Chapter 24 - Legendary Rank Dragon

At first, Malik thought a monster had spawned right in front of him, but when his brain translated the scenario, he realized that it was a rift that had opened up. A fiery rift which changed the atmosphere, causing the temperature to rise beyond the level a human body could withstand. If it was any other person standing here, they would've exploded or boiled to death.

But Malik is no ordinary person—he's someone who had 100% resistance to fire due to his Flame Frost body.

The rift opened wider as a large limb came out of it. The limb was four times the size of an elephant's, and the moment it slammed into the ground, the floor quivered, unable to withstand the force.

Malik didn't linger around. He kept retreating backward until he slammed into the barrier of the fifth floor. This barrier was set up by the Main God System, and it was the item that was restricting Malik's cultivation base—and also the levels and prowess of the monsters he was facing.

Bang!

Another limb came out, followed by the head of a legendary creature. A creature Malik had always heard tales about. A creature he had seen and read about in countless novels and cinemas.

The pressure emitting from the legendary creature was so immense that Malik's body couldn't withstand it. His muscles, limbs, and bones all gave in as he succumbed to his knees, his white robe now drenched in sweat.

"That is…" Malik gritted his teeth. The pressure had made his brain lose track of the moment. At this instant, he couldn't even recall his name or who he was—but all he knew was that he had a skill that could see through illusions and everything.

"Eyes of Insight…"

> [???? ??? Legendary]

???

???

???

"Legendary Rank Dragon…" Malik's body shivered as his brain finally put the pieces together. After activating Eyes of Insight, apart from the creature's rank, he could only see question marks. From the appearance of the creature, Malik knew for sure—it was definitely a dragon.

"What a measly skill you have there, boy. You were only able to get one piece of information out of me, and that's the cheapest one…" Malik heard the voice of the dragon, and it was almost as if his ears were bleeding. The voice was so fierce and ancient that even the very barrier—set up by the Main God System—was shaking.

"Why don't I show you what skill truly means?" the Legendary Dragon said, flapping his wings softly.

The earth trembled. Ripples were sent through the whole atmosphere as damages appeared on Malik's head.

Just a flap of his wings and I've lost 30% of my health points. He doesn't even need to launch a direct attack to defeat me. Is this the power of a Legendary Rank monster?

Malik was still asking himself when he heard the deep voice of the dragon as it activated its skill.

"DRAGON GAZE!"

The eyes of the dragon, which spanned 3000 meters long and 1000 meters wide, turned golden as ripples of stars were born from the very earth.

Malik heard a crisp sound behind him as the barrier of the Main God System shattered, followed by the sinking of the earth, which almost buried Malik in it.

> [Main God System: Due to the unexpected events, the barrier set up in the fifth tower has been shattered. Your restricted cultivation base will be restored back to normal, and your opponents will be restricted to your level.]

Malik heard the system notification as his HP and SE returned to full. His body was restored to peak condition, and he quickly infused SE into his legs, allowing him to leap high into the air and land in a safer spot.

Of course, nowhere was truly safe—but at least, where he now stood hadn't been affected by the Gaze of the Dragon, which had one-shot the barrier of the Main God System.

When Malik turned to the Legendary Dragon, he saw that its height and width had been drastically reduced. It had been forced to the same cultivation base as Malik, and now Malik could manage to stand before it. He activated the Eyes of Insight once again. This time, he was able to pry into some information.

> [??? —) Legendary Boss]

Race —) Dragon

Tier —) 2

Level —) 50

HP —) 1,000,000

"Tier 2 and it's level 50. So the Main God System evaluates me to be in this tier and level? Is it because of my skills? Combat prowess? Base stats? Or is it because of my cultivation level?"

"My health points are measly at 50,000 while he has 10× that of mine. Isn't that outrageous? Why doesn't the Main God System just give me a quick death?" Malik nearly cried out when he found out that the situation he was in now was nowhere better than before.

"Your measly skill has managed to pry into some information after all. Don't you have the Main God System to praise?" the Legendary Dragon snorted, causing Malik's body to shudder in fear.

What's he insinuating? Malik couldn't help but ask himself as he opened his mouth to speak.

"I would've just appreciated if the Main God System had allowed me to fall under your almighty skill. I never initiated this challenge. The Main God System is just so, so…" Malik replied, gritting his teeth, and the eyes of the dragon flickered with light.

"I see…" The dragon snorted again as ripples of fire tore out of its nostrils, causing Malik to shift back instantly. Although they were standing 500 meters apart, Malik still lost 20% of his HP from the mere breathing of the dragon.

"You're truly an interesting individual. To think my body is still brimming with a lot of energy after being restricted to your level—and I can sense you have spite for the Main God System. And to think… you smell ancient..."

"What an interesting individual you are." The Legendary Dragon laughed out loud, and Malik gulped down, not daring to say a word.

"Now… tell me, boy… how do you want to die?"
