullets that flew at high speed, my eyes now came into focus on many more targets than before.

If this were an FPS game world, then the modifications I've made have changed Hoshino's base status from a short-range pistol to a medium-range machine gun.

 Kacling...

 Kacling...

 Kacling...

Empty shells began to fall and several rows of kobolds that tried to approach began to die one by one.

Before the silhouettes of the kobold horde could be seen clearly by the knights who were guarding my family's emergency tent, the bullets that shot from the tip of Hitomi's barrel had sent them falling to the floor with their heads full of holes.

 Pew...

 Kacling...

 Pew...

 Kacling...

 Pew...

 Kacling...

I could see the tip of Hitomi's suppressor starting to emit red embers that glowed in the dawn approaching sunrise.

The rising sun's sunlight pushed aside the shadows that were beginning to reveal the bodies of the fallen kobolds, causing several knights to begin drawing their swords from their sheaths.

 Sraakk...

"KOBOLDS! EVERYONE PREPARE TO DEFEND!" shouted one of the knights from the front line.

The late response caused several running kobolds to have to face bullets that were fired through the tip of Hitomi's long barrel which had been modified into a submachine gun.

 Pew...

 Kacling...

 Pew...

 Kacling...

The attacks I made started to bear fruit and the attacks made by the kobolds made me think of something.

"Hey, can we find a safe place right now?" I asked a knight girl who was silent next to me.

Her gaze was fixed on Hoshino and me who were aiming at the horde of kobolds in front of me.

"I-Is there a safe place around here? I-I mean... the only safe place right now is with you who is actively killing monsters from a distance like this..." the knight girl replied with her eyes unable to leave Hoshino.

"What do you mean by saying that? It's your turn to act now," I said, pulling her body to walk to the front line and face the remaining line of kobolds.

"Hue?" with a stupid facial expression, I looked at the knight girl who seemed reluctant to carry out her duty to protect someone from a monster attack.
