Lyra observed that Azrael's mana fluctuations had stabilized, so Adam removed the mana armor, leaving the boy to rest peacefully on the bed. Adam then led Lyra out of the bunker and up into the mansion.
"Lyra," Adam began, "I want to test the universal tool's capabilities. Can it merge with other technologies?"
Lyra explained, "The universal tool normally wouldn't do that. It's meant to be a shapeshifting tool based on the user's preference. However, with your mana manipulation and my mind-connected intellect, the artifact evolves and synchronizes with your body when merged. The Universal Projectile System is just one example of its capabilities."
She continued, "It can absorb technologies, refine them, store them, and even create multiple functions, like the projectile system's ability to segregate collected scraps, refine them, and store them, all while being a weapon. One of its many uses is transforming into different vehicle modes, but it's inefficient for a complete vehicle on its own due to material limitations. However, it can combine and upgrade existing vehicles, merging with other technologies, hacking them, and taking control. It's similar to nano-tech in your world, but more efficient and mana-controlled. It integrates both technology and spiritual energy."
Adam processed this. "So, it can use technology and vehicles to recreate into something else if I wanted to?"
"Yes," Lyra affirmed, "though there are limitations based on the amount of universal tool we have."
Adam's eyes widened. "So, if I wanted to create a robot as tall as buildings, it would be possible?"
"It's all possible as long as we have enough universal tool to create it," Lyra confirmed. "To upgrade it, we need materials from the other world that match the ingredients needed to make and upgrade the artifact, essentially expanding the tool to become massive enough to even turn into a vehicle on its own."
Adam's eyes lit up at the sheer possibilities of this artifact. Lyra added that beyond the projectile system, the universal tool could also recreate other technologies. "For example, you haven't tried supersonic blasts or using the surrounding elements as weapons. Even winds can be used to blow enemies away, like a turbine engine of an airplane."
Adam's mind reeled, realizing how much he had underestimated this artifact's potential—it was limited only by his imagination.
"Why not try testing it on the truck?" Lyra suggested. "Imagine upgrading the truck and what you want it to be."
Adam donned his mana armor and approached the truck, extending the universal tool to merge with it. The truck began to transform as the universal tool combined and upgraded it, changing its form. The truck hovered as its wheels turned into propellers. Its body shifted into a sleek, four-seater design with a large, covered trunk. The interior became more modern and comfortable.
"You just created a rudimentary flying vehicle," Lyra noted, "using old-world technology of wind to generate flight. While it isn't fast or efficient for long distances, it would be useful for short trips and comfort."
Adam smiled, proud of his creation.
He pulled Lyra in to test their new flying vehicle. Lyra explained that he could control it with his mind, just like the projectile system, though she could also control it manually with her extensive knowledge.
Adam and Lyra sat inside as the transformed vehicle lifted into the sky like a helicopter, turning 360 degrees and swinging side to side. Adam slowly got used to the controlling it, ascending higher and looking down at the mansion and the surrounding area.
"This would be easy to navigate through to other locations," Adam remarked, maneuvering the vehicle like a roller coaster.
"Yes, it is useful for navigation," Lyra agreed, "however, it will also leave us vulnerable to attacks, especially long-range attacks from variants. You wouldn't be able to switch back to your projectile system to defend us."
Adam slowly descended. As he removed the universal tool from the vehicle, it instantly reverted back to its original truck form.
